Chapter 20, H.O.T.D 2

"I can absolutely not write large scale wars, so I'm clearly admitting to copying and pasting in this chapter. THERE, I SAID IT. I tired, but I have so little know how about wars, a lack of desire to know about wars, and would rather just write about a lone hero stupidly charging towards an army with a sword in one hand and a gun in the other. If these coming battles are shallow or stupid, well... I guess we all learned a valuable lesson. Welsford shouldn't write large war battles."

Day 11 of the Mission

Saya: "Okay guys, listen up! Our Walking Dead Unit has already gone over the details of todays operation with papa and mama and his advisors... when some of you were playing around the last week, so we'll go over it again with you here!"

Shin: "Hey, like I've been saying all week we're not experts at planning out war. You already have a talented staff for that stuff. Not a make shift one, but a truly talented staff that wouldn't lose to anyone before the apocalypse. You just lacked the numbers of trusted staff members to support a city is all. We know what our responsibilities will be. Kill the troublesome evolved zombies and help where we can. You have well trained and now really well armed soldiers to tackle the majority of the 3 million zombie legion. Is this really necessary?"

Saya: "Of course! Even if you have no additional responsibilities it's still good to know how this battle will play out. What will you do if suddenly our forces lose and THEM invade the city?"

Shin: "Run for the hills with my team, you guys, and your parents and close friends and family. This isn't my city, so despite investing so much here, I would rather escape with those important to me and move on."

Aqua: "Shin, stop playing around. Don't act like your just going with the flow of things. I've seen you read the maps of this city and the neighboring areas not just to escape, but to predict how THEM will attack and where it'll be best to strike."

Saya: "He's what! So then why haven't you said so?"

Shin: "Ah... I was trying to maintain my careless image as a otaku over his head. If I start acting mature wouldn't that be more worrying than any old zombie army invading this city?"

At those words no one had a word to deny such a statement to Shin's shock. A minute passed like this in silence before Saya finally got back on the subject of today's battle. Three hours from now the army of 15 thousand will engage the zombie legion numbering over 3 million. The human side was vastly outnumbered by 200 fold their total manpower, yet they were not without hope. First was the terrain. With 3 Million zombies it was impossible to strategically attack Tokonosu City with million zombie attack groups from multiple sides with and through the gaps in the cities defenses from spreading themselves so thin the enemy could send their elite evolved zombies to raid the survival camp. As luck would have it was impossible for the four sides of Tokonosu City to be surrounded. There was a large mountain range to the north and a sea to the south. The legion was charging from the west of the city, and so the army could and had prepared many things to handle the invasion. Traps, road blocks, and occupied buildings acting as command post. The army was prepared to not just fend off, but wipe out the zombie legion, but their defenses weren't perfect.

Saya: "We're prepared for anything and are confident with our army supplied with millions of magic bullets we can wipe out the legion. If the Z type leading the legion chooses not to retreat and nothing unexpected occurs, our best guess is that we can wipe out the 3 million strong undead legion in 3 days, 4 tops. Perhaps sooner if nothing unexpected occurs. That's just how well equipped we are thanks to your efforts. Wiping out the legion is only a matter of time now, but our chances of victory are not 100%. Like how Enhancer and Evovlers can change the flow of modern warfare if their power is used correctly, the evolved THEM of the legion hold just as much potential. Maybe even more as they do not know rest or fear. If for some reason they can close in under the endless rain of bullets we have prepared to hold back the legion with... our front lines will be destroyed! Especially if a S3 or L3 evolved zombie appears. Modern weapons do not have the power to kill them and they only need one minute to reap the lives of thousands of trained soldiers. The casualties will leave a hole in our defenses and the undead legion will flood through those gap before we can pull ourselves together! This is the greatest disadvantage our side has due to the vastly lower manpower than the invading THEM, and we would be forced to retreat. The army can only retreat to reform our front lines twice at strategic camps we've already set up ready to be operational at a moments notice. We've set up traps and obstacles to slow down the advancing legion in this situation, so we'll have the time to regroup, but we can lose up to a third of our manpower and weapons in the retreat. If our front lines are destroyed three times... We can only run away and abandon the city if more than a million THEM are alive by this point, or garison ourselves within the center of the city where less than 100,000 untrained and unarmed men, women, and children are waiting out the battle. Maybe they can shoot guns if we lend them out, but we do not have that many guns to spare, That's why our job is-"

Shin: "To kill THEM, just like I said. Well kill all the normal and evolved undead who will try to destroy our front lines and hold back the legion during retreats. No big deal."

Saya: "!!!"

Saya who was furious and wanted to jump Shin had to be pulled back by Takashi and Kohta who both had weary looks on their faces. Shin attitude was absolutely inappropriate when a war was about start any hour now, yet they couldn't say anything. Shin's team along with their own Walking Dead Unit would just be cleaning up zombies trying to overrun the front lines. There was nothing complex about it and it would be Saya's father and mother leading the 15 thousand soldiers. Shin's team and the Walking Dead Unit couldn't contribute much overall if they went to the front lines as just gunmen in a battle against millions of undead no matter how proficient their shooting was. They would of course do so of asked, but it was their main responsibility as the few with high level combat potential to deal with the elites of the zombie legion. If a L3 or S3 would appear, within the entire army only the Walking Dead Unit or Shin's team could handle them. The armor like skin of the L3 could withstand endless rounds of bullets, artillery shells and missiles aimed at them, and could even tunnel underground. The S3 was so fast that not even a coordinate effort of elite snipers could catch one, but instead would be targeted by the high speed demon on two legs. Not to mention other types of evolved zombies humanity have yet to come across.

Takashi: "Ha... Shin is right, isn't he? We are just just fighting zombies with no other responsibilities in the end. No different than grinding XP to level up."

Rei: "Takashi! Shin look what you've done! Your unprofessional attitude has effected Takashi who's normally so serious and put together!"

Shin: "How is that my fault?"

Hikari: "Well, you have your ways."

Shin: "..."

Aqua: "Hey, this is enough messing around. It's time to head out."

It was then time to move out.

The army had already set off towards the border of Tokonosu City where they awaited the undead legion's arrival. Team Japan and the Walking Dead Unit would now join up with them. Both teams were ready to face an enduring battle where their actions would decide the fate of Tokonosu City's 100,000 population, yet for Team Japan it was not that simple. Their would be another team mixed in and hiding among the 3 million legion of zombies gunning for their heads. They knew they had appeared yesterday on day ten of the mission, and now... they could only wait to see how will their presence change the shape of the upcoming battle.

☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

Late morning of the 11th day of the Main Mission.

On the east outskirts of Tokonosu City, over the horizon a larges black mass was slowly moving towards the city. This large black mass was the result of over 3 million zombies walking so tightly together that the streets they traveled over was obscured. The many soldiers watching the mighty army inch closer and closer were now able to hear the low grunts of the countless zombies echoing as one, and were frightened beyond words. Not every soldier present possessed combat experience against zombies and only had the training, yet even the veterans among them couldn't keep their hearts calm. In the last large scale battle against the undead there were only around 100 thousand zombies invading the city. That was still a large enemy force, especially for a newly budding survival camp at the time, and in the end the city barely manged to win that battle. Of course, the current Tokonosu City had learned from that battle and had acquired more manpower, better weapons, battle tactics and experience when facing large zombie armies, but this was still an intimating sight for all.

A sea of zombies.

A sea of zombies lead by a mysterious and intelligent Z type evolved zombie. This was all enough to break the spirits of most soldiers, but it wasn't like they didn't make preparations. On the side of the humans watching the legion of zombies approach.

They had gathered over 15 thousand soldiers. Almost one third of whom were elites with training after the apocalypse and two thirds of new recruits who were vigorously trained after the apocalypse began by all the former powers of Tokonosu City, yet they were not battle tested. Among these brave men and women and making up one tenth of the army were the new breed of power introduced into this world. Enhancers and Evolvers armed with weapons and special abilities once thought excinct on the battle field or downright fictional, but they made up the core of their power and were the best defense when the zombies and the evolved zombies closed in. Behind these soldiers waiting for the battle to begin with their index fingers anxiously on the trigger were 30 tanks, 30 armored vehicles, and even 10 helicopters lying in the back ready to act when the time came.

Souichiro Takagi: "Begin the assault!”

The supreme commander of the army from command center was told by a communication officer that the legion had finally cross the line of the range of their weapons and issued his order to attack. This order was transmitted through radios all cross the front lines and the battle began! The one to make the first move to take the initiative was the army as they began their ferocious assault on the zombie horde. Various self-propelled rocket launchers spat out fire in a frenzy, as the rockets landed in the densely packed horde of zombies, blasting several patches of zombies into smithereens and burned black flesh. Regardless of the strong L1, or L2 which had high defence, or even the speedy S2s, any zombie that got caught in the blast zone of the rocket, would immediately be rendered into pieces. Maybe the S2 could have escaped the barrage if prepared, but a order had not been given to take action just yet.

After a round of fearsome blasting, the soldiers of the military proceeded forward with the armored vehicles as cover, and started their assault. With the barrage of the bullets covering the battlefield, huge patches of zombies would fell. The zombies that had been caught by surprised seemed to awaken from their stupor, as they quickly reacted, and under the commands of the commands Z-Type, the zombies made for the soldiers like a huge tidal wave. The moment the horde moved, it was unstoppable, and the soldiers from the military experienced for themselves firsthand the true fear of being charged by an untold number of zombies. Initially when they had launched their assault, the zombies were not organized and were easily disposed of, but this time it was different. One can imagine how the waves of assault that came from an organized charge of over a million zombies was unstoppable... yet that was not exactly the case here.

As the missiles were being reloaded it should have been an excellent opportunity to close in on the army, but dozens, no hundreds of zombies were being riddled with bullet wounds and collapsing to the ground one after the other. These undead type monster should have had the ability to ignore such small damage which didn't even damage their heads or spinal cords, yet for some reason the wounds would burn and ignite, consuming the zombies in a flame which burned them down to just ashes. The knowledge of magic bullets suplied by the new arrivals to Tokonosu City were doing wonders on the battlefield and were filling up the originally scared soldiers with hope. They greatly feared those zombies who had the infection ability to kill and turn all humans into the very same undead like themselves, but now seeing thousands of zombies fall just from the sparing of their guns gave each of them the courage to stand their ground... but for their enemies courage was unnecessary and unneeded.

Behind the army, the numerous self-propelled rocket launchers and Type 40 rocket launchers were reloaded and ready, and then fired their missiles in a frenzy into the horde, blasting more patches of zombies to oblivion. Under the barrage of heavy fire, the densely packed zombie horde had already lost over 30,000 of their numbers, and counting in those that fell to gunfire 35,000 zombies. If it was a human army that had lost 35,000 of their comrades so quickly, the morale would have plummeted to the bottom. However, these zombies knew not of fear nor death, and continued their relentless assault towards the soldiers and the weaponry. The pockets of dead flattened zombies were quickly filled up by other zombies endlessly.

The soldiers continued their relentless firing, and the fearsome attack rained down on the zombies, killing thousands upon thousands. Those zombies which were rushing towards them in a frenzy would find themselves dead and turned to ashes before they even managed to get too close. However, the waves making up a 3 million zombies were more terrifying than facing a thousand or even ten thousand zombies that some of these brave men and women had have experienced dealing with before. It was as though there was no end to the nightmare they found themselves in. The relentless barrage of bullets did not seem to stop, and under those firing conditions, many of the heavy and light machine guns, as well as rifles had heated up by the continuous firing. The military soldiers immediately swapped out their guns and barrels, and during the switch, the firepower was reduced by a lot.

Just as the soldiers from the army paused in their attacks, the horde suddenly split open, and over a hundred H1s Evovled Zombies suddenly appear, as they opened their mouths and shot numerous fireballs at the armored vehicles. Many of the vehicles were instantly destroyed at the first moment of that fireball attack, as they exploded, it engulfed and killed the nearby soldiers. The moment the first attack was successful, the countless S1s hiding within the horde immediately shot outwards with speeds like howling winds towards the soldiers. The speed of the S1s were lightning fast and already at a level normal soldiers could not deal with as they crossed a distance of over a 100 meters in only 10 seconds. Although many of the soldiers had finished reloading, quite a number of S1s had already reached the soldiers, and used their claws to slash at the soldiers, claiming many lives. Facing the sudden attack of the S1s, the soldiers of the military immediately lost their fighting spirit, and started to escape towards the back.

Captain 1: "Covering fire!! Covering fire!!"

Under the orders of the command centre, the self-propelled rocket launchers, mortars, multi-barreled missiles all fired at will into the horde of zombies. Large patches of the horde were instantly pulverized and swallowed in flames, burnt into crisps. Those huge H1s numbering in the hundreds were also turned into ash. The various Enhancers within the army also made their moves and started slaughtering the S1s. Everyone must fight if they want to survive. Each soldier knew this. When the various Enhancers of the army made their move, those soldiers under attack were saved. However, while the military had crushed over 73,000 zombies (The bulk of it through the rockets), it had cost them over 400 soldiers on the front lines who were clawed at, leaving them either dead or severely injured. Those who were slashed by the S1s were definitely dead. Adding the 10 armored vehicles that had been destroyed by the H1s, their losses were already huge, but even so the army showed their might as the descendants of samurai and never backed down. Cowardice and fear had long since been discarded and the soldiers kept fighting for the things they needed to protect in the city behind them.

Currently, Team Japan along with the Walking Dead Unit were waiting within the command center setup behind the front lines currently engage in battle. The only exception was Connor. Shin had asked him to keep watch outside with his sniper rifle and his Triggers ready at all time. When Shin thought back on his reasons of cost effectiveness on why he didn't exchange for a few nukes to kill off the possible millions of zombies they would encounter in "H.O.T.D". One reason was cost effectiveness and the other was just not predicting that such a large scale battle would occur in "H.O.T.D", yet the former reason did not apply if you were targeting the human side which only numbered at best in the tens of thousands.

Exchanging for a C tier mini nuclear grenade launcher that has a blast radius of 10km (No radioactive fall out in any of God's exchanges) could wipe most, if not all the soldiers on the front lines. This option would cost a C rank reward and a few thousand points, but it would more than rewarding enough to attempt for the other team. They could destroy the human army stationed on the border of Tokonosu City, kill their chain of command, possibly wipe Team Japan which is within the blast range, and create a opening for the zombie legion to invade and devour the residents of the city unhindered.

Shin: (Which is why I stationed Connor outside and to be ready to snipe any foreign objects flying towards the army from the zombie legion. Just one C tier, or its B tier counter part would wipe us all out if it detonates over us. As a precaution as well against such an attack used over the city I had Komaru, Grim Ash, the sedated Newbies, and the other human creations take cover in a underground bunker. I just told the main characters it was just a precaution without telling them the reason. Still, I'm not counting on us being vaporized by a bomb, but I still ordered Connor to snipe anything resembling a missile or grenade before it reaches us with the Anti-Material Rifle or Eaglet Trigger. Connor's current sniping range can reach 10km if he uses his special eyes and the Eaglet Rifle. In addition, Connor has the side effect to locate evil. He can't locate Team Kenya through the "black mass of death and decay", as he describes it, but will certainly be able to if Team Kenya makes a move against us. Now, as for our reasons staying held up here in this nice tent with air conditioning... wasn't my idea.)

The decision lied with the leader of the army. Supreme Commander Souichiro didn't want to use Team Japan or the Walking Dead Unit's combat potential just yet, so he held back sending out the elite forces right away. Takashi and the main characters looked dissatisfied, but not Team Japan. There was another team out there waiting for them and going out unnecessarily wasn't a good thing. Of course, they wished to do their part and would head out for the rewards for killing zombies, but for the latter there wasn't any point in going out now. From what they've heard the more generous and rewarding evolved zombies were not appearing on the front lines. Just L1s and S1, and only a few of them at that. They were worth 1 point per kill to the entire team so their value wasn't nonexistent, but it wasn't exceptionally high either. Long as only low level zombies were appearing then they were just satisfied by waiting in safety and watching their surprising rewards rack up.

Shuai SL: (Just what is going on? Why are we getting points for kills when we're just sitting around?)

Hikari SL: (I think that it's because of the magic bullets we supplied. Not the materials, but the crafting method. God might consider those our weapons, so we are receiving points for the kills, but just not as much. Proxy. From the reports we have on the number of THEM and evolved zombies gun downed by the army, it matches our rewards, but the number of kills required for the side quest have been multiplied by ten. Really, it's nice to gain some points, but they are so small that it's almost pointless. Only if we kill off the whole zombie legion with bullets would we receive 300 points each, and maybe a few thousand or so points for the evolved zombies. Shin, if you want to make it big this mission we have to come out of hiding.)

Shin SL: (We're not hiding, Hikari. We've just haven't been given the go ahead to move out. Temporarily as it may be we're apart of a organization, so we can't do as we like. I won't bother getting into a conflict with Saya's father over the chance to kill a few normal THEM.)

Aqua SL: (That's right. If going out reveals ourselves to the other team we shouldn't do so meaninglessly. If we're getting some points for the weaker zombie kills small as they are, we should ideally only go after the third level evolved zombies. L3, S3 and Hunter Type 2. Also, our main target the Z3 comand type zombie. Long as we successfully go after those monster each member of the team will end up with a large sum of points and rank rewards.)

Hearing this Hikari understood the team's priorities, but she had her concerns. Even now the legion of zombies were being masked from her scans. Only when she summoned her Persona could she see the undead monsters and wouldn't feel so blind, but still it was troubling. For one keeping her Perosna out and focusing to detect the zombie legion was mentally exhausting. Second, she was worried about locating their priority targets among the zombie legion, but especially the Z3 leading them. If they failed to locate and kill the Z3, and each member failing to obtaining 5000 points and B rank reward, then three random members of their team would be erased. And even if they discovered the monster it wouldn't matter much unless they could get to it in time, which was the most troublesome take of the mission.

Zombies didn't have mental signatures, so she could only visibly locate undead monsters, and so even if she found the Z3, yet if it immediately hid within the ocean of millions of zombies she would absolutely lose sight of it. Hikari had yet to discover any signs of Psyche Force Scans from the enemy team which was the most worrying. Luckily for Team Japan God had set up a masked area covering everything within Tokonosu City with the exception of the zombie legion invading it's borders, but she had yet to feel any attempts to break through. If Team Japan were on the other side of this battle she would have tired, so not feeling any attempts made her worry. Lastly, her own scans were unable to locate the enemy team. Even if they were being masked by the Z3 zombie, the Z3's masked just made those connected to it invisible rather than blocking the scans of Psyche Force, so her scans boosted by her Persona should of found them.

Hikari SL: (Guys, I feel really anxious about the other team. I can't locate them and I haven't felt any scans trying to locate us. Hey, is it possible that their Psyche Force user is much more powerful than me? So much so I can't detect any traces of this person and I'm unable tell if we're being watched?)

Aqua SL: (Honestly, it's a possibility, but is unlikely. I believe Psyche Force skills that have such stealth functions against other Psyche Force users are terribly expensive in points and cost BB-A rank rewards. Of course I'm not not considering the possibility, but it's impossible is what I believe. Hikari has the rare Psyche Force support familiar type Perosna after all. The Z3 has the power to mask his army from normal Psyche Force and is so powerful he can connect to millions of his undead followers, yet with the Persona, Hikari isn't helpless against such a foe.)

Drake SL: (So you don't think they have a Psyche Force user stronger than Hikari in pure power, or at least by so much she can't find any traces of them. I support this opinion. The support type Persona is a incredibly rare familiar type for Psyche Force. I believe Dove United's leader and only five others have ever acquired one to my knowledge, although I can't be certain. I've never looked deeply into-)

Hikari SL: (Wait! It's that rare? So... does that give me the qualifications to call myself a genius. The heroine in my sad excuse for a boyfriend's story?)

Shin SL: (...Moving on, so what does the enemy team's lack of scans mean? They don't have a Psyche Force user? If so it explains why the Z3 has such an ability, or why is it so powerful. Even if we're given the influence advantage as the weaker team, God wouldn't allow the stronger team no hope of survival if our preparations allowed us a 100% chance of wiping them out. It would be 100% if we knew where Team Kenya was and the formation of the zombie legion at all times.)

Jin SL: (If that's how it is... I have an idea. Shin, make a request to the supreme commander for a few thousand cloaks. Hooded jackets and the like just as well. If our theory holds out and Team Kenya can only visual locate us... Hahahah! We'll make them shead tears of blood if they are so confident in wiping ue out once we show ourselves!)

☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

As Team Japan were preparing to give a scare to the other team, Team Kenya as well were discussing the direction they should take in the upcoming battle as they hid within the 3 million populated undead legion. They were watching the battle unfold between Tokonosu City and the zombie legion not ready to make a move yet. As it turned out one of Team Japan's predictions were correct. Team Kenya lacked a Psyche Force user who could scout for them, so they were relying on high grade binoculars to scope the battle safely from a distance to gather information. Although it was certainly less efficient, not using a Psyche Force user allowed them to spy on the other team and the human army of Tokonosu City without revealing themselves by using a ability. Especially an ability that most teams were making use of and thought as mainstream.

Still, lacking a Psyche Force user in the mist of a legion of undead without brain signatures made them stand out like sore thumbs as they were unable to deter regular scans from Team Japan's Psyche Force user. Zombies and other undead type creatures lacked a brainwaves for Psyche Force to pick up, but for the humans of Team Kenya they didn't have such a convenient characteristic. Even so Team Kenya were not helplessly lying in fear of Team Japan's Psyche Force user to spot them. As a team that was regularly without one of their own and experienced up to six Team Battles, they had long since prepared counter measures.

Each one of them, including the Newbies, had consumed a special pill. One designed by Mass Enlightenment and shared with their ally Blood Crusade, that once digested would suppress brainwaves, making it impossible for Psyche Force users to detect them and only allow those they accepted to link minds with, as with the case with the mutant Z3. This pill allowed one to hide from even extremely powerful Psyche Force users, but as the ingredients were extremely rare even by God Dimension standards and was a new product, only trustworthy and powerful individuals and groups within God's Dimension and in the real world were bestowed these miracle pills.

The zombies lead by the Z3 zombie greatly outnumbered the human soldiers defending the city. They only numbered about 10-15 thousand soldiers as far as they saw and were only deploying at any given time about 7,000 to engage the 3 million zombies to conserve their stamina, but as it was playing out in reality before their eyes the human side were standing their ground and even suppressing the legion. With the advantage of powerful weapons such as missiles, tanks, helicopters and other tools of war they had wiped a few hundred thousand zombies within the first few hours, but the what allowed the city to kill over 400,000 zombies since the battle began were surprisingly their ground infantry.

The most of the soldiers were new recruits with little to no battle experience. They were also only armed with so so level of guns falling short of an advanced modern army before the apocalypse. Japan also didn't have a standing army like America and China before the apocalypse as well, and had acquired most of their weapons from American bases stationed in Japan and the JSDF, yet they were slaying zombies in large mass. Only a small fraction of the army were sharp shooters who had the skill to down undead monster like zombies spending very few bullets, yet the soldiers wildly shooting were wiping out zombies left and right without landing head shots or cut through the spinal cords.

Badru: "Hmm, will you look at that. Looks like the enemy has out done themselves this time. We've basically lost the war before it's begun. Hahaha! Luckily we have Psyche Wave Suppression Pills, or else I would be worried. Anyways... Obasi, Lekan, what do you think?"

Badru turned towards two of his comrades.

Obasi was a short man with white skin and neatly combed blonde hair. He seems to come from a home with a very good background by the way he wore a suit that didn't look odd in the mist of a battlefield. On his face was a refreshing smile able to captivate other, but his eyes betrayed his initial good impression. They were cold and glowed with a strange light as he watched the battle unfold.

Lekan was a tall black skinned man only shorter than the seven foot tall Badru by a foot. There was no emotion showing on his face. He had very little interest in the battle, yet because it was their leader Badru who was asking he was willing to speak up.

Obasi: "Hahaha! Nothing is better than two sides killing each other... although it's disappointing that the zombies don't wail in death. It would be better if the human side was on the losing side... but that doesn't look to be happening. Leader, it's safe to say that our enemy supplied the residents of this world with the crafting method for Magic Bullets. Mostly likely Lowest Grade Magic Bullet seeing how fast the zombies are falling in battle, yet also by the death rate on our side. They probably didn't hand over the Medium Grade or Advance Grade Magic Bullets so they will have something to trade with later on and they aren't necessarily needed here on a battle of this scale's quantity and quality. Maybe there also wasn't time for mass production of higher grade bullets, but even if there was time just handing over too much from the start will make it harder later on. That's to our advantage. If they were all armed with Advanced Grade... The 3 million legion of undead would have already fallen, or be on the verge of falling. Especially if the artillery shells and missiles were Advance Grade. I doubt Team Japan physically supplied the whole army with Magic Bullets, so it's most likely just the crafting method. We've lost this battle if we plan to just rely on THEM."

Lekan: "...Why? We have over 200 times their numbers. The Z3 also hasn't sent out the evolved zombies wanting to test the waters for the first encounter. Once our side gets serious-"

Deka: "Get real Lekan!"

Interrupting Lekan was the other female of Team Kenya besides Sakura. A tall woman with black skin, long black hair and a thin frame. Her looks were good enough for her to become a model, although not a top model or movie star level celebrity. As she looked at the battle through her binoculars she couldn't help but frown and worry about their future, and was upset some of them didn't understand why.

Lekan: "...Deka"

Deka: "The Z3 is capable, but we're up against an organized army. With the exception of the few H1 Zombies, most of THEM have no choice but to charge head first towards those soldiers. They are just walking straight into a slaughterhouse when facing an army with missiles and guns. The magic bullets allow a soldier of below average skill with a so-so weapon the ability to possibly kill hundreds of THEM on his own, and each soldier is armed with such weapons. Badru, we should go out and-"

Sakura: "Don't be stupid Deka."

Deka: "!!!"

Deka looked at Sakura with a hate filled gazed as she interrupted her as she called out to their leader. Deka has always been jealous that Sakura had hailed from a high ranking noble family of the Four Pillars, even if one from Mass Enlightenment, since her own family is stationed as a new and low ranking family to Blood Crusade. Sakura was also a far more stunning beauty than herself. In addition she was especially jealous, no hated Sakura for the fact that Badru took a liking to her. Badru was an incredibly powerful and good looking man hailing from a high ranking noble family of Blood Crusade. He may be called a black sheep, but many higher ups in the organization felt that he was a rising star and had high expectations for him.

Badru already had a wife, a white women from an arranged marriage based on genetics from another high ranking noble family. Badru also had a son and a baby on the way for the sake of birthing more talented warriors for the future, but Deka felt that it was a worth while to become this man's mistress. Mistress and the like were far from uncommon in their world, and becoming one will net her a high status if she plays her cards right in the future. She even liked Badru and felt herself more deserving to be by his side than anyone else. That's why Sakura, even a woman without romantic feelings for Badru, but shined brighter than the stars with her potential that rivaled his... was an obstacle in her pursuit of him and success.

Sakura: "Deka, what is our mission? To assassinate the leaders of the military. Badru may be fine with jumping into a large battle, but I'm not. None of us are. If he and I join the frontal assult we may be able to break through and lead THEM into the city, but what about our targets? If I was the commander, I would retreat while my forces still have some power. The Z3 has intelligence, but if the military leaders use their civilians as bait as he and his elite forces and manpower retreat, the Z3 won't pass up the tens of thousands of lives within the city. His goal is human flesh which will allow for the growth of higher level evolved zombies. The Z3 will also wish to dine on the fless of humans to evolve further into a Z4, so he won't bother chasing a few thousand soldiers who could kill more of his elites. He'll take his spoils of war within the city. At that point we'll be on our own to look for them. We don't have a Psyche Force user, so it's all to easy to lose sight of our targetd. We're also on a time limit. We only have five, no less than five days now to kill our targets. Once we lose sight of them in the chaos of the zombie legion's victory its our loss. We might even lose sight of Team Japan."

Badru: "Oh, good point Sakura, but what then do you suggest we do?"

Sakura: "...We'll infiltrate and swiftly assassinate the leaders of the enemy army! It's a simple plan. We'll use our vastly greater numbers to our advantage. Badru, tell the Z3 to keep up the attack on the city and press as hard as possible. This will keep soldiers at bay and possibly expend their resources and personnel. Our team will then break through and infiltrate the city. We'll have Deka do what she does best. She'll locate the targets of our mission and if she can the members of Team Japan. Deka has low combat ability, but her special skill works best for a team launching a sneak attack."

Badru: "Sounds boring."

Sakura: "Our survival and victory don't have anything to do with your enjoyment! But don't worry about that. We'll have you test Team Japan's power for the team. You have reached the Third Stage of the Genetic Constraint. Your enhancements are heavily power based and the stats that you've enhanced the most with Stat Packages are Muscle Density and Reaction Speed. Your fighting style has high power and defense, and your not suited for group battles. It best to just send you off to fight alone to either kill off Team Japan or our targets listed in the mission. Soon we'll have you make a scene to draw them out. In the meantime well use this opening to infiltrate and assassinate our main targets. You can retreat once we are safe, or do whatever it is you want. I don't care and I won't take responsibility for your life, mad dog."

Badru: "So I'm the bait who stupidly reveals himself to have everyone come and kill... Hahah! Amusing! I like it a lot, but what do I do if I can just kill Team Japan and everyone else who shows up?"

Sakura: "Kill or capture them for us. Also, get someone to tell you the location of the main cast, our targets, and any Newbies of Team Japan. If you're so much stronger than Team Japan then it's pointless to think up a plan, and so why should I bother making up one? You also don't like to stick to complicated plans like in the team battle against Absolute Reckoning's Team Italy. I came up with a surefire plan to win with no casualties, but when I told you to sit back for ten days, you immediately jumped up and left to go after the other team. You wiped them all out, but your foolishness cost us our Main Mission and two comrades. I won't bother with you anymore Badru since you'll do as you like anyways, so just wait one day Badru. Just wait one day so Deka can make her preparations, and then just go and jump out and fight everyone who comes to kill you. Kill, retreat, or just die for all I care."

Deka: "Hey! Just who do you think you are talking to!? You're just a replacement from Mass Enlightenment! What right do you have to tell our leader to-"

Badru: "Its fine Deka. Sakura isn't my wife, but she knows exactly what it is that I like. I'm also aware of my own shortcomings, so I don't care if she plans accordingly. It's actually better this way, so we'll go with Sakura's plan. Tomorrow I'll face off against Team Japan, the main character who could be quite strong themselves, and the human army. Everyone else will sneak in to find the leaders of the human army. Where they live and what they look like, and you'll assassinate them! Hahaha... but Hanif will stay behind. The Z3 seems to be quite taken with your abilities. Hanif, how is it? Do you think you can upgrade the entire legion with your demons?"

Badru looked towards Hanif who was sitting cross leg on the streets of the city with a book in one hand. This book seemed to belong to the occult and and as Hanif was reading through it you could find the cover of the book and it's pages made of glistening and wet skin. Human skin in fact which made it all the more creepier. Then there, sprawled out and laying on the ground in front of him were the bodies of various zombie. Normal types, L1s, L2, S1, S2, and even Hunter Type 1 and H1 evolved zombie. They lied there motionlessly truly dead for good and in the center of each of their chest were large wounds. These chest wounds were the fatal wounds which killed each of the zombies, yet these weren't caused from someone killing them with a outside force. Something... something from within their bodies had burst out and resulted with their deaths.

Hanif: "...Not too good leader. Unfortunately only the most evolved zombies of each type were able to adapt to the demon parasites. Our plan to counter Team Japan with both quantity and quality won't work out like we hoped."

Badri: "It's fine. The quality is good enough. I suspect these evolved zombie are worth at least a D rank reward for Team Japan. Just upgrading them to give the other side more trouble when they go after them is good enough. Hanif, the Z3 has seen the results of the upgrade and wants you to precede to implant the demon parasites into the rest of his elite evolved zombies... and himself as soon as possible. Afterwards stick closely to the Z3 tomorrow. Although you've unlcoked the First Stage, your enhancements aren't suitable for direct combat unless you reach the Fifth Stage where you can create your own near endless source of power for the Quest Item "Prelati's Spellbook: Text of the Sunken Spiraled City", but the Z3 and his L3, S2, and Hunter Type 2 bodyguards will protect you since you have the highest value in it's eyes."

Hanif: "Yes. I won't leave the Z3's side... but could you all bring back some dead bodies? Specific Enhancers and Evovlers. With high quality training materials for my water demons, my abilities should shoot up!"

Sakura: "Tch! Blood Crusade mad man. You have not a bit respect for the dead, do you?"

Hanif: "Oh, does the woman of Mass Enlightenment still have a problem with my methods? Mass Enlightenment and Blood Crusade are pretty much the same in the end. We use fun to excuse our massacres and you guys use the betterment of society as yours. We're both killers fated for hell, so-"

Hanif didn't have the chance to utter another word as a transparent blade of ice flew from Sakura's hands and cut off his right arm. This skinny right arm covered in bandage hit the ground and a few seconds later began to squirm violently before crawling with its fingers and reattaching itself back to Hanif as good as new. During all of this Hanif didn't so much as scream from the pain or reattachment of his arm. He could only die if both his heart and brain were destroyed. An added benefit of making demonic contract with Prelati's Spellbook, although it cost him his flesh and blood being consumed by the demons of the book as he lacked the adequate Mana supply to use the spell book.

Sakura: "Freak! I knew it was a mistake to give you that Quest Item from Fate Zero."

Badru: "Sakura, let it go. We have things to do. Everyone make your preparations. Our battle against Team Japan... starts soon!"
