A sane and rational person would scream and run away if a 15 meter tall monster would suddenly appear in their city.
However, a Vermilion City citizen would welcome it as an entertaining distraction in their daily routine.
Bets would be taken as to which superhero will respond this time, how long would said hero/heroes take to bring it down, which supervillain was responsible, and so on and so forth.
This might come as a surprise, but the viewership of standard entertainment such as basketball, baseball and talk shows often took a large dip during a live news coverage of another world ending monster appeared in Vermilion City.
Despite being under constant threat of annihilation, or maybe because of it, there will always be something interesting happening in the City of Blood and Gore.
This time around, the star of the show was someone no one expected.
A single streak of fire stood out from the otherwise clear blue sky. Eventually the fire died out to reveal a relatively wide 10 meter tall metallic cylinder.
At 1000 meters from the ground, a large amount of thrusters fired up from the bottom and sides to slow down the descent.
At 500 meters, the the lower half disengaged itself and released a large number of small high explosive munitions to the ground below.
A chorus of BOOMs rocked the 69th District
This served 2 purpose:
1.) To annihilate any stranglers in the area.
While Theo was confident that his spy drone army could detect every living thing in the area of operation, he preferred to be doubly sure that all threats were obliterated.
To quote a famous phrase from an ancient philosopher:
"Kill it with fire.... Then nuke it just to be sure."
2.) To create a smoke screen.
With so much dust and smoke kicked up by the barrage of explosions, no one would be able to see Theo entering the Terminator.
Speaking of Theo, he was currently inside a bathtub where he was quivering in fear.
Why?
It was because one of the thrusters on the Terminator Delivery System suddenly burned out at the last second. This caused that massive chunk of metal to veer ever so slightly off course.
The original touchdown spot was 20 meters from the building where Theo was hiding in.
This was to ensure that he would not get hit by any debris that would inevitably come flying from the violent landing of the orbital drop pod.
Where was the actual location of the drop pod?
It was a mere 3 meters away from Theo's current location.
If he did not jump into the bathroom at the last second, he would have been flattened by his own creation.
"..... Wew.... Thank the Creator that I made sure to not eat too much this morning.... I would have shitted in my pants if I did..."
One does not simply drop a complicated piece of equipment from orbit and expect everything will go well.
Theo exited the now swiss cheese bathroom and approached the large cylinder.
Like many of Theo's Theo-only gadgets, the only way to access it was via transmutation.
He made a small hole from the 2 meter thick outer shell and crawled in.
There was a slight opening on the back portion of the Terminator where he could squeeze into.
He used his midas alchemy to seal himself in the 3 meter tall machine and said...
"Showtime."
-:-
A pillar of flame shot out from the metal cylinder as a large 5 finger claw tore through it.
From the inferno stepped out a majestic entity clad in armor of jewel encrusted gold.
On its right hand it wielded something that looked less of like a weapon and more like a work of art. Technically it was a maul (2 handed hammer) but it's appearance resembled that of a finely made ceremonial staff used by priests.
Yet despite it's beauty, the name 'Will Breaker' made it perfectly clear that this thing was no decoration.
With a large fiery left hand and a small yet intimidating cannon on its right shoulder, the Machine God graced the world with it's majesty once more.
So great was the Machine God's presence that every set of eyes, be it from bystanders to news cameras, was focused the 3 meter golden warrior and not on the scary 15 meter tall abomination.
Even said abomination was shrinking back as the Machine God took a step forward.
As the 2 combatants stared at each other, Theodore Lorne thought to himself....
"Shit.... That thing is huge! I'm not sure if the Terminator can bring it down!"
As he was about to call for reinforcements, a sharp pain shot through his brain.
Not only his mind, but also his instincts, body and soul were screaming to him...
DO NOT HURT IT!
DO NOT MAKE IT SUFFER!
DO NOT KILL IT!
This greatly confused Theo.
For someone who's body count was probably in the thousands, why the hell was his entire being literally trying to stop him from even hurting the abomination?
Something was off and he couldn't figure it out.
While confusion was hindering him, a sudden call from the coms snapped him back to reality.
"Theo! You have to get me a sample of that thing!" said the excited Nichola.
He could even hear her raged breath through the coms.
"Well, someone's horny. Looks like I'm going to have fun tonight." replied Theo.
"Huh? You're coming home? Already? I thought you have a few more days of undercover work?"
"My cover was blown the moment the Terminator came into play. No way I can return to that den of lust now."
"I see.... Crap.... Ah! I know! Juno is probably really backed up right now! I'll give up my turn for her!"
"As the comunal husband of this harem, I am vetoing that. You're going to go first wether you want it or not!"
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! My vacation from sex is so short lived! I've been making so much headway with my experiments!"
"Speaking of experiments, taking a sample from the 15 meter tall abomination is a no go."
"Eh?! Why?!"
"You can see my physical status from there right? For some reason, my body is physically reacting negatively to the idea of hurting the abomination."
"Let me see here.... Oh my... You're right. It's like you're having a severe allergic reaction. Any idea why?"

"I was hoping you could tell me."
"Well I cant unless I have both you and that thing in my lab."
"Then I'll bring this thing in alive. By the way, this thing is in a metamorphosis form. Better have some counter measures ready for that."
"Eh? How does a science guy like you even know that?"
"I really have no idea. I just know for some reason."
"Got it.... But this is definitely getting weird."
"Tell me about it. Oh, and send Juno here with the best load out you can give her. I'm going to need help bringing this thing down without killing it."
"Roger that. And be careful, will you?"
"I suggest you worry about yourself. You may be a month or so pregnant, but that doesnt mean I'll show you any mercy in bed."
"Tch. Way to ruin the moment you perverted bastard."
"Flattery will get you nowhere."
"Just shut up and fight already!"
With that comedic skit out of the way, the Terminator proceeded onward to meet its new foe.
The Abomination roared and Theo understood that it was out of fear. It was as if it was telling the Terminator to stay away from it.
Out of sheer fright, the abomination swung its massive left arms at the Terminator.
With no mobility to dodge, Theo fire the Predator Shoulder Cannon at one of the abomination's legs to knock it off balance.
At that point, he clearly did not understand how truly powerful the shoulder cannon was.
Though small, the leg was as thick as a building. Yet the cannon punched a decently sized hole into it and destroyed 2 buildings after exiting the leg.
Naturally, with great power came great drawbacks.
It worked similarly to Theo's left arm where it would nearly drain an archon battery for a temporary boost in power.
In the Predator's case, it used an archon battery the size of a regular human's torso. This was the main reason of its overwhelming power.
Sadly, every time Theo fired it, the archon battery had to be replaced as well. If he didn't do that, said battery would be permanently destroyed instead of temporarily drained.
While he also had a drone dedicated to swapping out the battery, doing so in the heat of the battle was not exactly possible.
Despite being off balanced, the one of the abomination's left arms was still on track of landing a clean hit.
Theo responded by smacking said arm with the Will Breaker. The shock wave it generated rivaled that of a large bomb.
Normally, Theo would find great satisfaction of hearing his prey scream as he broke their bones.
Surprisingly, he did not feel such euphoria this time around.
As the abomination screamed in pain through its many mouths, Theo felt like a sword was being shoved into his heart.
It was as if he was hitting his own child. It felt horrible, disgusting and down right wrong.
Theo was so agonized by his actions that tears began flowing from his eyes.
He hated doing this with all of his heart, but he had to do it to pacify the confused beast.
As such, he unleashed the Terminator's wrath upon his enemy.
He fired off the omni directional flame thrower and turned the entire area into a sea of flames. At the same time, he swung the Will Breaker at any body part within reach.
The abomination tried to get away but crawling through fire made its efforts painful and slow.
It tore a building off its hinges and threw it at the Terminator.
A single hit from the Will Breaker broke said projectile into harmless pebbles.
By this time, the Predator Shoulder Cannon has already finished reloading and swapping out it's archon battery.
Theo shot the abomination in the stomach. It didn't go through its huge body, but there was a large bloody hole on it.
"Shit!Shit!Shit!Shit!Shit!Shit!Shit!Shit!Shit!Shit!Shit!Shit!Shit!"
Theo hated this battle.
Every second of it was pure torture.
He wanted it to and so badly.
And as you'd expect from the ever chaotic Vermilion City, things just got complicated fast.
Suddenly, a bolt of lightning struck the abomination from behind. It was followed by a large bombardment of rocks, a heat beam and a decent amount of rockets.
It seems that the HAA has sent 3 A ranked Superheroes and 5 AH-46 Apache attack helicopters to stop the threat.
Normally Theo would be thrilled to work with the Superheroes.
Not this time.
And to make matters even more complex, the abomination was showered by multiple volleys of exploding arrows from 2 directions.
On one side was a fancy chariot that was being pulled by a pair of 8 legged horses known as Sleipnirs. On the reigns was a fully armored Vanadis with Himiko Yagyu a samurai bow.
On the other side was Juno in her signature pure white armor using a bow similar to Himiko's. Her steed was the same creepy violet skinned, long tongued demonic horse Nichola used during the Valkyrie Incident.
Every time the 2 notched a single arrow, they charged it with high amounts of mana before letting it loose. It splits into 30 exploding arrows and bombarded a decently sized area.
It was a good ability, especially for Juno who had abysmal range accuracy.
FYI: Even with such a large target, Juno somehow still missed 29/30 shots.
It was.... embarrassing.
Eventually the trio stopped in front of the Terminator.
Juno took off her helm before she knelt in front of the golden machine.
Though slightly late, Vanadis followed suite.
Himiko, on the other hand, was too awestruck to even consider following Juno's lead.
"As per my lord's request, Juno Saiga has come as reinforcements." said Juno in her usual role play mode.
Before Theo could greet them, another person approached the Terminator.
It was a woman in her mid 20's who had a perfect of muscle and femininity.
"My name is Earth Shaker. An A ranked asset of the Hero Alliance. My team has come to support your endeavor in eliminating this threat." said the woman.
Theo wasn't familiar with this one. Probably a newbie A ranker.
"Your presence is unnecessary mortal. Leave." replied Theo as he role played as the Machine God.
"If we combine our powers, we can take this thing down faster."
"This is a personal bout between me and the monster. Do not interfere mortal."
"Well this is our city! We will defend it as we see fit!"
Theo could not help but sigh in annoyance. He was never good with the 'I dont take No for an answer' type of people before.
He either caved to their demands or just end up shooting them in anger.
Juno was a prime example of this.
Unfortunately for Earth Shaker, there was something that instantly drained Theo's patience.
The abomination screamed in agony as the lightning user unleashed a constant stream of pain.
Despite it's size and strength, the abomination was too clumsy to be considered a threat. Even when flailing like mad, none of its attacks connected.
But most importantly, the screams broke Theo's heart. It was simply too painful for him to listen to.
"This is your last warning mortal. Leave or die." said Theo.
"Ha! I dare you to kill me!" replied Earth Shaker.
While her confidence were well founded thanks to the many eye witnesses such as the media and the HAA command, she failed to realize that the one she was talking to literally did not give a fuck.
Before she knew it, the Will Breaker turned her body into paste.
Everyone who witnessed this was shocked to say the least.
"Saiga and Norscan. Kill all of those who refuse to retreat." said Theo
""Yes My Lord."" replied Juno and Vanadis.
"Samurai. If you can stomach killing, join the 2. If not, stay out of our way."
The reluctance in Himiko's face was very clear. However, after a few seconds of internal conflict, she readied her bow and ran after Juno and Vanadis.
Naturally, the allies of Earth Shaker did not take her death well.
The superheroes tried to go for the Machine God, but were forced to deal with a goddess of a war loving people and a monster with millennias worth of combat experience. They were immediately beaten back and were on the fast track to an early grave.
The AH-46 Apaches unloaded their entire arsenal at the Terminator, but all of it merely bounced off heavily armored machine.
Theo retaliated with the minigun built into the left arm of the Terminator.
The AH-46s were not built to withstand a barrage of 7.62x51mm NATO rounds. With a gun that could fire 100 bullets per second, the helicopters crumbled almost instantly.
After taking down 3 of them, the remaining survivors made a hasty retreat.
As for the superheroes, they were very much dead.
Such was expected when going up against combat veterans.
It was easy. Way too easy.
But now came the hard part.
"Well then, how the hell are we suppose deal with the abomination?"
Beating down the beast was easy given its clumsy nature.
However, the process itself was torture beyond comprehension. Theo was unsure of his heart could take anymore of this.
And as if reading his mind, he received a text message from Juno.
"I have a plan. Play along. Don't worry. It wont die."
"My lord. I request your blessing." said Juno as she held the Terminator's Fire Claw hand.
"Do it Saiga." replied Theo who decided to see what she was up to.
While still holding the Fire Claw, Juno knelt and began to pray.
"May the Lord accept these sacrifices in my hand
For their death is glory to his name
For their blood and my steel are the foundations of his holy church."
A familiar pain shot through Theo's brain.
Though considerably less in terms of intensity, it was the same discomfort he felt in the last month's Eldorado Election Incident.
Once again his Midas Alchemy was being activated on a manner defied logic and common sense.
Unlike Theo's massive fist in the sky, a small golden 10 meter square gate opened in front of Juno. Countless mechanical arms, each holding a melee weapon, stuck out from the shimmering veil.
As she took a large 2 handed pile bunker, the gate disappeared.
"Juno Saiga! You're an Apostle of the Machine God?!" asked the shocked Vanadis.
"No where near my husband's level of power, but yes. I am an apostle." replied Juno.
"But this manifestation looks so much different from what Lorne used a month ago! A god can only give one type of blessing!"
"Your worthless Norscan Gods *wink* thinks of apostles as pawns. As such, the power they receive reflects how little interest the Gods have for their well being. My Lord is not like your pagan filth. He tailor makes his power to bring the best synergy possible with his apostle. In my case, the manifestation comes in the form of an armory that creates weapons capable of mixing the 3 branches of power."
"But if you focus on fine tuning one apostle, you'll be limiting the number of apostles you command"
"Yup. That's why my lord only has 2 apostles."
While Theo was not familiar with the magical arts, he was surprised that he complete understood what Juno was talking about.
Before Vanadis could ask more questions, Juno rushed towards the limping abomination.
As she approached her target, an engine at the tail end of pile bunker began spinning.
The temperature around her swayed erratically from bellow freezing to molten hot.
Once in range, Juno impaled the pile bunker into one of it's toes. Ice began to spread at a rapid pace and fully engulfed the abomination in 10 seconds flat.
Immediately after, the pile bunker broke apart and turned into ash.
"MGA-381 Cocytus. A Cryostasis weapon powered by an 8th dimension specific mineral called 'Vespine Gas'. However, the weapon cannot withstand the sheer power flowing through it, hence its entire existence gets obliterated after use."
Much to Theo's surprise, the explanation came not from Juno but from his very own mouth.
Those were knowledge that he clearly did not have, yet he spouted it all of like it was common sense.
Something was happening to him and he was very uneasy that he failed to understand any of it.
One thing is for sure though, he somehow knew the MGA-381 Cocytus was built specifically for capturing extremely powerful individuals.
The cryostasis was reversible.
"The abomination is secured. Time to head home and get some answers."
