Chapter 119
Left Hand of God 11
-:-
1 week later
The City of Atlantis
After the death of Aquarius and the surrender of Atlantis, this has been early peaceful.
Juno’s invaders has pretty much left the Atlantians alone for most part.
The only thing that invaders have done in the past few days were the following:
Repair their ship and get them back to the water.
Made alterations to the barrier surrounding the island, namely stopping that annoying storm. The invisibility part was left untouched.
Erected a couple of pre-made monoliths around the island.
Aside from these, there was very little interference from the invaders on the daily lives of the Atlantians.
Naturally, the locals hated the invaders right to their very core, but they kept it to themselves in fear of punishment.
Their sentiments didn't matter to Juno whatsoever, because her goal was close at hand.
However, much to the Atlantian’s surprise, every single one of the invaders left the city on the 7th day. Their ships remained approximately 50 kilometers outside the barrier
Why?
The answer was beneath the Atlantian’s feet.
Far below the city was a beautiful jet black pyramid. The carvings were exquisite, the statues were masterpieces.
Juno, clad in full armor with the Atlantian Trident in hand, climbed to the very top of the pyramid to find a large 2 meter tall man that was chained to what seemed to be a throne.
However, calling this a ‘MAN’ was an insult to humanity.
This ‘thing’ was a bunch of tentacles that looked like a human. It had mouths, eyes and other indescribable things appearing and disappearing on its body.
The ‘man’ on the throne could be described in one word: Chaos.
Complete and utter Chaos.
“Oh? What do we have here? A worshiper? If so, then feel free to kneel.” said the thing.
“Hahaha. Sadly no. I’m here to kill you. Nothing personal.” reply Juno.
“Kill? Me? HAHAHAHAHA! Good one! I haven't heard a good joke in decades! You please me, little welp! As a reward, bask in my glory!” replied the thing.
Weird lights began to flash all over. Reality begin to twist, turn, break and reform. Unexplainable sounds echoed out of nowhere. The smell of god-knows-what seered the nostrils.
The bombardment of discomfort, madness and chaos bombarded the senses.
FYI: this was not magic, nor special ability, nor psychological attack.
This was just a byproduct of the ‘thing’ breathing.
Even without meaning to, the thing’s mere presence drove people mad.
A normal human, hell, even a superhuman, would go insane from this level of madness.
However, Juno had a very different reaction.
“To think you were weakened to this extent. Very good. This make things much much easier” said Juno as she took out a weird book.
It was pure white and its pages seemed to be made of cotton.
Before the thing could ask what the hell was Juno, the words she spoke shocked it.
“Jafjfajiopafjqopiwrjoanhofvaidgnoaoidgjaopijrewqjiewqirtqnkgzalahfipafapheuiwqqauiwhqalkdflasdjklfjkhlasdfasfjkldafhdaksfhadoivzdizovvziozvioh”
It was a language that was not physically possible for a human to speak, yet it flowed naturally out of Juno’s mouth.
“IT CANT BE!” shouted the thing as it futilely tried to break itself from the mysterious chains that bound it to the chair
Topside, the monoliths made by invaders began to glow red. Even the tall towers that formed the barrier glowed eerily.
Black letters began to through the monoliths and the barriers.
And after a tense minute, the city of Atlantis was covered in red mist.
This was not a mist made by the towers. This mist was the result of every last living thing suddenly exploding.
Every last man, woman and child blew up at the same time and was turned into red mist.
It was quick and painless.
The blood mist were sucked into the monoliths and, for some weird reason, turned Juno’s white book into bloody red.
Juno used the Trident to manipulate all the blood from the book and turned it into a deep obsidian dagger.
The dagger shot towards the thing while Juno activated her power and turned herself transparent.
This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.
The obsidian dagger impaled itself in the thing’s chest.
The thing screamed in agony as it’s power began going haywire. A second later, a massive explosion carved out an equally massive crater in the middle of Atlantis.
As the dust settled a few minutes later, Juno found herself basking at the heat of the midday sun as she marveled at the beauty of the blue sky.
Everything above and around the epicenter was obliterated. The only thing that was safe within the blast radius was the black pyramid.
“WHAT DID YOU DO TO ME, WELP?!” roared the thing as it painfully rose from the throne.
It seemed that the shackles that bound it were undone, though this was within Juno’s expectation.
“You Outer Gods have many enemies you know? And most of them would gladly lend a hand if it means screwing you guys over.” replied the boastful Juno. ”The magic is ‘Tezcatlipoca’s Discord’. It’s a human made spell used by the Aztecs to cause a person’s internal energy to become unstable. An anti-magic spell if you will. The language used in the incantation was from the Mi-Go who refined the spell to the highest degree possible.”
“Tch. Those filthy insects. I’ll slaughter them later. But then again, you did free me from my eternal bond, though it hurt quite a lot. How about this, kneel before me and swear loyalty, and I’ll allow you to live as my servant.”
“I kneel only to the true god of humanity. The very idea that a piece of filthy like you exist on his domain is blasphemy in the highest magnitude”
“Ha! Tell me the name of this foolish god you serve so I can find and slaughter him?” asked the thing as it summoned 2 khopeshs out of nowhere.
“By the authority blessed upon me by Machine God, I, Juno Saiga, the Left hand of God sentence you, Nyarlathotep, TO DEATH!”
-:-
5 minutes later
Juno’s forces knew instinctively that she was a monster. This was the main reason why she was their leader.
However, none of them has actually seen Juno fight with everything she had.
Atleast, not until this moment.
The battle that was ensuing in the middle of the now sinking city of Atlantis made them realize that Juno has been playing around all this time.
There was no way the duel they were witnessing was between humans.
The thing called Nyarlathotep swung his khopeshs with such force that it sent blades of wind that sliced things a few meters away. Every time, these blades hit the ground, it was as if an artillery shell just landed.
Juno was equally monstrous.
She was using the Trident of Atlantis, a weapon she ‘received’ a mere week ago, with greater mastery than the previous owner.
Juno was on the defensive as she desperately blocked the extremely fast and extremely powerful strikes of Nyarlathotep.
In order to avoid the slicing winds of his strikes, Juno had the trident constantly wrapped in water.
Whenever their weapons connected, the water would spin in the direction that redirected the khopeshs away from Juno’s body.
At the same time, this water barrier would turn into a blade and violently cleave her attacker.
Juno might be being pushed back, but she was the one doing damage.
Fortunately, the Tezcatlipoca’s Discord spell has made a large dent on Nyarlathotep’s regeneration and damage mitigation abilities. This was very visible in the open wounds on the Outer God’s body.
Naturally, Nyarlathotep found this particularly infuriating.
“You dare make me bleed so much?! You clearly don't know your place, welp!” roared Nyarlathotep as power began to surge violently from his body.
While the Tezcatlipoca’s Discord caused most of his power to go haywire and not form into anything tangible, the Outer God’s power was still extremely destructive even in such an unstable state.
Spikes began sprouting from the ground.
Lighting erupted on random intervals from Nyarlathotep.
Gravity disappeared and reappeared on random areas on the map as massive boulders began to float and fall.
Rifts in space appeared where tentacles sprouted out and began thrashing at random.
“Now this is more like it!” roared Juno as she lunged with the fury of a rabid beast.
Nyarlathotep jumped unto one of the floating rocks and launched a barrage of slashes, sending blades of wind at the approaching Juno.
Juno zigzagged as she approached Nyarlathotep.
While she did use the trident’s water barrier, the wind blade came in such velocity that it cleaved through the barrier and almost sliced off one of her arms.
If it wasn't for the regeneration of the Sanngrior Valkyrie Armor’s regeneration, she would have lost a limb right then and there
Juno jumped from one floating rock to another while dodging the barrage of wind blades and the occasional lightning bolts.
As she was to enter melee range, a tentacle the size of a truck appeared from thick air and smashed her into the rock…. Or at least that was what was suppose to happen.
Juno’s silhouette became transparent and she phased through the attack without any harm.
Though this made Nyarlathotep raise his non existent eyebrows, he thought this was nothing more than a personal special ability and thought nothing of it.
He would soon find out that this was a mistake.
Juno dodged, weaved and phased through the torrent of wind blades, lightning bolts and tentacles until they were both at striking range of each other.
Juno unleashed the Trident’s kill move. She overloaded the trident with power before throwing it at Nyarlathotep at point blank range.
Even she won't miss at this range.
Nyarlathotep did try to stop her by chopping her head off, but his blades simply phased through Juno’s neck without resistance.
The trident drilled through Nyarlathotep’s body and threw him into another floating rock about 50 meters away.
The trident went through 5 floating rocks the size of a house, a few hundred tentacles and into the edge of the crater before it finally lost momentum.
Juno reached out her hand, and not a second later, the Trident seemingly teleported into her grasp.
She then lunged at the downed Nyarlathotep and showered him with slash, stabs and water blades.
Nyarlathotep desperately crawled away from Juno, but she refused to relent.
It might be dishonorable to attack a defenseless man when he’s literally down, but Juno was no fool.
While weakened to the point of almost matching Juno’s current state, Nyarlathotep was an Outer God. This was probably the only time that she’ll find so much coincidences lining up in her favor against Nyarlathotep.
This the only time she’d get to kill an Outer God without investing a world’s worth of manpower and resources.
It has to be now.
“Please! Enough! I relent!” begged Nyarlathotep before Juno cleaved off one of his tentacle arms.
She kept hacking and slashing and stabbing until the head of Nyarlathotep was the only thing in one piece.
She used the trident and casted a massive frost nova that froze everything inside the crater.
And then, for the first time since her renewed existence in this world, Juno dropped to her knees and began panting like crazy.
She took of her helm and took in large amounts of air.
She was sweating profusely and the hand that held the trident was shaking quite violently.
The Sanngrior Valkyrie Armor allowed her to unleash all of what she had in her body, but this took a heavy toll. The armor allowed her to keep fighting despite draining all her power, but such was the price she needed to pay to win against a weakened Outer God.
Using the trident as a walking stick, Juno limped to the head of Nyarlathotep.
“Please! Don't kill me! I’ll give you anything! I don't want to die!” pleaded Nyarlathotep
“Don't lie. This body of yours is nothing more than avatar. It’s a small piece of you that you probably forgotten all about. Even if I kill this body, you won't even notice that it died.” replied the exhausted Juno.
“Oh. So you knew about that. What a killjoy.” replied Nyarlathotep in a pouting manner, as if his previous pleading was a lie. “Well, you’re right anyways. This body is but a nose hair to my entire being. But before you claim your prize, I have to ask: What will you gain from this costly duel?”
“I just want this body’s soul stone. Nothing more.”
“My soul stone? *sigh*... What a fool. You cant just extract something that does not technically exist” said Nyarlathotep, until a realization struck him and shook him to his very core. “Don't tell me… that phasing ability of yours is Azathoth’s-”
Juno cut off Nyarlathotep by plunging her phased hand into his head.
“You don't need to know.”
She then pulled out a mysterious black rock out of Nyarlathotep, which resulted in the head withering and fading out of existence.
Completely out of energy, Juno lied on her back and turned on her coms.
“Mission Accomplished. Send someone to pick me up.”
With that said, Juno closed her eyes for a much needed nap.
