I went to the table to check out what was all the fuss about.
"I have you written down here that you betted on something else." The Adventurer with scar on his face said a battle axe was sitting right beside his leg. While his buddy was beside him.
The other Adventurer only glared for a while before faltering and stepping away.
Some other people came to the front and the scarred man gave them money.
" What's the bet about?" I asked the Adventurer next to me. He didn't even look at me before responding.
"It was bout the newcomer, if he returns alive or as a dead body. I heard that newcomer managed to survive, but he has some loose screws now." He then turned to the scarred Adventurer and said to him." Oi Frank ain't it right that the newcomer became a nutjob."
Frank turned to us and said " There are some rumours, but aren't you, too. After the Warhammer that hit your head like a ball? Besides I told you that It's better to go bet on him surviving. I made a bag with George here. Besides he's standing next to you.”
That's a welcome to hear that such rumours travel so fast. I went to the reception as the atmosphere there got a bit weird.
I rang a bell that was on the counter. I didn't have to wait a long time before some receptionist came out. I asked if I could turn a part of my quest in for a part of the reward. She said it's possible so I placed on the counter the two mandibles. She told me to wait. She went through the back door to verify them before coming back with two silver coins that she handed me.
I went to the bar and took one beer and a half of bread that cost me 50 coppers. She handed me back 50 coppers. I found a lone table in one corner where I sat.
I have 1 silver 50 coppers that won't buy me much. Let's say I'll be only eating bread and drinking some water from well. That'll mean I'll still have to pay about 20 coppers for a half of bread. Even if it's from the market where the price won't be so much. That'll make me spend 60 coppers a day. And I'll have to do a risky job for this small change.

At least now that I have my first skill It'll be easier to kill the monsters. If I can kill some monsters by burning. I should be able to unlock [Fire arrow ] a first active skill that I'll have.
In the game it was one of the more basic ones, but in some situations It can be a killing weapon like no other. It's unfortunate that the game wasn't out for too long and the strongest player reached only Tier 3.
And now I'm stuck here.
I looked as the group dispersed back to their tables and the hall returned to its usual state. A bell ringing was heard coming all around. The adventurers all around sat up and came to the reception area.
They grouped up there pushing and shoving each other to get to the front sooner. I walked to Frank and his comrade George and three other people that were with them.
" What's happening?" I asked.
" Well newcomer, it’s war. And as for them they think they can evade the war by going Dungeon crawling." Frank said and waved his hand in dismissal." As for us We're going to help on the walls."
" Wouldn't the guards force them to join or the guild in fighting?" I asked.
" For now, they won't but after our manpower will be running short. They'll be forced to join. I say Frank why don't we bet? I think they'll join tomorrow." A black haired woman said. She had a short bow on her back and was outfitted in all leather armour aimed for high mobility.
" Why don't you all stop betting on stupid things and maybe you'll have some money to get new gear and not bother me about lending you some. Remember you still haven't paid me." A middle aged man with shield and sword said. He was outfitted in a mix of leather and plated armour.
" I said I'll pay you back after the next two Dungeon crawls and we only did one since then. But don't worry I'll pay you back once we get the paycheque for the defense." She said and hung her arm around his neck.
" What do you mean a paycheque?" I asked her and she turned to me before answering.
" The guild posted an emergency quest in defending this town. You should go pick it or pick one for Dungeon diving. So that you're not treated as a deserter." She said and went back to preparing.
Other than Frank's group there were two other groups that were separated from the crowd.
I watched as they all headed out.
So either I go into the Dungeon and pretend as if nothing’s happening or I go and join the fray.
I should go into the Dungeon and level up with relative stability. But I got into this World for something and to be someone. Not some nobody that's just someone's stepping stone or a walking loot.
I went into the line and waited my turn.
" We still have some quests for spiders" The receptionist started saying. I handed her my ID.
" No, I'd like to take the town defense quest" I cut her off.
" But I see here that you still haven't finished your quests."
" It should still have some days to complete it."
" Yeah, ok. If you think you'll manage. Here you go." She handed me back the ID.
I took it and went out.
