Chapter 22

When she rested enough in my arms, I picked her up and let her hug my neck from behind. We continued on our way to the forest biome.

There weren't a lot of monsters to be found around so in the end we resorted for taking out some baby spiders right by the entrance to the biome.

It wasn't that hard as I was left alone. I left Charlotte to Stella. I killed one of the spider babies and the horde came out as usual. But this time, I sneaked up on three of them and put them in sacks.

I left the area and came to the forest biome where they were waiting for me.

I let Charlotte kill them by stabbing the sacks. This time she was braver and her hands didn't tremble.

I put her stat point into WIZ as by doing so she had more mana to cast her spell. I also put a point into the

" Do you feel anything different?" I said to her and petted her head as she was looking at the ground.

" I now have some weird symbol in my mind."

" How about you think about that weird symbol and point your hands towards that tree."

I saw her deep in thought as she did as I told her, but after a while she grasped it and blue particles started bursting from her hands.

I had to hold back Stella so she doesn't rush to her. Let me tell you about it was no easy task with how heavy she was. At least in my mind I can't be frowned upon.

After the two seconds a blue translucent arrow appeared and shot the tree. Upon impact it shook it and some wooden chips went flying.

When I came closer, I saw the tree pierced right through with the arrow gone with the lack of mana to support it.

" Good job, little Charlotte." I said and gave her a high five.

" Now I can help protect you in dungeon. So, you have to take me."

" Okay I'll take you."

" You look like a proud father now."

" Yeah, and what'll that make you?"

We stared at each other.

" Don't say anything I don't want to hear it."

" Okay I won't. But you really do and you'll be giving her a piggyback ride basically everywhere. So why not say to people that she's your child. You know it's a lot better than having to explain her being your slave. Just sayin."

" Okay. Charlotte, you heard her do you mind if I'll be acting as your father?"

" No, papa. I don't mind." I rustled her hair as she looked at me with half closed eyes and was annoyed at me ruining her hair.

" Can you stop, papa?"

" Of course, sweetheart." I said and brushed her hair into place.

" Didn't you settle into your role too much. One might say that you're not even acting anymore."

" Of course, I am acting."

" So, you don't like me?" I hugged her and held her face against mine with one hand.

" It's not that. It's just a bit too fast for me becoming a father." I gave her a kiss on the forehead.

" Don't worry, papa. I'll help you in becoming the best dad."

" I'm sure of that. So, what should I do to become the best." I smiled at her and she did too.

" You need to buy me some candy when we get outside." I'll buy her some, but not too much so her teeth don't rot.

" Anything else?"

" You need to be good to mommy?" When I heard that I had a bad feeling all over my body.

" Who's that, sweetie?" Said Stella as she had her helmet off and a sweet smile on her face.

She must have planned this all from the start. This must be some sort of sick fantasy of hers. Maybe she even likes being my slave.

" Of course it's you, mommy."

If this continues, I think I'll go insane.

" Why does she have to be a mom? We can go find another. Right Charlotte?"

" No mommy is a mommy." She held my head in place as she stared at me.

" Okay, can we rather kill some monsters while we're in a dungeon?"

We travelled through the biome and saw only goblins. The wolves were nowhere to be found, but it was better this way as goblins relied more on numbers than individual strength. So each time Stella lured some over while we killed them off.

We also ambushed some small parties killing them in the blink of an eye thanks to Charlotte.

She was good all the way and didn't make any rash moves out of nervousness. It was a bit too hard at first for her to aim her targets when I was moving, but she soon got the hang of it and managed to get some hits in.

In the end Charlotte even got a lucky shot and killed two goblins with one arrow. She was cheeky because if that and requested if she could sleep in my bed with me. To that I said yes as unfortunately there're no bigger rooms in the tavern. Besides it's money efficient.

The kill got her one skill visible.

[ Remanent hit ]

When we were just traveling, I taught her meditation. It's weird that system doesn't take it as a skill, but it helps people recover mana faster.

When we get out of the Dungeon it wasn't late in the day. It was just some minutes after the midday so we went and had lunch after exchanging our materials.

Next thing I did was I bought a wand for Charlotte to use. It cost me a liver or two. In all seriousness it cost me my remaining gold coin. But this wand should be with her for a long time to come.

[ Wand of Calmness ]

-Quality: uncommon

-damage: +8

-trait: mana pool- 50+ MP

The delusional shopkeeper was the one who sold it to me. He was once again babbling something about fate and stuff, but I had no time for his bullshit. So, I left the required money on the counter and left as he was in his own world.

Charlotte was very happy with this gift from me and so she said she'll be walking by herself. And yes, I was giving her a piggyback everywhere we went. And no, I'm not spoiling her. Maybe a little.
