Yay! This is what he had been looking forward to. Not having a safe place on the current floor, he quickly finished gathering what kills he could in the surrounding area, then headed back for the temporary burrow on the fifth floor. As soon as they were both safely tucked away, he accepted the evolution.

Interesting. A [WALDRASSLINGE] sounded like a rabbit tank. Not really his style, but cool nonetheless. Maybe one of his siblings would pick it. His choice was pretty straight forward.

Raising 1 rank allows you to increase your proficiency by 10% in any chosen affinity
You have raised your title by 1 rank. You have gained 10% proficiency to increase in any chosen affinity.
You may bypass this limit by sacrificing a skill, skill point or attribute point.
1 point will increase proficiency in one affinity by 10%
Note that all beings have natural affinities. This means that a being will be able to more easily channel and control the magic of that affinity. Horned Monster Rabbits natural affinities are [LIGHTNING] and [LIGHT].
Select magic affinity from the following base and secondary affinities:
He decided to sacrifice all thirty-eight skill points. That gave him a total of three hundred and ninety percent proficiency to distribute. Settling on sticking with the affinities he already had, he brought [SPACE] and [GRAVITY] up to one hundred percent. Then after a moment of consideration he did the same to [LIGHT] and [DARK]. [NATURE] also improved by thirty percent. Finally, he increased [MENTAL] and [NULL] by twenty percent.

With that, his status changed once again, accompanied by a whole new rush of power. That never got old. What did change was that he had felt his form shifting during the evolution. His legs felt longer, and his body lither. He needed to go have a look at his reflection in one of the ponds. After waking up he noticed that [ULA] had also evolved. That actually made sense as she had been a level ahead of him when they started the sixth floor.
Monster – [SOVEREIGN’S KELPIE STEWARD] – [LEVEL 40]
Huh. He was pretty sure she had enough [INTELLIGENCE] to pick that one herself. Awww, she wanted to stick around for a long while. That was nice. Before leaving the burrow, he put five of his spare points into [VITALITY], one in [CHARISMA], and the rest into [PERCEPTION]. That evened things out, sort of.
Concealing both of them from sight they went up to the edge of the [ANZU]’s lake. What he saw was startling. He had tripled in height, now three foot tall. Despite his features mostly staying the same, his body now more closely resembled that of a deer. He still had a rabbit head but it was slightly narrower and more refined. He still had white fur and paws, but his legs were much longer. The thing that he found the strangest though, apart from now having an additional pale blue unicorn horn on his head, was his tail. It was longer and fluffier than even a deer’s would be. It reminded him of a fox tail, but not quite. Well, that was enlightening. Time to move on again. The fiftieth level wouldn’t get itself.
The two explored the entire sixth floor together before entering the tunnel to the seventh. There had been eight ponds this time but they were small and hidden away in coves. He’d reached [LEVEL 43] by the time they were finished with the sixth floor and dumped all his points evenly into [INTELLIGENCE] and [WISDOM], with one point to [VITALITY]. [ROGER] was now convinced it hadn’t been enough. Another pitch-black floor. Just great. Yes, his [PANOPTIC VISION] skill was levelling a lot so he could now see a few metres in front of him, but he didn’t like not knowing what was coming. Wait a minute.

[INFRARED THERMAL VISION] – 10 Skill Points
Why was a skill like this so cheap? He already had his suspicions, but he looked at the description anyway.
[INFRARED THERMAL VISION]
This skill allows the detection of heat in cool areas.
Note: As a lesser sight skill that can be upgraded is possessed by the user, the cost has decreased.
Awesome! He bought it as soon as he’d finished reading.
Skill: [PANOPTIC VISION] compatible with Skill: [INFRARED THERMAL VISION]
Skill: [PANOPTIC VISION] combined with Skill: [INFRARED THERMAL VISION]
Skill: [PANOPTIC VISION] and Skill: [INFRARED THERMAL VISION] upgraded to Skill: [ENHANCED PANOPTIC VISION].
Honestly, why hadn’t he thought of this earlier? [ULA] still wasn’t talkative, but she understood well enough. He made the suggestion to her as soon as he made the discovery. She obliged and also bought the skill. The skill activated so he could see, and his blood ran cold. The rocks around them were monsters. Lots and lots of still monsters. He hadn’t bothered to identify the terrain, so he hadn’t realised they were there. His companion also stopped in fright. Her silent steps kept her from making any notable changes though. The rocks continued to stay still, so he identified them as well as the things that he thought were on the roof, but were actually just floating in the air.
Monster – [DARKMANTLE] – [LEVEL 41]
Monster – [ROPER] – [LEVEL 43]
Monster – [ABOLETH] – [LEVEL 45]
These things were freaky scary, which made him even more glad that they had very little defence as the pair focused on attacks. [WIND BLADE] easily cut through the enemies. Even though the atmosphere was spooky, the floor reminded him of how straight forward slaying the bird monsters on the fifth floor had been. One thing did strike him as weird though. Well, weirder than usual. The three key monsters he had found were staying well away from the easily found brightly glowing lakes. They were very big lakes. They could almost be called small seas. What the heck was in the water that the other key monsters would stay away? It didn’t take all that long to find out. An [ABOLETH] that seemed to be of the moronic variety floated merrily over one of the seas. An enormous tentacle with suckers all along it reached up and snatched the poor monster from flight.
Monster – [LESSER KRAKEN] – [LEVEL 43]
Shit! That was… He couldn’t even describe it. All he’d seen was a rough outline with his normal vision. Most of what he had been able to spot was due to his new thermal vision. Had he made a mistake? He hadn’t tested these monsters. He’d been so spooked by how they looked. So, even though they hadn’t attacked first, just knowing he’d been surrounded by potential enemies after the fact, had scared the living daylights out of him. Now that he thought about it the [ABOLETH]s seemed quite tame. And only a couple of the more territorial [DARKMANTLE]s and [ROPER]s had tried to scare him off with their tentacles.
This kraken thing was the real predator of this domain. The size of just one appendage had sent shivers down his spine. Thirty feet. The tentacle he had seen had reached thirty feet into the air. He didn’t even know if that was the full tentacle. The thermal part of his sight skill must have still been too low level to see beneath the water. Not that he was even sure he wanted to after that display of power.
