With the levels they had all gained it was time to head back home to evolve, so they did just that. Some moronic monsters tried to make a snack of the smaller ones, but those were quickly taken care of. Finally, they made it back to their own hole in the burrow. All his siblings laid down and handed over their evolutions pretty much straight away.
*DING*
9 [INFANT HORNED RABBIT]s have passed control of their [EVOLUTION]s to you.
Do you accept?
[Y/N]
He selected yes.
[EVOLUTION AVAILABLE]
Would you like the 9 entities to evolve?
[Y/N]
Note that further levels can not be attained until they have evolved.
That’s a yes.
Select your evolutions.
The 5 male entities include the following options:
[JUVENILE HORNED RABBIT]
[JUVENILE HORNED RABBIT OUJISAMA] – Title raised to [BARONET]
The 4 female entities include the following options:
[JUVENILE HORNED RABBIT]
[JUVENILE HORNED RABBIT OHIMESAMA] – Title raised to [BARONETESS]
The second ones sure were interesting, and it was only his [WHIMS OF THE WORLD] ability that helped him understand what they meant. The evolutions were basically calling his siblings royalty. The connection to his own race was clear. Not needing much time to decide, he picked the options granting titles.
[EVOLUTION IN PROCESS]
5 entities are evolving from [INFANT HORNED RABBIT] to [JUVENILE HORNED RABBIT OUJISAMA]
4 entities are evolving from [INFANT HORNED RABBIT] to [JUVENILE HORNED RABBIT OHIMESAMA]
[COMPLETE]
They have been raised to TITLE: [BARONET]/[BARONETESS]
Raising 1 rank allows you to increase your proficiency by 10% in any chosen affinity
They have each raised their titles by 6 ranks. They have each gained 60% proficiency to increase in any chosen affinity.
You may bypass this limit by sacrificing a skill, skill point or attribute point.
1 point will increase proficiency in one affinity by 10%
Note that all beings have natural affinities. This means that a being will be able to more easily channel and control the magic of that affinity. Horned Monster Rabbits natural affinities are [LIGHTNING] and [LIGHT].
This text was taken from Royal Road. Help the author by reading the original version there.
Select magic affinity from the following base affinities:
[FIRE]
[WATER]
[AIR]
[EARTH]
[LIGHTNING]
[LIGHT]
[DARK]
[LIFE]
[DEATH]
[UNDEATH]
[POISON]
[TRANSMUTATION]
[NATURE]
[SOUND]
[MYSTIC]
[BEASTIAL]
[MENTAL]
[NULL]
[SPACE]
[GRAVITY]
[TIME]
[ORDER]
[CHAOS]
So how much proficiency did he have? The original one hundred percent, sixty percent from the title, and fifty percent from the unspent attribute points. He decided to leave the skill points. His siblings would need them later. Doing some basic calculations, he would give them all seventy percent proficiency in [LIGHTNING] and [LIGHT]. That meant he had seventy percent left which he decided to invest in a single element for each. His brothers’ affinities would be [AIR], [POISON], [TRANSMUTATION], [SOUND] and [GRAVITY]. His sisters’ affinities would be [WATER], [LIFE], [NATURE] and [MYSTIC]. When making the selections, he just went by ear, thinking which affinity would best suit each brother or sister. He hoped he had chosen well. A moment later the confirmation of affinities notification came through.
Would you like to confirm your selection?
[Y/N]
He confirmed the choices.
*DING*
[LEVEL UP] 9 entities have reached [LEVEL 7].
8 Attribute points have been distributed according to the natural inclinations of their race.
You have 7 Skill points and 2 Attribute points to distribute manually per entity.
This was an easy one. Both attribute points went into [INTELLIGENCE]. Next, he needed to look at whether he could select skills for them. He could. It turned out that [INFANT HORNED RABBIT]s were born with innate skills. He probably didn’t get them because of the special skills he had at birth. Opening the skill screen for one of his brothers, he looked it over.
Unspent Skill Points: 7
Innate Skills:
[CLEANSE]
[DASH]
[DIG]
[ENHANCED HEARING]
[INSTINCT]
[NIGHT VISION]
[SIGHT]
Ohhh, now that made sense. He had been wondering about that. If [HORNED RABBIT]s didn’t normally have enough [INTELLIGENCE] to access their own screens, then why did they have the [CLEANSE] skill. Well, that was simple really. It was an innate skill that they were born with. Now, to protect his family better he wanted to give them a skill he had noticed [REYNARD] had. Combined with one of his own skills, it would be invaluable in keeping them alive whenever he wasn’t present.
Available Skills:
[DOUBLE JUMP] – 2 Points
…
[CLOAK] – 3 Points
…
[STEALTH] – 4 Points
With his mind already made up, he purchased both [CLOAK] and [STEALTH] for all his siblings. And as they had already woken from the slumber of evolving, they began practicing immediately. Should he have thought this through more? Half of his siblings had gone missing. “Sorry Mother I’ll make this up to you” he silently thought to himself.
His mother didn’t appear to be all that worried as she herself began to playfully chase around her children. The bunnies that were invisible became visible again and the rest began to activate their skills instead. With a sigh and a roll of his eyes the adolescent rabbit jumped into the fray and join in on the fun. After collapsing once again in a pile, they all fell asleep once more. As the white furred rabbit that had dealt out the skills dozed off, he thought of what came next. “I guess I’ll head down and see what’s on the next floor. I should make sure my siblings can take care of themselves first though, then I’ll leave them in [REYNARD] and Mother’s care. What level is Mother anyway?”
Turning his head slightly he identified his mother.
Monster – [ADOLESCENT HORNED RABBIT MATRON] – [LEVEL 19]
Hmmm. Yes, his mother should be able to take care of them just fine. One final hunt in the morning that he would supervise, then he would go. He could maybe go the other way and check out what was outside, but he wanted to be more powerful first. Both the exits were unknowns, but he sort of knew what he was getting into if he went downwards. If he went up and outside, he had no clue what awaited him. It was better to be prepared.
