Yù Quán had done it. He opened the last meridian in just a few days. He had officially broken through to the Dantian Solidifcation Stage.
“How much time is wasted trying to cultivate with just one pair of eyes? I should’ve taken the eyes of those guys long ago!”
Once Yù Quán passes this stage, it will be time for him to attend the academy. While he would be embarrassed walking around with a kid in a higher realm than him, Yù Quán thought having a Body Tempering realm bodyguard couldn’t hurt. Rèn Chāngmíng seemed distracted by his breakthrough, but luckily, he seemed to be in a state where he could take a break.
“Congratulations on your breakthrough, Senior Brother.”
Rèn Chāngmíng was excited. Yù Quán had drastically increased his cultivation speed after going out on that trip. He thought he must have figured out the cultivation art and gotten the hang of it. Now, Yù Quán’s heavenly talent was beginning to peer through. What should have taken someone a month or so took Yù Quán a few days. This was a heavenly talent. Yù Quán laughed, “It’s nothing, Junior Brother! Only a step further on a long path. I can only get stronger from here!”
Yù Quán’s high and mighty act was interrupted by a system notification.

Yù Quán could hardly maintain his composure. He didn’t expect a system update so soon and for such a small milestone. While the system was updated, Yù Quán asked for some information on using the Dead Dantian Pills before letting him return to his cultivation. Yù Quán was reading into his cultivation art before he received another system notification.

Yù Quán also saw that he could level up the eyes now. He decided to try it; he didn’t think they could be on the same level as his [Star Gazing Eyes].
“The aggression eyes seem more valuable than the avarice eyes right now, so let’s level them up.”
Yù Quán clicked the level button, but it didn’t immediately level up. Instead, he saw a few changes.

Yù Quán clicked the level-up button next to the boar eyes a few more times and noticed that the number of points that would be used increased every certain amount of levels. After two levels, it costs two points per level. He settled for using six points to get the eyes to level 4 and hit confirm. Suddenly, Yù Quán felt the eyes change. It wasn’t a reshaping or mutation, but they seemed to improve. Yet, the quality remained the same. He would only be able to tell after some testing.
“Junior Brother!”
Rèn Chāngmíng was awoken from his cultivation. “Yes, Senior Brother?”
“Have you heard of a Three-Finned Boar?”
Rèn Chāngmíng looked a bit surprised. Wasn’t this the most basic beast found in all forest regions? How could Yù Quán not know?
“Senior Brother, are you testing me? Of course, I know the Three-Finned Boar. Shouldn’t everyone? You even brought one home the other day.”
Yù Quán waved his hand as if shooing Rèn Chāngmíng’s words.
“No, no, your Senior Brother is just inexperienced. Please tell me what you know.”
Rèn Chāngmíng found this odd but decided not to pursue the matter. It seemed Yù Quán didn’t want to speak of it. He took a moment to gather his thoughts and began describing the Three-Finned Boar.
“I’ll skip their appearance since you’ve already crossed one. Three-Finned Boars are common, low-level beasts that live in the forest regions of Murim. They’re called Three-Finned Boars because of the lines of fur they have going down their back, resembling fins. They mainly attack by charging with their tusks, and their strength never goes above the 1st Stage Low Rank. They usually live in packs. The leader is always a boar born with five lives of fur. These can’t be considered a different species but cannot be regarded as the same as other Three-Finned Boar. They are similar to a royal bloodline and are born to rule the pack. These are fittingly called Five-Finned Boar.”
The information seemed to check out to Yù Quán. He didn’t know much since he had only encountered one, but it matched what he did know.
“1st Stage Low Rank?”
Rèn Chāngmíng couldn’t believe Yù Quán didn’t even know this. What else did he not know?
“Monster beasts are animals that instinctively cultivate. They are innately stronger than we are as the heavens bless them. But the heavens give and take; they are also cursed to have their cultivation limited by their bloodline. The weakest monster beasts are 1st Stage Low-Rank beasts, equivalent to our 1st through 3rd Stages of the Qi Focusing Realm.”
Yù Quán was surprised. “Really? So strong?”
Rèn Chāngmíng nodded. “Yes, in one stage, they gain strength equal to our three stages of cultivation. But, after that, it becomes about one-to-one. It’s basically a head start, then they cultivate at our pace.”
Yù Quán thought for a moment. Getting beast eyes would be a bit harder than he thought in the short term. But that also meant they would be strong against many cultivators. While thinking, Yù Quán remembered something that made him frown.
“Rèn Chāngmíng, since I was able to beat the boar easily, that means it was one of the weaker ones, right?”
Rèn Chāngmíng looked at what was left of the boar; they had been roasting it over a makeshift fire for meals. While they were cultivators, Yù Quán wasn’t far enough to go without eating, and Rèn Chāngmíng just enjoyed eating. He wasn’t entirely used to being a stronger cultivator yet.
“Mhm, the weakest, actually. That seems to be an infant.”
Yù Quán went from frowning to widened eyes. “...And you said they lived in packs?”
Rèn Chāngmíng was about to confirm, then realized what Yù Quán was thinking. Before they could react, a booming noise came from the cave entrance.
