Chapter 151: Confidential Matters?

Chapter 151: Confidential Matters?

"Hermione is already good enough," Lin Yue said without hesitation. Compared to Fudge, even at this stage, Hermione scores higher than him in terms of decisiveness, understanding of the bigger picture, and grasp of public sentiment.

Most importantly, her support base is definitely rated much higher than Fudge and all his potential competitors and successors. Based on this alone, there is no one in the British wizarding community who could compete with Hermione after Fudge steps down.

The black car finally came to a steady stop beneath the Burrow. The female driver got out first, quickly scanning the surroundings and checking from above to ensure everything was fine before walking over to open the back door for Lin Yue and Hermione.

"Thank you," Lin Yue said as she and Hermione stepped out of the black car. Hermione also politely nodded at the female driver.

The driver gave a slight nod in response and then quickly returned to the driver's seat, driving away swiftly without saying a word.

"She’s so quiet," Hermione remarked, not thinking much of it, and directly took Lin Yue's hand as they walked up the stairs to the entrance of the Burrow.

"Knock, knock, knock..."

Three gentle knocks sounded at the door, and Lin Yue and Hermione stood politely at the entrance waiting.

In just a few minutes, the door of the Burrow slowly opened, revealing Mrs. Weasley’s kind face in front of the two girls.

"Lin Yue, Hermione, welcome!"

As she spoke, she embraced both girls, kissing them on the forehead.

"Thank you, Mrs. Weasley," Lin Yue and Hermione said together politely.

"Such good manners! And you both have grown quite a bit, just like Ron and the others; you’re all at that age where you’re growing taller."

"Come in!"

Mrs. Weasley cheerfully ushered Lin Yue and Hermione into the house. After the two changed into slippers, they walked into the living room.

In the living room, Harry, Ron, the twins, Ginny, and Sirius were all present. When they saw the two girls enter, they all stood up and greeted them warmly.

Sirius even bent deeply towards Lin Yue, saying, "Thank you. If it weren't for you, I might still be on the run right now."

Taken aback by Sirius's bow, Lin Yue waved her hand, "No need to be polite. It's my duty to clear the name of the innocent."

"That's perfectly normal, no need to thank me," Sirius straightened up, smiling and shaking his head. "I certainly should thank you."

He had heard some things about Lin Yue from Harry, such as the fact that this girl had not developed many emotions of her own. However, Harry had not told him anything about why this girl needed to cultivate emotions or why she lacked innate feelings. Therefore, Sirius couldn't possibly ask about it.

Clearly, this was not something everyone could know, was it?

But that didn't stop him from repaying Lin Yue and Hermione. In addition to the Quidditch World Cup tickets, he had also arranged for a set of jewelry for each girl through a contact in a jewelry store in the magical community of France, which he planned to give them this Christmas.

"Mrs. Weasley, this is a gift from my mother for you, just some cookies," Hermione said with a smile as she handed the basket in her hands to Mrs. Weasley. Mrs. Weasley took it and affectionately ruffled Hermione's fluffy hair.

"Mrs. Granger is too kind. You two should sit down and have a good chat with Harry and the others while I go make lunch," Mrs. Weasley said before heading to the kitchen. Upon hearing the words "make lunch," Lin Yue instinctively wanted to follow, "I'll help, Mrs. Weasley."

"Of course not, good girl," Mrs. Weasley turned back with a smile and gently pushed her back onto the sofa. "With me around, the children don't need to go into the kitchen to cook; just sit here and wait patiently."

"Of course, once I finish lunch, you can help carry things," she added before quickly heading back to the kitchen, where her onion soup was still cooking.

"How's your holiday homework coming along, you two?"

As soon as Lin Yue and Hermione sat down, Hermione looked over at Harry and Ron.

The two boys' bodies stiffened for a moment, and then Harry confidently replied first, "I’m almost done; I can basically finish it in a day."

"That's good," Hermione nodded in satisfaction, squinting at the silent Ron beside her. "What about you, Ron? You better not tell me you have a lot left to do."

"Ron has been playing Quidditch with Fred and George all summer; he hasn’t done much homework."

Seeing that Ron wasn’t answering, Ginny quickly chimed in to expose her brother.

"Ginny!" Ron called softly, giving her a weak glare that lacked any real intimidation. "I’m your brother!"

"Senior Granger is doing this for your own good." Ginny stuck out her tongue, siding with Hermione over her own brother.

With a helpless sigh, Hermione shot Ron a glare. "You better finish it after watching the Quidditch World Cup final and start catching up on your homework. Lin Yue, Harry, and I are definitely not going to let you copy ours."

After saying that, she gave Harry a meaningful look, and Harry immediately nodded in agreement. In this situation... he felt he couldn’t help his brother.

As for Lin Yue, she didn’t need Hermione to look at her; she had already nodded in agreement the moment Hermione spoke.

With a big sigh, Ron tried to steer the conversation away from his homework. "Why don’t you let Ginny show you around the room? You two might have to share a room with her."

Lin Yue turned to look at Ginny, the little girl she had once saved, who smiled shyly at her.

Returning a gentle smile, Lin Yue mechanically stood up and followed Hermione and Ginny upstairs.

"Ron is just trying to change the subject," Ginny said as she walked back to Hermione.

"I know."

Hermione chuckled and nodded. After three years of friendship, how could she not understand her two close friends?

"My room isn't very big, so I hope you won't mind it being a bit cramped if you stay with me," Ginny said, a slight blush on her face, feeling a bit shy.

"Of course not."

"How could we, Ginny? We're both really happy to be able to stay with you," Lin Yue and Hermione said in unison, and the blush on Ginny's face faded a little.

As Ginny opened the door to her room, Lin Yue was greeted by a room filled with a youthful vibe. Plush toys, Quidditch team stickers, and various handmade crafts decorated the space. It was clear that Ginny had done a great job decorating her room within her means, and the Weasley parents had also provided her with necessary support.

"My room only has this one bed," Ginny said as she sat on her bed and gently patted it. "So tonight, we might have to sleep a bit snugly."

Seeing Ginny's slightly embarrassed expression, Lin Yue blinked and pointed a finger at Ginny's bed. A flash of magical light passed by, and the surface of the bed appeared unchanged. However, Ginny, sitting on the bed, could clearly "see" that her bed had doubled in size, comfortably accommodating all three of them and allowing them to sleep comfortably.

"Wow, that's amazing!" She turned her head, her eyes sparkling as she looked at Lin Yue.

"Is that a special extension charm?" Hermione raised an eyebrow and looked at Lin Yue.

"Yes," Lin Yue nodded in affirmation.

"That's a high-level spell," Ginny exclaimed, her admiration for Lin Yue intensifying.

"As long as you understand the principles, it's not that difficult."

Lin Yue shrugged with an indifferent expression. As long as one can grasp the principles and thoroughly understand the spells, then any magic can be said to be easy. Except for the Patronus Charm...

“Ladies and gentlemen, lunch is ready!”

Mrs. Weasley’s voice called from downstairs. The three girls responded loudly and then quickly ran down the stairs.

“Molly, your cooking is really amazing.”

Sirius smiled and praised Mrs. Weasley while holding a plate of stew. “Arthur is really lucky.”

Mrs. Weasley chuckled happily and waved her hand at him, “Don’t flatter me in front of the kids, just take the food out.”

Everyone enjoyed the lunch, and Mrs. Weasley’s cooking was so good that Lin Yue couldn’t help but slow down her eating pace to savor the flavors of the food even more.

When Mr. Weasley returned in the evening, they had an even more sumptuous dinner than lunch. Even Percy, who had been holed up in his room, came out to eat, unlike at noon when he had stayed in his room.

Charlie and Bill, who had just rushed home, exchanged glances, both intending to tease their younger brother.

“Percy, I heard you’ve been investigating the bottoms of cauldrons lately. How’s that going?”

Charlie rested his chin on his hand, looking at Percy with a cheerful expression, appearing to be a caring older brother.

“Not too well,” Percy’s face was serious. “Many cauldron bottoms on the market are too thin and are considered substandard products.”

“However, things have improved a bit recently; the products being produced now are all up to standard, it’s just that there were too many substandard products produced before.”

Lin Yue, who was enjoying her ice cream, paused for a moment upon hearing this, then continued eating as if nothing had happened.

She was aware of the cauldron issue; the cauldron manufacturing business had been monopolized by pure-blood families. Because they demanded too high a cut, the wizards producing cauldrons had to lower the quality to ensure they could still make a profit.

Although she couldn’t agree with this behavior, Lin Yue also couldn’t say she completely didn’t understand it. After all, everyone needs to make a living, and the pure-blood families had indeed drained too much from the wizarding world.

But what’s the use of the Ministry of Magic, which is in cahoots with the pure-blood families, conducting these investigations? Can they even manage it? Are they just deceiving themselves and their own people?

With a blank expression, Lin Yue took another bite of ice cream, and soon she heard Percy’s deliberately raised voice.

“We’ve been really busy lately, preparing for a big event that’s about to happen at Hogwarts. It’s a confidential matter, you know, Dad.”

The smooth, cold ice cream slid down her throat, and Lin Yue’s brain quickly processed what Percy meant by the so-called confidential matter.

It should be the upcoming revival of the Triwizard Tournament at Hogwarts. The Triwizard Tournament involves introducing foreign dragons and many other magical creatures.

Therefore, it inevitably involves many merchants, and as the “superior” of these merchants, Lin Yue was naturally fully aware of this matter.

The reason this matter is still confidential is partly to give the young wizards at Hogwarts a little surprise. Another reason is to prevent the young wizards from getting too anxious too early; after all, the previous Triwizard Tournaments had indeed resulted in deaths, and quite a few at that.

“I really can’t stand it,” Ron grumbled as he poked at the ice cream in his bowl, as if it were Percy’s head. “He’s been talking about that confidential matter since this summer, but he’s been tight-lipped about what it actually is.”

“I think he just wants us to keep trying to ask him for the answer.”

Ron leaned over and whispered to Harry, who couldn't help but chuckle a bit. Alright, he felt the same way; Percy must have meant this.

Hermione, sitting next to Lin Yue, clearly also had some interest in this secret matter, especially since it was about to happen at Hogwarts. However, she seemed to know exactly who to ask about it.

"Lin Yue, do you know what this secret matter is? What’s going to happen at Hogwarts?"

Hermione asked, and Lin Yue answered immediately without any hesitation, her voice still flat and unchanging, like a machine giving an automatic response.

"It’s the Triwizard Tournament, which is about to be reinstated at Hogwarts."

"What?!"

Hermione's eyes widened in surprise. Apart from her, the others around them hadn’t heard Lin Yue’s quiet response. She lowered her voice again, "The Triwizard Tournament? How can it be reinstated? People could die in that."

Lin Yue turned to look at Hermione, her expression still calm and unruffled. "Headmaster Dumbledore and the other two headmasters, along with the Ministry of Magic, have worked hard to ensure the safety of the champions in this tournament."

After mechanically stating this, Lin Yue shrugged slightly, showing a bit more liveliness. "That’s what they say to the public."

"And based on the magical creatures they’ve imported, aside from a few rare ones, the other magical creatures used aren’t really that dangerous."

After mentally sorting through the dangers posed by creatures like Sphinxes and Dragons, Lin Yue ultimately concluded that the Triwizard Tournament requires adult wizards to participate. For adult wizards, as long as there’s no direct confrontation, with some clever strategies, those magical creatures can be dealt with.

That’s why Lin Yue made the assessment that the danger isn’t that great.

"Alright."

Since Lin Yue said so, Hermione nodded in agreement. After all, with Headmaster Dumbledore around, it should be fine for the champions participating in the tournament, right?
