In her mind, Lin Yue quickly recalled the registered Animagi of this century in the Ministry of Magic. None of them had the Animagus form of a large black dog, which meant it was not a registered Animagus.
Lin Yue silently withdrew her gaze; the creature following them was either an ordinary large black dog that had been with them for some reason, or an unregistered illegal Animagus, with unknown motives for following them.
Regardless of which it was, it had not yet harmed the three of them, and since Harry and Hermione had not noticed it, there was no need for her to mention it and affect them.
Making a quick decision in her mind, Lin Yue followed Hermione and Harry into the Flourish and Blotts. As soon as she entered the shop, she caught a glimpse of the large black dog that had been trailing them running away.
Retracting her gaze, Lin Yue acted as if she hadn’t noticed anything and followed Harry and Hermione to the counter.
“Hello, we need…”
Hermione took out her book list and was just about to tell the clerk at the Leaky Cauldron what books she needed when he interrupted her with a smile, "Hello, welcome to the Leaky Cauldron. To improve efficiency, this year we have directly introduced the book list from Hogwarts."
"May I ask what year you are in?"
"Um, third year," Hermione smiled and put away her book list.
"Third year, what classes have you chosen?"
Hermione told the clerk her choices, and he nodded to indicate he understood. He then turned to Lin Yue.
"And this young lady?"
Lin Yue looked up at the clerk and mechanically said, "I'm also in third year, and I have the same classes as her."
"Alright."
The clerk turned around and brought two large stacks of books, placing them in front of Hermione and Lin Yue.
Lin Yue quickly scanned the pile of books in front of her and within seconds confirmed that the books were correct, but one was missing.
"Everything is fine, it's just that we're missing one book, 'The Monster Book of Monsters.'"
After turning to say something to Hermione, Lin Yue saw the shop assistant put on thick dragon hide gloves and reach for a cane to extend towards a large cage. Inside the cage were hundreds of thick books that were continuously making strange noises, with sharp teeth growing on the covers.
"This is the monster book of monsters?"
Hermione swallowed hard. Although she loved books, wasn't this one a bit...? She hoped she wouldn't lose her fingers.
"Yes," Harry confirmed with a complex expression, "Hagrid gave me one of these books for my birthday during the holidays."
"I was initially puzzled as to why Hagrid would give me such a book, until I saw it on the Hogwarts book list."
Hagrid sent Harry a book that would be used for the Care of Magical Creatures class. The professor who originally taught this class, Professor Kettleburn, was not in good health.
Listening to Harry's account, several fragmented pieces of information suddenly connected in Lin Yue's mind.
Considering these three points, along with the fact that Hagrid, as the Keeper of Keys and Grounds, was very familiar with magical creatures, the most likely explanation is that Professor Kettleburn retired, and Hagrid took over as the professor for the Care of Magical Creatures class. He chose the Monster Book of Monsters as the textbook for this course.
"Maybe he found out somewhere that this book would be used this year, so he gave it to you," Hermione speculated as she watched the clerk struggle to retrieve the book.
"I think so too," Harry nodded.
Seeing the clerk attempt to grab the book multiple times without success, and even almost getting bitten by one of the books that jumped out of the protective gloves and nearly bit his arm, they both felt a mix of concern and amusement.
Lin Yue stepped forward politely and asked, "Excuse me, do you need help?"
"Oh, what?" The staff member was taken aback for a moment, turning to look at Lin Yue, somewhat at a loss.
"No, no, it's fine. I mean, um, this book is quite dangerous, so I'll just tie it up and then hand it over to you."
The staff member smiled gently and turned back to continue struggling with the books.
Seeing that the staff member had refused her offer, Lin Yue nodded and stepped back to her original position, waiting until five minutes later when the staff member, with two books clamped under his arm, slammed the cage door shut with great effort.
Unauthorized content usage: if you discover this narrative on Amazon, report the violation.
Even though the staff member was holding the books with his arm, it did not affect the monster books' performance at all. They trembled wildly, and the staff member's arm even began to shake.
He struggled to press the two books down onto the table, and immediately another staff member came forward to tie them up.
As if sensing their fate, the two monster books began to struggle violently at the same time.
The staff member pressing them down widened his eyes in terror; his strength had already been nearly exhausted.
He could no longer hold them down, "Get back!"
He shouted at Lin Yue and the others in front of him, but unfortunately, he was too late. The two monster books had already broken free from his restraint and charged out directly.
Screaming, they flapped their pages, sharp teeth aimed straight at Hermione and Harry.
The two children didn't have time to react and stood frozen in place.
Fortunately, Lin Yue, who was next to Hermione, was just as quick as the monster books.
"Roar!"
A deep roar erupted, and Hermione, Harry, and the staff behind the counter didn't even have time to see clearly.
The two monster books were firmly pinned under the feet of a two-meter-tall Velociraptor.
With a firm grip on the two monster books, Lin Yue's longest claw quickly snapped down and, upon reaching the covers of the monster books, suddenly eased its force, merely resting lightly on top without actually damaging the books.
Even though they weren't truly damaged, the force from Lin Yue and the claw resting on them made the two monster books understand their current situation.
They immediately stopped struggling and quieted down.
Exhaling a breath, Lin Yue slowly turned her head to look at the monster books still screeching in the cage.
"Roar!!!"
Leaning in for an angry roar, everyone in the Flourish and Blotts Bookstore couldn't help but cover their ears.
The hundreds of monster books in the cage seemed to instantly lose their magic, falling one by one, motionless.
"Merlin's beard... that's an Animagus..." one of the staff members behind the counter murmured as he watched Lin Yue transform into a Velociraptor.
"Right." Another staff member swallowed hard, and just as the words left his mouth, Lin Yue transformed back in front of them, bent down to pick up the two monster books, and handed one to Hermione.
Looking at Lin Yue's appearance as a child, and thinking about the third-grade books she just asked him to take, the store clerk couldn't help but make a pained expression. "You haven't even reached third grade, and you've already mastered Animagus?"
"Merlin, that's so unfair! A genius is just that amazing, and I only deserve to get a P in Transfiguration every year?" The clerk behind him couldn't help but twitch his mouth; wow, getting a P every year, that must mean their Transfiguration skills were really poor.
"Professor McGonagall must think highly of you." He stepped forward and patted the clerk on the shoulder, suggesting that helping students who struggle is a form of care, right?
Facing Lin Yue and the others, the two clerks sincerely apologized together. "Sorry, it was all due to our mistake that you almost got bitten by a monster book." After saying that, they continued to thank Lin Yue, "Thank you for stepping in to stop everything in time; otherwise, we would have been in trouble. You're really amazing!"
Lin Yue shook her head expressionlessly, "You're welcome, I just did what I was supposed to do."
Hermione and Harry also came back to their senses and smiled, indicating that it was no problem. After paying for the books, Lin Yue and Hermione carried the books and walked out of Flourish and Blotts with Harry and the others.
"You looked really cool when you transformed into an Animagus just now!" As soon as they stepped out of Flourish and Blotts, Hermione turned around and exclaimed to Lin Yue.
Lin Yue nodded calmly and said, "Thank you."
"That's really impressive," Harry remarked, looking at Lin Yue. "You've become an Animagus, and there are only less than ten in the whole of Britain."
Lin Yue blinked, her tone flat, "Based on probability assessments, there is a high likelihood of illegal Animagi who are not registered."
"Therefore, there should be more than ten Animagi in the whole of Britain."
"Well, you're impressive too," Hermione said with a cheerful smile, wrapping her other arm around Lin Yue's shoulder, "You can be proud of yourself."
"Mm," Lin Yue replied with a neutral expression, "I am proud of myself."
Now she could say that, or rather, she had reached a certain level of self-acceptance.
Hearing Lin Yue affirm herself; Hermione showed a look of relief and tightened her grip on Lin Yue's shoulder.
Harry instinctively shifted his gaze away from the two of them. He walked ahead without looking sideways, and the three of them arrived at a restaurant. Lin Yue slightly turned her head to glance at Hermione, who was sitting right next to her.
"Hermione, aren't you hot?"
It was summer vacation, and the weather was scorching, with the sun in the sky seemingly trying to bake people on the spot. How could Hermione be sitting so close to her and not feel hot?
"I'm not hot. Do you feel hot?"
As Hermione spoke, she took out her wand, ready to cast a cooling charm on Lin Yue immediately.
"No." Lin Yue shook her head.
"That's good." Hermione smiled and leaned directly against Lin Yue's shoulder.
Harry, sitting opposite the two, felt a sharp pain in his eyes. Where had he seen that pink glow? It was so blinding...
It wasn't until mealtime that Lin Yue and Hermione separated a bit. Lin Yue leisurely ate her lunch in front of her with a knife and fork.
Hermione was satisfied and withdrew her gaze after seeing that she was eating normally, then lowered her head to start on her own portion. It had become a habit for her to first observe Lin Yue's eating state before starting her own meal.
Harry, sitting across from them, was now eating the most vigorously among the three. As a growing boy, he was in a phase where he could eat a lot and got hungry quickly. After finishing their meal, they planned to have a big scoop of ice cream. Lin Yue carefully reviewed in her mind the food that she, Hermione, and Harry had just eaten. After confirming that there was nothing particularly hot, she felt reassured and did not stop Hermione and the others, picking up her spoon to start eating the ice cream in small bites.
By the time the three had finished their ice cream, it was almost time to meet up with Ron. Lin Yue stood up and wiped her mouth, while Hermione readjusted her arm. The three of them walked together towards the Leaky Cauldron, and upon returning, the Weasley family came into view.
"Harry, I'm really glad you're okay."
Mr. Weasley stepped forward to greet Harry, saying, "You have no idea, we were almost going crazy when we heard you left your aunt and uncle's house, and the Ministry of Magic was also anxious."
Harry awkwardly explained the reason and admitted that he was indeed a bit impulsive in his actions.
After hearing this, Mr. Weasley shook his head and said that Harry did nothing wrong; anyone else in a situation where their parents were insulted would also be unable to hold back.
Moreover, it was Harry.
Lin Yue politely greeted everyone in the Weasley family while reflecting on Mr. Weasley's instinctive remark from earlier.
The premise of the first half of his statement was that people only became anxious after learning that Harry had left his aunt and uncle's house.
This means that if Harry had not left his aunt and uncle's house, no one would have been anxious.
It is known that Harry's aunt and uncle are Muggles, and they are not wealthy Muggles. Considering that the only possible reasons for Harry being in danger are Voldemort or Death Eaters, they likely do not have the ability to provide any reliable protective measures for Harry.
Therefore, it can be inferred that there must be some additional protective measures in place that apply only to Harry's aunt and uncle's house, protecting Harry from harm while he is there.
From Harry's perspective, it is highly likely that he is unaware of this protective measure.
Continuing to analyze the second half of the statement, "We were almost going crazy, and the Ministry of Magic was also anxious."
The "we" undoubtedly includes Mr. Weasley himself, and the mention of the Ministry of Magic specifically indicates that Mr. Weasley included himself in that "we," but did not include himself in the Ministry of Magic.
However, Mr. Weasley is an employee of the Ministry of Magic.
Lin Yue looked up at Mr. Weasley, her mind racing with thoughts.
He included himself in that "we," but excluded the Ministry of Magic.
This proved that his recognition of that "we" was higher than his recognition of the Ministry of Magic.
Considering Mr. Weasley's social circle, there was a 90% chance that the members of that "we" were Professor Dumbledore and the professors at Hogwarts.
Thus, one could conclude that Mr. Weasley, Professor Dumbledore, the professors at Hogwarts, and an unknown number of others formed an unknown organization.
Furthermore, considering their level of concern for Harry, it was highly likely that this organization existed to oppose Voldemort.
After analyzing all the hidden information in this sentence, more than ten seconds had passed.
Everyone had just finished greeting each other, and the Weasley couple distributed money to each of their children at home, giving a few reminders before announcing free time.
They would meet again at the Leaky Cauldron in two hours.
Lin Yue, Hermione, Harry, and Ron entered Diagon Alley together once more.
As they entered Diagon Alley, Ron pulled out his pet rat Scabbers from his pocket.
