Chapter 138: Firebolt

The wisps of white smoke spiraled up from the cup that Hermione had given to Lin Yue, seemingly raising the surrounding temperature by a few degrees.

Looking at the image on the cup, Lin Yue felt her heart warm a little more.

It was a photo of her and Hermione taken outside the Louvre during their trip to France.

Hermione had her arm around Lin Yue's shoulder with one hand making a peace sign, her smile bright as sunshine.

Lin Yue stood beside Hermione with no expression on her face, but upon closer inspection, one could find a hint of calmness that had been soothed within her.

Yes, soothed; at that time, she had just been comforted by Hermione.

As she looked at the small line of text near the bottom of the cup that appeared with the image, Lin Yue reached out and gently touched it.

"To your promise, unwavering until death."

She whispered softly, and the smile at the corner of Lin Yue's mouth grew wider, while the corners of her eyes gradually became moist.

"Do you like it?"

A slightly hoarse voice came from behind her, and Lin Yue felt her neck being gently embraced.

Feeling the softness and sweet scent from behind, Lin Yue blinked and smiled, "Mm, I like it, thank you, Hermione."

"No need to be so polite with me."

Hermione, just getting out of bed, spoke with a slightly drowsy tone and gently kissed Lin Yue's cheek.

The moisture in Lin Yue's eyes gradually faded, replaced by a flush of warmth spreading across her cheeks.

Seeing the increasing redness on the face of the person in front of her, Hermione let out a satisfied chuckle, released her hand, and lightly returned to her bed to change clothes.

Lin Yue picked up her cup and took a gentle sip. Hmm, although it was just plain water, it felt no worse than the cola she had drunk before.

Carefully setting down the cup, Lin Yue continued to unwrap the other gifts.

Senior Cho Chang had given her a very beautiful Cheongsam, probably because she had seen Lin Yue's Boggart before. Lin Yue's mind quickly processed this as she deftly arranged the qipao, placing it on the bed without a single wrinkle.

Like Senior Cho Chang, Senior Marietta also gifted her a piece of clothing, a very beautiful princess dress.

Looking at the princess dress in her hands, Lin Yue tilted her head, and the first thought that popped into her mind was that she wasn't a princess and didn't have a princess's fate. Was it really appropriate to wear this dress?

But if she wore it, it should look good on her, right?

Lin Yue smiled as she placed the dress next to the Cheongsam that Senior Cho Chang had given her, as if they had agreed on it. The two seniors in front had gifted her a dress and a qipao.

Senior Penelope, on the other hand, had given her an exceptionally luxurious magical silk scarf. The moment Lin Yue saw the scarf, she immediately recalled the magic attached to it in her mind. It had a color-changing and pattern-transforming spell, as well as alchemy that could simply sense changes in the surroundings.

The creation of this magical silk scarf was not easy. According to the letter written by Senior Penelope, it seemed she had completed it during her free time over the summer vacation. Lin Yue's organized study points had helped Penelope save time, and Penelope had used that saved time for her own benefit.

Lin Yue smiled happily and carefully placed the magical silk scarf on her bed. The remaining gifts were from the members of Ravenclaw and a large number of Hufflepuff, including snacks, small trinkets, and decorations. However, everyone had a tacit understanding that no one gave her books, not even the Hufflepuffs.

In addition, there was one thing that surprised Lin Yue: the gift from Harry and Ron. She didn't know if the two boys had matured or if someone had given them a good idea. The gift they sent this time was exceptionally thoughtful and wise, even Hermione, after changing her clothes, looked a bit surprised.

"Is this a gift from Harry and Ron together for you?" She looked at the crystal ball in Lin Yue's hand with some astonishment, feeling a bit shocked at the growth of these two boys.

Unauthorized tale usage: if you spot this story on Amazon, report the violation.

"Yes," Lin Yue replied with a radiant smile, turning back around, her joy almost completely overshadowing the underlying stillness, "that's what the letter says."

"Not bad," Hermione nodded in approval, "have they finally grown up?"

"Well, it's about time..."

Hermione murmured softly to herself, after all, it would be a year or two, or if things went quickly, it could be now... Harry and Ron should be dating by now.

If those two didn't grow up any time soon, she couldn't even imagine how "devastated" their girlfriends would be.

Looking down at the crystal ball in her hands, she saw a castle standing amidst the wind and snow, clearly Hogwarts, and in front of Hogwarts, several little magical figures were happily having a snowball fight.

This scene was just like the time in their first year when she, Harry, Ron, and the Weasley twins had a snowball fight together.

It turned out that everyone would remember... remember the memories of being with her, remember everything related to her...

The three senior girls remembered her past hardships and the Boggart, Harry and Ron remembered the times they had snowball fights with her, and Hermione remembered the promises she had made to her.

Even more people remembered certain things about her; otherwise, why would there be not a single book in her Christmas gifts?

After all, she was a Ravenclaw.

After placing the crystal ball neatly on the table, Lin Yue suddenly felt that there were many things she could understand now.

For example, the reason why no one gave her books.

It was probably out of sympathy... Whether or not they knew the truth, everyone could feel her hard work and determination, so they were unwilling to remind her of her struggles during such a joyful holiday.

After all, it was a holiday, a festival, and happiness should come first.

"Let's go, let's wake up Senior Cho Chang and Senior Marietta, and then go to the Great Hall for breakfast together."

Hermione smiled and gently tapped Lin Yue's shoulder, indicating the two beds behind them where Cho Chang and Marietta were sleeping soundly.

"Okay." Lin Yue's smile faded slightly, but she still maintained a smile as she walked to Cho Chang's bedside and gently pulled back the bed curtain.

Cho Chang was lying in bed, her fair arms and shoulders sticking out from under the covers, with her black hair spread out on the pillow as she slept peacefully.

"Cho Chang, Cho Chang, it's time to get up, we need to go eat breakfast."

Lin Yue reached out and gently pushed Cho Chang's shoulder through the covers, while on the other bed, Hermione was softly calling Marietta.

"Mm, mm... I'll get up right away."

Cho Chang responded drowsily, rubbing her eyes and slowly sitting up, leaning against the headboard to wake up.

Seeing that Cho Chang was awake, Lin Yue took a step back, politely lowered the bed curtain for her, and stood aside with Hermione, waiting for the two seniors to get dressed.

After they got dressed and washed up, Lin Yue and Hermione followed Cho Chang and Marietta out of the Ravenclaw common room.

Marietta turned her head and smiled at Lin Yue, "Lin Yue, did you like the gift I gave you?"

"I really liked it, thank you, Marietta."

Lin Yue nodded without hesitation, and the three of them looked happily at the smile on her face.

After a moment's hesitation, Lin Yue bit her lip and said, "But is it really appropriate for you to give me a princess dress, Marietta? I'm not a princess, and I don't have... the life of a princess."

Marietta shook her head with a smile and put her arm around Lin Yue's shoulder.

"Who says you're not a princess and don't have the life of a princess? As long as we want to, every girl can be a princess, her own princess."

"That's right," Hermione nodded beside her, also reaching out to tidy Lin Yue's hair, "and those boys like Harry, as long as they want to and believe it, every boy can be a prince, their own prince."

"And," Hermione leaned closer to Lin Yue's ear and whispered, "in my eyes, you are my princess."

Lin Yue's earlobes slowly turned red as she turned to look at Hermione, a shy smile appearing on her face.

"I understand now."

She nodded seriously, realizing that she should have more confidence in herself, love herself more, and believe in herself more.

As they entered the hall, Lin Yue and Hermione had just sat down at the Ravenclaw long table when Harry and Ron hurried over from the Gryffindor table.

Harry was holding a brand new broomstick, which looked extremely high-end and luxurious. Lin Yue, who had already mastered the entire British wizarding business, immediately recognized that this broomstick was the latest model, the Firebolt, which was currently being sold through her hands.

"Wow, it's a Firebolt," exclaimed Cho Chang, a fellow Quidditch player who, like Harry, loved the sport. She then looked up at him curiously and asked, "Who was so generous as to give you a Firebolt?"

Harry and Ron exchanged glances, and Harry carefully placed the Firebolt on the Ravenclaw table. He then lowered his voice to a volume only they could hear and said, "That's the problem; I don't know who sent it. There's no signature, no card, nothing at all."

As he spoke, he furrowed his brow. After the events of the past two years, he felt he had to be cautious in situations like this. Not to mention that outside of Hogwarts, there were Sirius Black and Peter Pettigrew, and he had no idea who might want him dead.

"Sending such an expensive gift without a signature or card?"

Hermione looked seriously at the Firebolt on the Ravenclaw table; given the circumstances, it was impossible for her not to be suspicious.

After hearing Harry's words, Lin Yue silently drew her wand and used all the detection spells she knew on the Firebolt in front of her. Various magical lights burst forth from the Firebolt, and she looked up and shook her head at the others.

"According to my inspection, there doesn't seem to be any problem with it, nor has anyone tampered with it."

"But my magical abilities are ultimately limited, so I can't be entirely sure that this Firebolt is completely safe."

"You are too modest," Penelope, who had just sat down next to them, shook her head. Lin Yue's magical skills had already surpassed theirs by an unknown margin.

She dared to say that Lin Yue's current magical level was definitely approaching that of the professors. Of course, there were certainly some areas where she was not as good as the professors, but there were also aspects where she far exceeded them.

"In that case," Hermione looked up at Harry, "although you might not be happy to hear this, I still suggest that you temporarily refrain from using this Firebolt and hand it over to the professors, asking them to check it thoroughly for you."

"After all, there might still be someone out there wanting to take your life, right?"

Upon hearing Hermione's words, Harry quickly shook his head. "I'm not unhappy; I actually agree with your suggestion."

Ron, standing next to him, nodded vigorously. "Yeah, I think so too. After all, Harry's safety is the most important."

If something had happened to Harry's Nimbus 2000, perhaps these two boys who were passionate about Quidditch would have been more anxious.

But since nothing had happened to Harry's Firebolt, they were completely at ease. After all, Harry had never lost a match while riding his Nimbus 2000, except for the last game, which was lost due to the Dementors' influence.

Having made their decision, Lin Yue and Hermione accompanied the two boys as they walked up to the staff table.

Professor McGonagall and Professor Flitwick, who were having breakfast at the staff table, looked up and smiled at their students as they approached.

"Merry Christmas, children! Is there something you need?"

Professor McGonagall smiled gently, her gaze lingering on the Firebolt in Harry's hand, slightly surprised.

"Merry Christmas, Professor McGonagall, Professor Flitwick."

Harry politely greeted the professors, and after the other three had also greeted them one by one, he placed the Firebolt on the teachers' table.

"Professor McGonagall, I received this Firebolt this morning, but there was no signature, no card, and I don't know who sent it to me."

"I suppose I shouldn't doubt the person who gave me a gift," Harry scratched his head, looking a bit guilty, "but... my situation is a bit special, and right now outside..."

Before Harry could finish, Professor McGonagall, Professor Flitwick, and the other professors all changed their expressions and became serious again, even Professor Snape cast a glance at them.

"You are not wrong, Mr. Potter." Professor McGonagall adjusted her glasses and leaned down to examine the Firebolt closely. Of course, on the surface, she did not notice anything unusual.

Raising her head again, she smiled appreciatively at the four children, "I am proud of your vigilance, children; safety is the most important thing."

As she spoke, she waved her wand, causing Harry's Firebolt to fly to the ground behind the teachers' table.

"I will examine this Firebolt carefully and will also hand it over to Professor Dumbledore for him to check."

"If there are no issues, I will return it to you in one piece as soon as possible."

"Thank you, Professor McGonagall." Harry sighed in relief, showing a relaxed smile.

"You're welcome, Mr. Potter," Professor McGonagall raised an eyebrow, "If this Firebolt is fine, I think I will look forward to seeing you riding it, soaring in the Quidditch pitch at Hogwarts."
