Chapter 118: Taking Drastic Measures

Chapter 118: Taking Drastic Measures

For the Slytherins at Hogwarts, there is no doubt that this day is extremely difficult to endure.

Although the professors' attitudes towards them have not changed compared to before, the students from the other three houses have clearly begun to see them as enemies. Even the most peaceful Hufflepuffs would show a look of disdain and dodge to the side when they saw them on the road, as if afraid that they would be incited by them to have Rita Skeeter slander them.

It is evident that the two news stories instigated by Rita Skeeter at the behest of their families have truly angered everyone.

Outside the school, it wasn't even lunchtime yet, and it was shortly after the Daily Prophet building had just been destroyed. A swarm of owls flew in, dropping hundreds of letters, burying Rita Skeeter under them. Among them were many howler letters that exploded with furious shouts as soon as they were opened.

"You are shameless, despicable thing, slandering your former professor!"

"Are you trying to ruin the lives of two girls?! How dare you spread such rumors! People like you should be locked up in Azkaban to receive the Dementor's kiss!"

The various curses were endless, and the staff of the Daily Prophet standing nearby were dumbfounded. They had never realized that there could be so many creative ways to insult someone.

One lady, a graduate of Ravenclaw, was writing furiously, recording the words from the howler letters as quickly as possible. She had already made up her mind to go find the editor of the Daily Prophet and resign. Then she would start her own newspaper; after all, isn't that just a mouthpiece for propaganda? They, the pure-blood families, have the Daily Prophet under the Ministry of Magic.

The Ravenclaws created a magical world bulletin for Lin Yue and Hermione, and she even came up with a name for the newspaper. The first issue would report on how Rita Skeeter was being criticized in various ways, which would definitely boost the readership!

At this moment, the various pure-blood families and the Ministry of Magic in the British magical community were also feeling extremely uncomfortable. They all received letters at the same time revoking patent licenses, and almost 80% of potions and magical items on the market were simultaneously banned from sale, except for St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries.

Even the latest model of the flying broomstick, the Firebolt, had its pre-sale halted, and all orders were put on hold. With just two reports, Rita Skeeter had successfully paralyzed a large part of the British magical community.

By the time Lin Yue finished a whole day of classes and arrived at the Great Hall for dinner, the Slytherins had already donned their masks of pain, sitting at their seats with bitter expressions, unable to say a word. They silently lowered their heads to eat dinner, and some couldn't even eat, covering their faces as tears streamed down like they were free-flowing.

"Merlin, do they have to be this dramatic?"

Marietta looked at the Slytherins sitting in their seats, crying non-stop, and frowned deeply.

"Our Ravenclaw's patent authorization has only been interrupted for a day; do they really need to be like this?"

"Indeed, Lin Yue and Hermione were slandered like that and didn't say anything."

Qiu nodded and added another piece of steak to Lin Yue's plate beside her.

Lin Yue shook her head, cut the steak, put it in her mouth, and said calmly with a blank expression,

"I blew up the Daily Prophet building, the kind that left no ashes."

"Poof! Cough cough cough..."

The three senior sitting next to her choked on their food upon hearing her words, and after a painful coughing fit, they turned to look at her.

Penelope, who originally intended to explain to the younger students why the Slytherins were so devastated, decided to put that aside.

"You blew up the Daily Prophet building? When did that happen?"

"This morning."

Lin Yue raised her head, her eyes mixed with silence and indifference as she looked at Penelope.

"But you were with us all morning, right? And then you went to Potions class with Hermione."

"Did Lin Yue leave during Potions class?"

Cho Chang turned to ask Hermione, who had just walked over to the Ravenclaw table.

Hermione paused for a moment at the question, sat down, took a sip of pumpkin juice, and shook her head. "No, Lin Yue didn't leave at all during Potions class. What's wrong, Cho Chang?"

"Why are you asking this?"

As she spoke, she looked Lin Yue up and down, but there didn't seem to be anything wrong, and she wasn't injured.

"Um... Lin Yue blew up the Daily Prophet building."

Cho Chang tried to organize her words to make the situation sound less shocking, but she failed.

No matter how she phrased it, it wouldn't help!

"What?" Hermione turned to look at Lin Yue, who also turned to look back at Hermione.

Love what you're reading? Discover and support the author on the platform they originally published on.

The indifference in her eyes was replaced by determination, and the silence was mixed with resolve, as if to say, they slandered you, I had to blow that place up to give them a warning.

Hermione bit her lip and reached out to ruffle Lin Yue's hair. "You’ve worked hard. You didn’t actually kill anyone, did you?"

As she asked, Hermione was thinking about what she would need to do if Lin Yue had actually killed someone, to keep it from being known by others.

She also couldn't let Lin Yue bear any psychological burden because of it.

"I didn't," Lin Yue shook her head with an indifferent expression. "You said that life is precious and that I shouldn't kill people casually."

"Oh, Merlin beard, you really are a well-behaved sweetheart."

Hermione rubbed Lin Yue's cheeks hard with both hands, appreciating how Lin Yue remembered every word she said and followed through on them bit by bit. She found her absolutely adorable; of course, it would be even better if Lin Yue had a few more of her own ideas.

"Well, since that's the case, it doesn't matter. If it blew up, it blew up. No one found out it was you who did it, right?"

"No," Lin Yue shook her head mechanically again.

"That's good." Hermione nodded with a smile, completely unconcerned that Lin Yue had done anything wrong.

The three senior sitting nearby couldn't help but twitch their lips at the sight; Hermione was spoiling Lin Yue to this extent now. However... "Well done."

The three of them praised Lin Yue in unison, just like Hermione.

"But I'm more curious about how you managed to do it. After all, according to Hermione, you didn't leave Hogwarts at all this morning."

Marietta looked at Lin Yue with great interest, very curious about how her "magical junior" managed to blow up the Daily Prophet building in her absence.

"Missiles?"

Hermione instinctively chimed in with a guess, but quickly shook her head.

"No, no, you can't possibly control missiles."

Faced with the unified puzzled looks of the four girls, five metallic spheres flew out of Lin Yue's wizard robe pocket.

"Laser floating cannons, created using Transfiguration based on certain Muggle physical and chemical principles."

"I can control them to accurately strike any person I can find within the UK."

"Impressive!"

Penelope leaned closer to the five metal spheres and examined them carefully. "On the surface, they really don't look like something that could blow up a building."

"If it flew in the sky, I doubt anyone would even see it."

"Yes," Lin Yue said with a slight smile, "in the morning, no one noticed their existence at all."

"Tsk tsk tsk, luckily Lin Yue isn't a Dark Lord."

Marietta shook her head in amazement, and after realizing she had misspoken, she gave her own mouth a couple of taps.

"What am I saying? Lin Yue would never be a Dark Lord, after all, you're so nice and so cute."

As she spoke, she couldn't help but poke Lin Yue's cheek, which was soft and bouncy. No wonder Hermione was so enthusiastic about pinching it earlier.

"Marietta senior, you don't need to worry," Lin Yue said, shaking her head with a neutral expression.

"According to data analysis, if I hadn't encountered you all, I indeed had a certain chance of becoming like Voldemort outside of the option of death."

"What a terrifying assumption," Cho Chang shivered at the mention of that name. "If Lin Yue really became a Dark Lord, the British magical world might not last a month."

"More like a week would be enough."

Penelope shrugged her shoulders and said self-deprecatingly, "With the level of unity in our magical community, there really won't be many people resisting. Plus, Lin Yue has more tricks up her sleeve than the Dark Lord. It would be great if we can hold out for a week."

Lin Yue blinked and didn't reveal the calculations in her mind. According to her deductions, if she were to act like Voldemort and completely disregard human life, with her current magical power, she could actually wipe out the British magical community within three days. Of course, this was without considering the involvement of true powerhouses in the British wizarding world, like Professor Dumbledore and Newt Scamander.

If they all truly stood on the opposing side, then according to her calculations, Lin Yue would need an additional two days.

"So I still don't understand, why are they suffering so much?" Marietta looked at the Slytherin table with a complicated expression, her face full of confusion.

"Why indeed."

Penelope nodded, "You haven't reached the point where you need to understand employment yet, so you might not be clear on what it means that most of the patents in the British magical world are in Ravenclaw's hands."

"In simple terms, the entire British magical world, except for St. Mungo's, which we intentionally left alone, is already paralyzed."

"Various potions and magical products can no longer be sold, and those defaulted orders need to be compensated by the pure-blood families behind them."

"Uh, but don't we have any responsibility for this matter?"

Cho Chang looked at Penelope with some uncertainty; she actually wanted to ask this yesterday. After all, by common sense, this could also be considered a breach of contract, right?

"Oh, naive child."

Penelope affectionately ruffled her junior's hair, "Many of the laws in the magical world, including the law enforcement department, have a lot of our Ravenclaw people involved in their formulation."

"As long as we want, we can keep dragging this out. The pure-blood families from Slytherin will have to keep losing money, and the Ministry of Magic will have to keep facing a paralyzed magical world."

"So, it's normal for them to cry."

As Penelope spoke, she raised a smile reminiscent of a villain, and Hermione swallowed hard at her senior's expression.

Wow... those pure-blood families are nothing compared to the monopoly in the magical world; it's Ravenclaw, who holds the knowledge, that truly monopolizes the magical world!

"At most three days," Lin Yue raised her head after finishing dinner and wiped her mouth, "the British magical world will face a complete market collapse."

"Before that, the Ministry of Magic and the pure-blood families will definitely apologize."

"Yes, this will severely damage their prestige, and our goal will be achieved."

Turning to Penelope, Lin Yue quickly constructed a plan in her mind to completely collapse the existing structure of the British magical world.

"Senior Penelope, does everyone in Ravenclaw have any interest in completely collapsing the current market structure of the British magical world, or even the overall structure?"

Hearing Lin Yue's words, Penelope exchanged glances with those around her, and the little eagles quickly gathered around to ensure they could hear what Lin Yue was about to say.

"First," Lin Yue raised one finger, "I will invest in constructing an industrial chain that can meet the needs of the British magical market within the next two days, replacing the market share of the Ministry of Magic and the pure-blood families."

"I believe that after the events of the Daily Prophet, Hufflepuff and Gryffindor will be willing to stand on our side, so we won't have to worry about not having anyone to use it."

"Second," Lin Yue continued, raising a second finger, "when the Ministry of Magic and the pure-blood families apologize, we will present a condition that they absolutely cannot agree to."

"After that, we will completely sever Ravenclaw's various patents from both parties and transfer them to the industrial chain I construct."

"The ownership of the industrial chain I build will belong to all of Ravenclaw, Gryffindor, and Hufflepuff."

"Once Slytherin completely eliminates blood purity theory and Voldemort is completely dead, the industrial chain will then accept Slytherin."

"Hiss... that would mean completely tearing the face off. What if those pure-blood families and the Ministry of Magic flip the table?"

Cho Chang nodded in agreement but also expressed his concerns.

"They won't flip the table."

Lin Yue's voice was calm as she glanced at the pocket of her wizard robe. Cho Chang, Marietta, Penelope, and Hermione instantly understood.

"I think it's fine."

The four of them nodded in approval, and the surrounding Ravenclaws also nodded after serious consideration.

Lin Yue took out her money pouch and black card from her pocket, turned to Hermione, and said, "I might be a bit late returning to the dorm tonight, so could you please help me return the books and borrow a new batch? I've finished reading all those books."

"Sure."

Hermione nodded, gently hugged Lin Yue's head, and kissed her forehead. "Be careful with everything."

"Okay."

Lin Yue said calmly, then stood up and walked towards the teacher's desk. The professors who were discussing something at the teacher's desk immediately stopped when they saw Lin Yue arrive. The eyes slowly shifted to Principal Dumbledore, and Lin Yue said without any fluctuation in her tone, "Principal Dumbledore, sorry to interrupt your meal, but I would like to go out this evening."
