CHAPTER 340
Chapter 340 Giving Birth to a Baby Boy Clarissa was in the throes of discomfort. Beads of sweat
covered her forehead. She quickly called Leah and asked weakly, “Where are you now?” “I’m stuck in
traffic right now. See if you can make your way to the park. The car can’t enter the park,” Leah Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.
explained. “But I…” Clarissa tried to stand up, but her stomach hurt so much that she could not.
“What’s wrong?” Leah could tell Clarissa was not well and grew anxious. “I’ll call President Lawrence!
Wait for me.”
After the call with Clarissa ended, Leah called Damien. “President Lawrence, Mrs. Lawrence is in
Genovia Park right now! She’s feeling unwell and can barely speak.”
Damien gulped anxiously. “I know. I’m on my way there.” He thought Clarissa would go out for a break.
The only place he could think of was Genovia Park. He was almost there.
Clarissa was deathly pale. She even tried to curl up to relieve the pain. A cleaner lady noticed her and
saw her in bad shape. “Madam, do you need any help?”
“P-Please help me out of the park. My family my family’s waiting for me outside.”
“You’re in labor, aren’t you?” The cleaner noticed the wet stain on Clarissa’s pants. Perhaps her water
had broken. “How can that be?!” Clarissa was deeply worried. She was still a month away from her
pregnancy due date.
She was still in a good mood a few days ago. If she had kept it that way, this wouldn’t have happened.
Although Monica had said something about Damien and Madelynn’s relationship, it wasn’t enough to
make Clarissa go into premature labor. It was Connie’s words that crushed her.
Clarissa clenched her palm in anger. Connie!
She used all her strength and finally arrived at the park entrance. Fortunately, Damien’s car arrived just
in time.
“Sir, your wife’s in labor! You should take her to the hospital.”
Damien frowned upon hearing that. It was still a month away from Clarissa’s labor. Therefore, it was
premature labor!
He quickly helped the pale Clarissa into the car and drove towards the maternity hospital where
Bethany was.
On the way, he called Mrs. Faber and told her to wait at Genovia Hospital
Clarissa stayed curled up in the back seat and moaned in terrible pain. Damien wanted to explain what
had happened before, but he could not say it.
The car sped on to the destination. When they arrived at the hospital, Bethany rushed Clarissa into the
delivery room. Damien followed them, afraid that something might happen to
Clarissa.
Fortunately, Clarissa had been doing yoga, and it helped with the delivery. One of the babies’ heads
was already showing.
Clarissa was in excruciating agony. The pain was so much, she felt close to dying. She even wondered
if the king of hell wanted to pull her under and never let her come back to life again.
The first child finally came out. It was a baby boy.
“Time of birth, 3:38 p.m.,” said the nurse. She brought the baby to Clarissa, but Clarissa was much too
dazed. With her blurry vision, she could barely tell if the baby was a girl or boy.
Damien wasn’t in the mood to look at the baby, either.
A midwife monitored the other baby’s weak heartbeat. It was bad news. She reported it to Bethany with
a whisper to the ear.
Clarissa was in danger of hemorrhaging in forced labor. On top of that, she was already too exhausted
at this point. She was on the verge of fainting, her head full of sweat. Even if she wanted to have a
normal delivery, she could not
“Prepare for C-section for the second baby.” Bethany put on her gloves and said firmly to the nurse, “If
the interval is too long, the baby will suffocate.”
“Dr. Beth, the other baby’s heart has stopped,” the nurse informed Bethany regretfully.
Bethany was stunned, and remained stiff for a long time. Then, she took a sideway glance at Damien
“President Lawrence,” Bethany said to Damien apologetically “I just want Clarissa to be fine!” Damien
looked irritated and grim.
Bethany checked Clarissa’s eyes and explained, “She’s in transient shock. We have to operate now to
remove the stillbirth. President Lawrence, you’ll have to go outside.”
The boy who had just been born earlier was already in the incubator.
Damien came out of the delivery room, mentally exhausted, and took a seat on a bench in the hallway.
