CHAPTER 465 SPLIT CLARISSA AND DAMIEN UP
That night, Madelynn’s oxygen tube was removed.
When Monica stepped into the ward the next day, her heart sank when she saw that there didn’t seem
to be any sign of Madelynn breathing. She touched Madelynn’s body, and found that it was ice-cold.
Madelynn’s caretaker wasn’t around either.
The doctor said that Madelynn was temporarily out of danger. It had only been one night. How…
Was Damien behind this?
Monica collapsed to the floor, dumbfounded. Then, she burst into tears and screeched, “Oh, my poor
daughter! How could you just leave me behind like this? Oh, Madelynn! What a piece of trash that
Damien is…”
It was still early, and the nurses hadn’t started making their rounds yet. One of the nurses, as well as a
few patients nearby, came in to see what had happened.
The nurse quickly checked Madelynn’s body, and apologized to Monica.
Monica didn’t buy it. She wanted to lodge a complaint against the hospital for dereliction of duties.
Her sobs grew louder. “Madelynn, oh, Madelynn…! Damien’s the only man you’ve ever loved, but he’s
a complete scumbag! It’s bad enough that he didn’t come to see you at all, but he even removed your Belonging to .
oxygen tube so he wouldn’t have to pay your medical bill! I want to make a police report. Call the
police!”
Someone handed a phone to Monica. She called the police immediately.
The police looked into the matter and concluded that Madelynn had been murdered. They had gone
through the surveillance footage, and found that someone had snuck into her ward the night before.
“Huh…?” Monica was scared out of her wits.
She hadn’t actually thought that someone had murdered Madelynn. Her wailing and sobbing was only
to smear Damien’s reputation as payback for not footing the bill. Now that Madelynn had indeed been
murdered, Monica was terrified. She didn’t dare to go to Damien.
The police started to investigate the murder.
Damien had a strong alibi, however. The police had no choice but to search for other suspects.
Damien found Madelynn’s death to be quite a pity. Had he known she would die so soon, he wouldn’t
have agreed to help Lucy find Buddy a new family. Of course, his main objective had been to find out to
whom the child really belonged.
At the very least, he could explain this to Clarissa.
……
On the other hand, Iris announced that she was going to be filming a new drama called Female
Emperor. It would cover the life of the female lead from the age of twenty to eighty, and it was a proper
drama focusing on how the female lead built her empire. It was different from soap operas that were
everywhere nowadays, and incorporated a lot of elements similar to Iris’s own life. She was unmarried
and had built an empire of her own, and there was no way she would allow her female lead to get
caught up in petty love and romance.
All the top actresses wanted to land the role of the female lead, named Haley Starr.
Connie wanted to give it a shot as well. She felt that as one of the actresses under Iris’s agency, there
was a higher chance of her getting the role.
However, Iris told Connie that if she wanted to land the role, she had to split Clarissa and Damien up.
Otherwise, Connie could forget about even getting a role as a palace maiden, let alone the female
emperor.
Connie was in a bind. She was interested in Caleb, so it wasn’t likely for her to use him to drive them
apart. Who else could she use?
“Damn it! Why does she keep torturing me like this? I might not get the role even after splitting them
up!” Connie cursed.
At the moment, she was still at the hotel in Florin with her mother. She still had a little bit left to film
here.
“Calm down. I’ll get your dad to do something,” Cindy said.
“Dad?”
“Yeah. I’ll tell him to talk about Theresa to Clarissa. I don’t believe she’ll be able to let things go so
easily.” Cindy wanted her daughter to land a huge role, so naturally, she would go all out to help
Connie.
With that, she called Peter.
