In the first week 'Billy Elliot' grossed $19.4 million. In this week all over america there was 19% spike in the students who enrolled into ballet classes. Ballet was not a popular form of dance among average americans especially among boys. Some event think that it was for girls, weirdos and gays. So, to see that much spike in the enrollment for ballet classes was nothing to scoff about.

But Alex had no time to care all about that. He and the whole production team moved to Brownsville, Oregon to shoot the film.  The town was selected for its small town, 1950s ambience. The director of the film was Rob Reiner, who directed the original version.

For the role of local hoodlum and gang leader 'Ace' Merrill, Robert Downey Jr. was cast on Alex's recommendation. 

"Alex you are going to make you fans disappointed by doing this film." Robert said in the leisure time.

Alex gave a reluctant smile. This film contains crude language and scenes. There were scenes involving all the boys smoking cigarettes. If everything goes same as previous life it will get R: rating which means Alex will lose most of his base audience.

"Its regrettable but necessary Robert. If I can't make a transition then I will become one of those child actors who fade away with time."

Robert nodded at those words. Many brilliant child stars couldn't make successful transition to adult actors because they couldn't break their moulds.

"What's next Alex?" Robert questionedd.

Alex made a question mark face.

"I mean after this, what's your next film?" Robert explained.

"Well, I am thinking of taking a break."

Robert was caught off-guard at that response. Alex was the busiest star in Hollywood and now he was taking a break. "Why?"

"I'm kind of tired with non-stop schedules. And didn't you notice something with me?"

Robert couldn't understand what he said and took a long careful look at Alex. Then it hit Robert.

"You have hit your growth spurt." Robert said.

"Yes, I grew 2 inches in the last two weeks. It took a long time to hit my growth spurt but finally it did."

Alex was now 5'5" and by the way he was growing it won't be long to reach the height normal adult male. Alex couldn't start a new project until he stopped growing.

"Well best of luck anyway." Robert smiled at that.

It took a whole 35 days to complete the film. It's a long time for such a small budget film but it was necessary to make it perfect.

After the wrap up, Alex and Robert both went back to L.A. "Billy Elliott" in four weeks grossed $52.4 million domesticaaly and $32.6 million overseas for total $85 million globally.

After returning home, Alex received an invitation for him to present an Oscar at the award ceremony.

Alex chose to accept the invitation.

"World trip." Kim was surprised."Why so sudden ?"

"Because God knows when I will get time again. I think it would be a great experience."

KIm was silent."How long ?"

"I will return at end of the year."

Kim was uncomfortable with this plan. She and Alex were never seperated that long. Even during this one month shooting Kim visited Alex two times on location. But Kim don't want to restrict Alex.

"Take Alfred with you." 

"But Kim, the whole point was to do it alone." Alex tried to convince her.

"But...." Kim stopped herself saying anything. She knew Alex was more than capable of taking care of himself. Kim reluctantly nodded.

"Kim, you're the best." Alex hugged her tightly.

Kim breathed his scent deeply so that she can never forget.
