"Indiana Jones plays no role in the outcome of the story. If he weren’t in the film, it would turn out exactly the same fucking way." Alex was saying to Speilberg.
"Alex......watch your words." Kim scolded him.
"Pardon my French." Alex just shrugged.
"What the hell are you talking about ?" Steven asked as if Alex was saying that he was not a man.
"Come on think about it. If he weren’t in the movie, the Nazis would have still found the ark, taken it to the island, opened it up and all died, just like they did. And Ark still would not have fallen into the hands of Nazis."
Steven was about to say something but swallowed his words after thinking about that.
"Come on Alex, you ruined the movie for me. Why do you have to be such a joy kill ?" George Lucas complained to Alex.
"Hey just telling the facts." Alex raised his hands in defense.
Today was Thanksgiving Day and Kim and Alex invited their friends. Frank Marshall, Kathleen Kennedy, Steven and George Lucas came to the dinner. Alex can see that Frank and Kathleen are dating and he also knew that if all goes well they are going to be married in 1987 and stay married until 2016, the year Alex died.
George's marriage with his wife was on rocks, so he didn't bring her. Steve was a Jew Bachelor and he had nothing better to do on holiday anyway.
As they were talking the door bell started ringing and Kim went to look who it was.
After five minutes Kim brought a woman in her late 20s.
" Everybody this is my friend Kathleen Capshaw, everybody calls her Kate....." Kim was introducing her to everybody. Alex almost spurt the juice in his mouth after hearing her name. He know that name. Alex loooked at Steven and saw that Steven was looking at Kate with interest.
Kate Capshaw was actually Steven's second wife married in 1991and remained to the date of Alex death. Steve's first was Amy Irving whom he started dating in 1976 but they broke up in 1980. Eventually they get back together in 1984, married in 1985 divorced in 1989.
Steven met Kate when she was cast as leading lady in 'Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom' and it was still one year away. Alex can't even imagine how the future will be. Fate works in mysterious ways.
If you encounter this story on Amazon, note that it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.
Alex doesn't want to meddle in the life of Steven and bring unnecessary complications. Alex decided to keep an eye on Kate anyway.
The Thanksgiving dinner went without a hitch and Kate got acquainted with everybody. She was a nice person. Everybody except Steven left to their homes and the reason was ....
"Come on Kim, give me her adress or phone number.......it's not like that........ listen, it's professional alright......I am telling the truth, nothing but the truth...."
Alex didn't know whether laugh or cry seeing Steven groveling to Kim like that. Alex shook his head and though 'somethings are out of our control'.
..................................................
Alex was listening to the financial report announced by his accountant, Christina Johnson who was working for Alex since 1977. This year Phoenix Studios made a huge profit. 'Lucas' which cost $4 million buget and $3 million promotion cost grossed $150 million. Removing the Theatre costs, taxes 'Lucas' made a profit of $81 million. 'Mr. Mom' the film Alex invested minted $8 million.
Alex's share of profits from all the video casette sales of his films minte him $11 million and Alex's other business ventures like Costco., Walmart shares, Apple shares brought him $25 million. This year Alex's profit after paying all the taxes is a staggering $125 million. By combining the $25 million already in his account Alex's account holds $150 million making him the youngest self-made millionaire. And this is all without counting his shares in Microsoft and Oracle which didn't go public and he still has to collect the profits from 'Empire of the Sun'. This $150 million is pure liquid cash, not shares, not properties but pure liquid cash.
'People' magazine wrote a coverpage article about Alex's success and his wealth. Alex's six films grossed over $2.5 billion worldwide making him the most successful actor without adjusting for inflation.
