"There are so many veterans in competition this year. Just consider the acting nominees alone. We have screen veterans Henry Fonda, John Gielgud, Katherine Hepburn and Alex King. Oh, I'm sorry, Alex's not a veteran but who cares his film's grossed more money than any veteran's all films put together." everybody laughed as they all know Alex's four films combined grossed $2 billion globally.
The award show continued and time came for the Best Supporting Actor award.

Everybody congratulated Alex but he still was in a daze. Though he knew he got chance to win the award, it was still such a schock. It was his first Oscar win for acting, the profession he never thought he would choose.
After receiving the award, Alex said "Well,..ha..I don't know what to say. I always imagined saying something cool and sophisticated after receiving the award, but my mind is blank right now. So, I will just say, thank you for your support." Alex finished with a simple speech.
It was Alex's second Oscar that night as he won Best Original Screenplay (The Sixth Sense). Even when receiving that award Alex was composed but his brain got muddled receiving the acting award. Over Alex won three individual Oscars (Best Original Screenplay E.T.).
Henry Fonda won Best Actor (On Golden Pond)
Katherine Hepburn won Best Actress (On Golden Pond). Kim was not upset for losing as she knew she got a long road ahead of her.

Alex and Steven started the filming of "Empire of the Sun" in Shanghai. Alex with the experience he gained while shooting "Lucas" integrated into the role of Jim Graham. The common ground between Jim and Alex is hunger. Jim's main motive behind his actions in the film was to escape hunger. Alex experience in his both lives. He fought for food in his previous life. He was kept hungry as punishment in this life. So, Alex was perfect for this role.
Alex loved the Shanghai city. It is the most populous city in the world. There was always something to visit in his spare time like museums, historic buildings.
Alex received a good news from his lawyer Ethan that he gained 25% ownership in the Oracle Systems Corporation by $20 million funds. Ethan thought the price was somewhat high but Alex demanded to purchase it.
Alex earned newfound respect as an actor from Steven Spielberg while filming the movie. Alex's depiction of Jim as the boy who does whatever necessary to stay alive and at the same time his desire to help others. Alex showed the Jim's character growth throughout the film.
After a difficult and tight scheduled three weeks, the shooting part in Shanghai was completed. Next, they travelled to Spain to film the remaining part. Meanwhile, Jeff Spencer, the head of Pheonix Studios, who Alex appointed negotiated with AMC Entertainment Inc. and Regal Entertainment group and got 700 theatres for the release of "Lucas" on June 3, 1982.
It was the first film that the Pheonix Studios was distributing and all the employees of Pheonix Studios were under a lot of pressure. Three days before the preview ceremony Alex came to the company after successfully completing the filming of "Empire of the Sun".
Other Studios were not optimistic about "Lucas" as it was different from Alex's previous films. E.T. had the alien, "The Sixth Sense" had Al Pacino and "Home Alone" films are comedy films.
