Chapter 29: Righting the Wrongs

Chapter 29: Righting the Wrongs

"Take good care of yourself  Drew. If you are afraid of anything call me or Alex okay ?" Kim was giving instructions to Drew, who was nodding her energetically.

Alex smiled seeing that scene. Kim and Drew seem like a mother and daughter. They get along very well. Alex's car was waiting to take Drew to her house. Drew had tears welling up in her eyes. Alex doesn't want to let her go to Jaid but it's not the time. When time was right he will make his move.

After Drew left Kim was kind of sad. Kim always loved children and having Drew in the house was great.

As they got back into the house, telephone started ringing and Kim answered it. Alex sat on the couch and was looking through the scripts when Kim entered the room and Alex can see she was happy.

"Alex I got the role in the 'Scarface'"

"Congratulations, who told you the news ?"

"That's director Brian on the phone. He said that it was a tough choice until last minute as the producer wanted to cast another actress."

Alex wrinled his brow "What's her name?"

"Michelle Pfeiffer. She was in that film 'Grease 2' that bombed at the box office. I though she was good on it but the film is rotten. Nobody are willing to cast her in their films. I saw her audition she had great potential but your name tippled the balance to my side. Though I know it's common in Hollywood but I still feel bad about her." Kim sighed with regret.

'Not as bad as I feel.' Alex thought in his heart.

Until now Alex changed many things. He copied others scripts but they would have been successful anyway. If not Alex remembered those names to help in the future. 'Scarface' was Michele Pfeiffer's breakthrough role but now she lost that role. Actresses are different from directors, screenwriters and even actors. For actresses' to be a star they have to do that in their youth. If you question what about Helen Mirren, Meryl Streep as they were still acting well past their time then the answer is that they were stars already in their youth.

A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

Since he was responsible Alex decided to right the wrong he did. And the solution was right in his hands. The script in his hands was turned down repeatedly but the producer was still looking for the investment. The script name was "Splash", the star vehicle for the "Tom Hanks".

Though Daryl Hannah played the mermaid role in this film, but even if she lost this chance she can play other roles as she was popular already. And Michelle was way better actress than Daryl anyway.

Alex made the decision and made a call to Jeff Spencer to tell him that he can contact the producer, Brian Grazer.

After the call Alex felt that slight guilt vanished. Feeling guilt is a motherfucker.

............................................................

Ron Miller, president of Walt Disney productions decided to release "Billy Elliot" in February. Ron Miller already used his connections to make Alex get nominated to Oscar and he had the confidence in the efforts of Spielberg and Alex. If he got nominated then it will be a great publicity for the film and Valentine's day was a great occasion as most of Alex's fans were Kids and women.

Alex had no objections on the release date. Though February was a slow month for box office Alex had confidence in the film and his charm.

Eric Freemont was still doing negotiations with Cadence Industries Corporation and 'Lord of the Rings' rights were in the hands of  'United Artists'. Though it should have been bought by 'Saul Zaentz' Company in 1976. Another butterfly effect happened there.

Alex bought the LOTR and HOBBIT copyrights for $4.8 million. It was nothing compared to the future income it's gonna bring.
