Alex's nomination for best actor once again led to the discussion of whether he can get a nomination for Oscar. Alex had 80% assurance that he can get a nomination. Steven and Alex were using all of their connections and favours to get him a nomination. Alex was also striving to get best supporting actress Oscar nomination for Kim for "Tootsie" which missed golden globe nominations last date as it was released in November.
If possible Alex wants to give Kim the Oscar award, but Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) members normally choose the winners based on the past achievements and seniority. Not that there were young and inexperienced winners but those incidents don't happen often.
But Alex's and Steven's Jewish lineage may help as Jews hold a considerable power in the industry and Jews always stick together. Alex helped Jews in the time of recession and Jews hold that in high regard. Jewish history of suffering in the Worldwar II made them realize the value of unity.
But this award season going to be dominated by "Gandhi" and Alex have no complaints about that as he himself liked the movie. In previous life, "Gandhi" competed with "E.T." and swept away all main awards. Now "E.T." releases ahead and there was only " Empire of the Sun" in its path. Though "Empire of the Sun" was a good movie but "Gandhi" was the kind of film that the members of AMPAS favours.

Alex along with Kim and Drew went to shopping at "Fred Segal" store. For Alex and Kim after becoming the celebrities had become difficult to do shopping without surrounded by fans and paparazzi. "Fred Segal" was one of those stores where there was a celebrity section free from worries.
Alex was just browsing through the store while Kim and Alex were going on a spree. Alex was not one of those guys who make jokes about women's shopping. Most men expect women to be always attractive and be assholes about it. Alex was observing the women doing shopping and their personality based on their choice of clothing. Women made up 50% of the population and to make movies that they appreciate first we have to understand them.

Alex went to the end of the store and through the glass wall he can see the other end of the road. Alex saw the people celebrating Christmas everywhere and suddenly he saw a shop that piqued his interest.
It's a book store but its not a normal book store but Comic book store. There was nothing special about it, but it reminded Alex something he neglected. In the new millenium the comic book movies dominated the industry and "Marvel" comics were on top of their game.
It's 1982 and 'Superman' was the only superhero on the big screen, Marvel was still inferior compared to DC comics in popularity. It was the perfect time to buy the "Marvel". It looks like the fate gave him the perfect Christmas Day present.
It's going to be the first item of business he's going to take care tomorrow. But today is Christmas and his time belongs to his family. Eric Freemont, his financial advisor and investor would be going to have his hands full for the next few days.
Though Alex invested in several business it's all a means to end. But movies are his passion and 'Marvel' is going to play a major part in his future plans.

Kim's new release "Tootsie" and it already grossed $72 million. With successive hits Kim's salary per movie rose to $2 million which was pretty great considering this is the decade where still male actors get paid more compared to female actors.
