Chapter 019: Festival I

“Hajin, are you ready?” Oliver asked. He was wearing a black jacket, a white t-shirt, khaki pants, and black shoes. “Aria will be arriving soon!”

“Hold on, I am still changing.” Hajin shouted through his door.

“Are you nervous because you get to hang out with Mei?” Oliver teased.

“No … That’s not it … I just want to make sure my outfit looks good … You know.” Hajin said.

“Hurry they’ll be here soon.” Oliver said while checking his phone. He received a notification and smiled. “They are here now.”

“Oh no! Now, I am late! What will she think?” Hajin’s voice was shaking. “Is she going to be disappointed?”

“Just hurry.” Oliver laughed. He sat down on the couch and closed his eyes for a bit.

“Can you help your little brother and tell them you’re the reason they are waiting?” Hajin quickly came out of his room. He was wearing a dark blue yukata.

“Do I really want to lie?” Oliver opened his eyes and looked at Hajin. He smiled. “Fine, I’ll tell them it was because of me.”

“Thanks! You’re the best!” Hajin smiled. After a few seconds of silence, he spoke again. “Oliver, do you think I will ever be able to use Armor Ascension?”

“Everyone in Lunaria has the potential to use it. Yet most have never come close to being able to use it.” Oliver explained. “You can’t even detect Magic Power. Plus, your Magic control is quite poor. If you want to use Armor Ascension, you have your work cut out for you. It’ll not be an easy path. At your age, I could already detect Magic Power.”

“You know, I’ll just not use it. It sounds like too much work.” Hajin frowned. “I don’t want to put in that much work; I am not even that interested in Magic. I just think Armor Ascension looks cool.”

“Don’t worry, unlike ancient times, modern times don’t require people to know combat Magic to live peacefully.” Oliver teased. “For now, focus on having fun at the festival. Let’s go, we shouldn’t keep them waiting too long!”

‘Yeah!” Hajin followed Oliver out of the house. Hajin spotted a stealth gray SUV. He spotted Mei in the passenger seat. He smiled when his eyes met hers. “Mei!”

“Hey Hajin!” Mei smiled. She was wearing a pink yukata. “You’re finally out!”

“That was my fault. I took longer than expected.” Oliver said. He spotted Aria in the driver seat and smiled. Aria was wearing a tan coat, a white blouse, and black pants. His eyes lingered on Aria for a moment. “I am sorry about that.”

“No worries, Oliver.” Aria smiled. “I am just glad we can go to the festival together.”

“Of course, you would make us wait!” Mei glared at Oliver. “Not only are you a player, but now you make me wait. Hajin you sit in the middle and Oliver you sit right behind me. I don’t want you near my sister nor Nicole.”

“Calm down, Mei.” Aria said.

“No, he is playing with you and Nicole.” Mei crossed her arms. “Hajin, he might be your brother, but he is someone who plays with women’s feelings. Hop on you two.”

“Yes, ma’am!” Oliver teased and Mei glared at him again. Oliver followed Hajin to the car; After Hajin opened the door, Oliver and he saw Nicole in the back seat, behind Aria.

“Hello! So, you must be Oliver’s little brother.” Nicole smiled. She was wearing a red yukata. “Nice to meet you, Hajin. I am Nicole! Although we met last time, I don’t think that was an appropriate time for introductions.”

“Nice to meet you, Ms. Nicole!” Hajin smiled as he sat down.

“No need for the Miss, just Nicole is fine.” Nicole said. “Oliver, how have you been?”

“Not too bad.” Oliver smiled. His eyes scanned Nicole.

“Nicole, don't talk to that player. He is just playing with your heart.” Mei said.

“Aren’t you being a little too harsh on Oliver, Mei?” Nicole looked at Mei.

“No, I don’t believe I am.” Mei said. “He’ll hang out with you two during the festival. So, Mr. Oliver behave when Hajin and I go our separate ways from you guys! I know I’ll tell Yuri to keep an eye on you.”

“You know Yuri!?” Oliver asked as he closed the car door.

“Let’s go, everyone!” Aria said as she stepped on the pedal.

“I know everyone in Platoon 12.” Mei responded. “Mom always talks about you, but she never introduced us. She says how a great apprentice you are, but you’re not a nice guy. You are playing with Aria’s and Nicole’s feelings.”

“Maybe Jin-Woo will keep Yuri distracted.” Oliver smiled. “Afterall he is my friend.”

“You … How dare you try to use a sister’s love for her brother like that!” Mei looked behind her seat and glared at Oliver. “You’re sneaky.”

“Oliver, you’re supposed to be an adult.” Aria glanced at Oliver through the rear mirror.

“Fine, I’ll stop.” Oliver smiled; he placed his hands behind his head and closed his eyes; he could hear the conversations that Aria, Nicole, Mei, and Hajin were having. After 15 minutes, Oliver felt the car come to a stop; he opened his eyes; he looked around. “Popular just as every year.”

“Oliver, do you know where the others are?” Aria asked as she exited the car.

“Hold on. I’ll check in a bit.” Oliver said as he exited the car. He got his phone and looked at his messages. “Jin-Woo said they are by the statue of the hero.”

“I guess we’re having another date near the statue, Oliver.” Nicole smiled.

“No, we’re going to be in a group.” Aria glared at Nicole. “Besides, if he is going to have a date, it’s going to be with me.”

“Who was the first one to take him on a date?” Nicole asked.

“I have known Oliver for longer.” Aria said, approaching Nicole.

“Aria, my dear, you never made a move. You had the advantage and did nothing.” Nicole smiled. “I am just taking my shot at someone I find interesting.”

Aria was glaring at Nicole. Nicole continued smiling.

“Let’s get going Jin-Woo, Yuri, and Roger are waiting.” Oliver grabbed the hands of both young women and began walking towards the statue. Both blushed as they followed him.

“Hajin, you’re seeing this, right? Those two are idiots.” Mei just looked at the trio walking away. “Aria, me and Hajin will be meeting up with some of our friends.”

“Okay, have fun you two!’ Aria said.

“And Hajin take care of Mei.” Oliver said as he continued walking.

“Will do. Have fun with your friends!” Hajin said, before Me and he walked away.

Oliver continued leading Aria and Nicole for a couple of minutes until they arrived at the statue. Near the statue they spotted Jin-Woo, Yuri, and Roger.

“You guys took your sweet time.” Jin-Woo smiled after looking at the trio. He was wearing a black jacket, a white t-shirt, black pants, and red shoes. “Oh, I see what’s going on.”

“We’re going to have so much fun. I can’t wait to go to the many stands.” Yuri said. She was wearing a red hanbok. She opened the map she was holding. “I believe we should visit some of the food stands first.”

“Alright everyone from Platoon 12 is here. Time to get started.” Roger said as he raised his right fist. He was wearing a black yukata. “Yeah, let’s go and take a look at the food.”

“I am feeling something on the sweet side, how about dango?” Oliver suggested as he let go of Aria’s and Nicole’s hands.

“That sounds so delicious!” Yuri said with a big smile. “The dango remind me of Pias. Both are so cute.”

“Makes sense, both are round.” Aria said.

“I guess we have a starting point.” Jin-Woo said.

“Platoon 12 our mission for this evening is to have fun.” Roger said. “Let’s get out there and have fun.”

“Yes, sir!” Everyone said in unison.
