On a green open field, the gentle wind moved the blades of grass. The sound of the flowing river surrounded the area. A young man wearing black jeans, a white t-shirt, and black boots approached the river holding a rifle. His dark brown hair swayed with the gentle wind. His determined expression gave him an aura of confidence.
“I bet it’ll work this time” The young man said to himself. “I’ll show them the genius of Oliver Kim.”
Oliver aimed his rifle at a nearby tree about 200 meters away from him and then he began to feed it some Magical Energy. He pulled the trigger as sweat rolled down his face. Out of the rifle a blast of energy was expelled that quickly turned into a chunk of ice the size of a tennis ball. The chunk of ice traveled at high speeds and moments after appearing it had already hit the tree.
“IT WORKS!! MY ELEMENTAL GUN WORKS!!” Oliver was celebrating his success. “Now let me try feeding it another type of Elemental Magic. I’ll go with Electric Magic.”
Oliver once again took aim. He fed Magical Energy, but this time he used the Magical Energy as if casting Electric Magic. After a few moments he pulled the trigger, an electric blast came out of the rifle. After the electric blast came from the rifle, the rifle came apart and all sorts of pieces fell to the ground. After a few milliseconds the electric blast hit the tree and a burned mark was left on the tree.
“NOOOOOOOO!” Oliver had a shocked expression. “I guess I need materials that can resist any type of Elemental Magic. At least now I know that my theory of an Elemental Gun works. Maybe I can get some materials from Mrs. Hashimoto, I mean she is trying to build a spaceship capable of traveling to other worlds. And she needs top materials for that.”
As Oliver walked towards his motorcycle, he started to cycle Magical Energy throughout his body and a few moments later his whole body was covered in an aqua glow. Once the glow stopped, Oliver was now wearing a red armored body with a helmet. He grabbed his backpack from his motorcycle and stuffed the parts of the broken rifle. He then mounted his motorcycle and started driving. Driving through the open fields filled Oliver with joy. The sound of the motorcycle combined with the feeling of the wind made Oliver feel relaxed as he headed back towards the highway. Once on the highway, Oliver quickly left the green fields and headed north towards Sol City. After 30 minutes of riding his motorcycle, Oliver could see the big skyscrapers and the many commercial and residential buildings. After a few minutes of driving through the perimeter of Sol City, Oliver reached the military base located near the seaports. Upon reaching the security point, Oliver stopped and took out his I.D. card from his backpack.
“Good morning, Yolanda!” Oliver greeted the security guard at the security point.
“Hello, Oliver!” Yolanda greeted him. “I haven’t seen you lately.”
“I’ve been working on some new inventions at the facility at Redwood.” Oliver said. “Is Mrs. Hashimoto here today?”
“Yes, Ayano arrived here about an hour ago.” Yolanda replied. “Go right ahead. You know where to park. It was nice seeing you!”

“Thanks, Yolanda!” Oliver said before putting his ID back and riding towards the parking lot.
After parking his motorcycle, Oliver headed inside the base and went straight into the lab. Once inside the lab, Oliver spotted a short woman with short hair and a couple of gray hairs. The woman was wearing a white lab coat, a white shirt, and khaki pants. As soon as the woman saw Oliver, she smiled.
“Tell me about your new invention, Oliver.” Ayano said with an excited tone.
“It kind of worked.” Oliver replied. “I made the rifle to shoot Ice Magic and then made it shoot Electric Magic, but it broke down just as the electric blast left the rifle.”
“That’s impressive! Your prototype worked quite well!” Ayano said. “I am guessing you came here to ask me for better materials, right?”
“Yeah, I figure you would have better materials because of the Inter-World Spaceship.” Oliver said, scratching the back of his head with his right hand.
“I don’t have any materials to spare at the moment.” Ayano said. “But you can make a proposal to Kenta to give you some materials.”
“You mean I have to go to Colonel Miyamoto?” Oliver had a nervous expression. “He is scary. I get nervous being around him.”
“Then, I’ll come with you, Oliver!” Oliver could hear the voice of a petite black-haired woman that had just arrived at the lab. She was wearing a black t-shirt, khaki pants, and black boots.
“That would be great, Aria! Thanks!” Oliver’s happiness was evident from his tone.
“Mom, I’ll be back later!” Aria said.
“Do you know if your sister ate her breakfast?” Ayano asked.
“Yeah, Mei ate before heading to school.” Aria answered. “Let’s go, Oliver.”
“Okay!” Oliver said, smiling.
Aria took Oliver’s hand, and they started walking towards Colonel Miyamoto’s office with Aria leading Oliver. While they were talking Oliver’s heart started beating faster as he thought about how beautiful Aria looked in her military uniform. Her hand was so soft, and he wanted to keep holding her hand forever. He felt so lucky to have Aria by his side; he didn’t know what he would do if he never had met her; He knew he had won the lottery when he became Ayano’s apprentice. The personnel in the base were looking at Aria and Oliver as they walked past them. Oliver nervously smiled at some of them. After a couple of minutes, they arrived at Colonel Kenta’s office and Aria opened the door. An imposing man with black hair was sitting on a chair behind a desk.
“Oh, it’s you Aria and … Oliver.” Kenta said upon seeing the couple. “What brings you two here?”
“Oliver has something to ask you, Mr. Kenta!” Aria said as she shoved Oliver forward.
“Well, I succeeded … on my prototype of an Elemental Gun works, but I need better materials.” Oliver said in a low voice.
“I can’t hear you, so raise your voice, young man!!” Kenta yelled at Oliver.
“Yes, sir!!” Oliver responded. “The prototype for an Elemental Gun worked for two shots and then it broke, so can I get better materials to continue working on it?”
“Much better, Oliver!” Kenta said. “So that is the invention Ayano mentioned a couple of weeks ago. That sounds like a useful invention for us, but I can’t just approve any good idea that comes to my desk.”
“Sir, please!” Aria pleaded.
“Fine, I’ll give you an opportunity because Ayano is your mentor.” Kenta said, looking at Oliver. “A week from today there will be a mission to go to the third moon of Lunaria, Muna. I will send you to that mission and if you perform well, I’ll have the perfect justification to approve the funding for your materials.”
“Thank you, Colonel Miyamoto!” Oliver had an expression full of joy. “I won’t let you down!”
“One of the soldiers in the platoon had an emergency, so you’re also going, Aria.” Kenta said, looking at Aria. “Since you came knocking on my door, I’ll make good use of you!”
“You owe me one, Oliver!” Aria said with a playful tone. “If you’re going, I should have a good time on this mission!”
“The specifics of this mission will be delivered to you guys later.” Kenta said. “I first have to add your names to the list of participants and then you should get the briefing by the end of the day tomorrow.”
“Yes, sir!” Oliver and Aria said in unison as they saluted.
