Well actually Mcgonagall actually did assign homework but since it was literally just to play this nifty game Nick came up with to familiarize themselves with transfiguration it didn't really count. Most of the students had planned to try it out themselves anyways since it seemed pretty fun , much like wizards chess. "Mr. Iron if you would please stay after class I have something to discuss with you." Mcgonagall said while everyone was packing up making his friends worried he was in trouble. "I assure you that he is not in trouble , In fact this is likely a very good thing for Mr. Iron." The professor said reassuringly after seeing Nicks friends preparing to defend him.-
Tracy , Daphne , Ron and Harry all relaxed hearing this and Nick told them to go on ahead and he'd catch up with them later. Once alone Mcgonagall spoke to Nick again "I will be forthright with you Mr. Iron , I do not believe my normal lessons with be of any benefit to you." She sighed "Transfiguration is a complex and demanding art in even the simplest things yet to you it is almost like breathing , you do it instinctually. Normally I might consider if you may in fact be a metamorphagus much like a previous student of mine with similar talents in the field."-
"However beyond your undeniable talent you show no outward signs of the ability at all , not even a single one. This leaves me at a loss as to what to do with you in class." Mcgonagall said honestly. Nick was aware that he wasn't a metamorphagus as he had tested that once he learned he had bloodline abilities at the orphanage. He was slightly surprised to hear that the supreme transfiguration talent from his wand was almost the same as that of the abilities however in the art.-
'It does make sense though if you consider what was known about the ability. Nymphadora Tonks was never shown to need effort to transform , she simply did.' Nick thought calmly. "I am afraid this will need to be discussed with Albus in order to proceed." The professor said seriously and Nick immediately snapped out of his thoughts and focused on the teacher with an intensity that startled her slightly though she hid it well. "I'm afraid I don't understand how this requires his attention , could you please clarify?" he said while trying not to seem anxious , he failed.-
Stolen story; please report.
"Is there a reason why you seem so averse to Albus?" Mcgonagall asked sternly. Nick shifted in place under her hard gaze nervously "You haven't likely thought of it before but if he ever decided to do something who could actually stop him? No one could. Can you even fathom what being put in front of such a being would be like for someone like me? To have a single person look at me and decide my fate in an instant and there's not a bloody thing I could do about it!" Nick said venting his frustrations.-
Dumbledore had been like a boot hovering over Nicks head since he found himself in this world and even if he never showed it that fact terrifies him. Mcgonagall was taken back by his words but truly thought about it and couldn't help but agree with the point he had made. In the face of someone like Albus a weak child like Nick must feel like he was being judged by a deity , kind or otherwise was irrelevant. She herself had once felt that kind of powerlessness in the face of Voldemort and so understood how dreadful it was.-
She sighed "While I could try and offer reassurance of Albus's kind nature you are not wrong to feel the way you do. So here is what I'll do , you will not need to be present when I have my discussion with him about your education if you would prefer." she said warmly in an attempt to calm him down. Nick visibly relaxed as he sighed in relief "That would be for the best I suppose." he said honestly. this meeting came to an end after that and Mcgonagall could only watch him leave with a conflicted expression.-
Nick sighed as he left 'There's no way the old man won't learn of this , but it was bound to happen eventually. I understand the guy has the best intentions but the fact remains that I amount to little more than an insect he could crush with but a thought. Until I can have some form of protection from the man I want to stay as far from him as possible.' he thought seriously and then forcefully cheered himself up before heading to meet up with his friends as they didn't need to know about his problems.
