The next few days the students of the schools rode the high of the selection while the champions themselves got lots of attention from the opposite sex that wanted to leech off of their new images. Nick went to divination like normal and focused his time on crafting the chambers that had been preordered as well as copying the books in the library. The funny part was despite the spells on the books to keep people from copying them using magic there wasn't actually any rule against actually copying the books.-
Madam Pince however looked far more pissed than normal after she figured out that he was doing it though. Not that he could blame her considering that she was the caretaker of the books and he was basically stealing her library one book at a time. Still since he was not actually breaking any rules she could only glare at him as he worked. As Harry had shared the first task was set for November twenty fourth which was in roughly three weeks give or take a day or two. The news event and weighing of the wands happened the day after the champions were chosen.-
It was embarrassing for the champions as they got Rita as the reporter on the matter so the interviews were closer to a smear piece then the truth. Nick quite enjoyed the event as he got to invite Olivander to his workshop and even had a nice long conversation on the advances Nick had made in wand crafting. The old man gave his own critics and had plenty of questions about the processes Nick used and thoughts behind them as he sampled some of Nicks works. He was most interested in the failed but functional elemental salt cored wands.-
Olivander showed why he was the best wand maker in the world when he easily figured out a solution to the problem of the salts being too powerful for the wood to handle. It was an obvious solution when Nick thought about it but could understand that that was why he hadn't to begin with. He tended to try and overcomplicate things when sometimes simplicity was key. In the case of the salt wands the wood used should come from trees that while normally not used for wands would be perfect for the salts to be the core of due to the wood growing in the elemental mana rich area for whatever type of salt he used.-

For example mountain ash trees or old firs would be more tolerant of frost salts due to growing in areas constantly covered by snow and frost. There was a species of fern in Hawaii that lived on volcanos that would be perfect for fire salts but was almost unheard of for being used in wands due to it's stubborn nature that refused to make exceptions for those it chose. As thanks for the help Nick gave Olivander some elemental salts to use for his own wand crafting experiments.-
The old man had tried to get the secret to the superior growth rate and efficiency that Nicks wands had but failed. Daedric runes were a secret Nick kept close to his chest and shared with almost no one and thus wasn't going to share it with Olivander. Speaking of sharing secrets Lucas had finally managed to memorize the things Nick had him working on which showed that while he was definitely not that talented he could still make up for it with effort. As a reward Nick had started his vampiric assistant on actually making things with his knowledge.-
He started Lucas out on simple iron and steel work for now so the man could get comfortable with the rough process that most metal work followed. The vampire was also on a strict magical regiment that was designed by Nick to fully utilize both his vampiric powers and wizarding magic to their fullest. Lucas complained about how over worked he was as a result but also admitted that he could see the improvement it gave him so didn't resist too much. A funny thing recently was that Krum had got too see Nazguls full size while he was practicing on his broom.-
She had spotted him in the air on her way back from hunting acromantulas in the forest and forgot to shrink as she eagerly flew over to him. More than a few of the students from Durmstrang and Beauxbatons that were outside at the time thought he was a goner only to find out the Nazgul was just looking to get some scratches. Krum had a hilarious face as he sat there on the cold ground with Nazguls head on his lap as she enjoyed getting scratched. Basically a normal time at Hogwarts all around.
