With a "POP!" Nick and Lucas arrived on the island with Dotty and both sighed in relief at their narrow escape. As the only royal vampire ever born Minas abilities were largely unknown beyond a few of her bloodline ones so Nick wasn't entirely sure if she had noticed his uniqueness and thus wanted him to become a vampire. While he didn't think his race was the most unique to exist in all of the multiverse Nick was aware that it was if nothing else rather special. It had to be stated that at this point in time he had the magical ability of this worlds wizards.-
The body and soul of an elf and a celestial bird as well as the essence of a daedra from yet another world. His very existence was a strange fusion of three worlds at the moment and he had no clue if that number may go up in the future. 'While vampires aren't a terrible option for most wizards to become the same doesn't apply to me.' Nick thought as he released his disguise taking his true form once again. "You can go about your normal work now , I need to get started on the communication device." Nick said to Lucas who nodded and walked off.-
Dotty had already left immediately after dropping them off as like any good house elf they had adapted to the normal way their master operated. Nick rarely had extra work for Dotty after the task was done so the house elf stopped waiting for more orders and merely waited until it was called again. Nick had an idea as to how he would set up the communication devices but he needed a few things first to start. The first was the bonded connection enchantments that the vanishing cabinets used to bypass wards or secrecy charms.-
He obviously wasn't going to give the vampire royals a method to find and invade his island like the cabinets would but the connection enchantment would allow him to send and receive messages to the connected item. The second thing Nick needed was to master and modify the protean charm. The original form of the spell was to bind multiple similar objects together so that any change on one was reflected on the others. This made it easy for the charm to allow for the passing of secret messages.-
Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.
Nick wanted to modify the charm slightly so that there were "subsections" of it that allowed him to receive multiple orders at once without them interfering with each other or vanishing when a new one comes in. Thankfully this was less changing the way the spell works and more expanding it's preexisting functions. Such modifications were where Nick exceled as it usually only took an extra word to achieve. The final thing Nick required was a few very special mirrors that had been alchemically treated with a few innate effects. Specifically durability , self repair and enchantment potential.-
With these thing obtained Nick could create two way transmission mirrors that stored messages and sent them as well that would allow his deal with the royals to proceed smoothly. Nick was able to take care of two of these things easily enough on his own as the protean charm was an advanced N.E.W.T level spell and thus well within his skill to learn quickly. The second thing he could solve was the bonded connection enchantment of the vanishing cabinets as he happened to know where two fully functional models existed. The first was in Hogwarts in the room of requirement after peeves broke it and the second was in Borgin and Burkes.-
Nick only needed a single working cabinet to study the enchantment on so he summoned Dotty and had it go and purchase the cabinet from old man Burke. The man thought he was ripping Nick off with his price but Dotty paid the sum asked for before bringing the cabinet to the island. 'A hundred and twenty galleons for the chance to figure out how to create vanishing cabinets myself is such a steal!' Nick thought with a chuckle as he set the cabinet in the realm for analysis.-
The biggest problem Nick had now though was getting the alchemically treated mirrors as he didn't trust most of the english alchemists with such a thing. The level of teaching in Hogwarts on the subject was woefully lacking as you could only start learning it in the sixth year and had really high grades in several classes. That didn't even begin to cover that the class only was available if enough students showed interest in it. Unlike Nick others didn't have the system that gave him all the books on a topic he could ever want so self study didn't tend to work out with others.
