The group chatted about themselves quietly as they waited for the first step of the potion to finish. Nick explained about his amnesia and how he didn't actually care if he actually was a muggleborn or not which is why he had chosen not to take the Gringotts test. "You aren't even a little curious , for all you know you could be the long lost descendant of merlin or something." Tracy said not understanding his thinking. Nick shrugged "It's simply no fun to just have everything given to you because of your bloodline. I'd rather earn it all with my own effort and become the next merlin instead." he said proudly.-
"Oh? Rather lofty goal you have there don't you think?" Daphne asked having become more comfortable around him. "Not at all , the way I see it I have the rest of my life to reach that point so I have plenty of time , assuming I don't get done it early of course." Nick said with a confident smile. They chatted a bit more about themselves and Nick learned about the blood malediction that had been cast on the Greengrass family four hundred years ago that they have been searching for a cure of this whole time.-
This reminded Nick of the "ancient" section of the library that may in fact contain books on that exact topic if he were to look hard enough. He very much doubted that a spell used four hundred years ago wouldn't be found within the thousand year old library. If anything the spell might have been found in the library by the person who used it. 'If it comes down to it I could just make her a ring that cleanses evil magic from the body. Hopefully i'll be able to reach the skill needed to do so by christmas.' Nick thought while still holding the conversation.
Tracy turned out to be in the pitiful position of her family being sworn to serve Daphne's and as a result they had grown up together and were best friends. She wasn't angry at this situation since it honestly made little difference to her since she was friends with Daphne. The conversation needed to be cut short however when Nick noticed a subtle change in the coloration of the potion and moved on to the next step of brewing it , adding 4 horned slugs.-

He stirred the potion once hard to get the mixture nice and even before removing the cauldron from the fire and adding the porcupine quills to the cauldron with a gap of two seconds between each. He then stirred the now dark blue mixture counterclockwise 5 times with each lightening the color slightly until the final potion was plain blue. He waved his wand over the potion to seal in the remnant magic causing pink smoke to rise from the cauldron signifying a successfully brewed potion. Snape also noticed this since he had been keeping an eye on Nick after he showed promise.-
The two Slytherin girls were nervous seeing Snape walk over to their table but were left with gaping mouths when he smelled the smoke and a ghost of a smile appeared on his face. "An acceptable potion , five points to Gryffindor and Slytherin each." The man said before leaving their table while every other student gaped at their table. Not only had they completed the potion first but even Snape was impressed enough to give Gryffindor points. Hermione was practically steaming mad that she had been outdone and urged Harry and Ron to hurry up.-
Unlike in the book Neville didn't make the mistake of leaving the potion on the fire before adding the porcupine quills so he managed to create a barely passing potion. Soon enough the class came to an end with those who failed to brew a passing potion needing to write an essay on the potion as homework. Those who did create passing potions were allowed to take a bottle of their own brewed potion with them. The rest was all mixed together by Snape and then donated to the hospital wing as reserves. This was actually pretty smart on the schools part as it taught the students and prepared it to treat the pimple hex's that always showed up.-
The entire class had Herbology next till 11 which was lunch time and then they had to come back to herbology till 2. After that it was a free period until dinner which was like all meals , optional at Hogwarts. Nick no sooner left the potions classroom with Daphne and Tracy then Ron showed up with Harry and weirdly enough Hermione who definitely didn't belong in the group yet. "How can you sit with these bloody snakes!?" Ron asked angrily.
