Politics

He left his newly formed mindscape in a daze and needed a few moments to sort of reboot mentally (ironic) and check the time. Ten minutes till six which meant that it was time to head over to the great hall for dinner. It should be noted that ever since the dinner where Dumbledore had announced the escape of Grindelwald the man in question had simply not shown up at all anywhere for some reason. It made the entire wizarding world nervous as they all assumed that he had some horrible plan in mind and was waiting for the perfect moment to spring it.-

Nick had a different theory however that the old dark lord was focusing on restoring his previous power after having been stagnant for the last fifty years. This was what Nick would do in that same position as it would be rather foolish to make a spectacle when weak. This actually reminded Nick of a rather large headache he had been putting off since his bloodline was revealed. He had gotten no less then twenty marriage proposals from various pureblood families that he had been ignoring. He barely understood the politics behind the things and as a result hadn't sent any reply's at all.-

The most awkward one however belonged to none other than house Greengrass and basically all but offered him the world in exchange for marrying into that family. Daphne insisted that it wasn't her idea and he believed her due to how horrified she looked when he showed her. Marriage between friends wasn't uncommon but the fact was that neither of them was actually interested in the other party in that regard. Though that may be more to do with them being eleven than anything else.-

Nonetheless it made things rather tense between Daphne and her family as they hadn't withdrawn the proposal even after she confronted them. Ron's family however had instead sent him congratulations and even a thank you note for being friends with Ron. Nick couldn't help but be a little jealous of his red headed friend as it was clear that his family truly cared even if they couldn't show it in any monetary way. Speaking of money , Gringotts had started to send Nick letters with information on all the properties and debts that the Ravenclaw family was owed as well as the vault balance.-

Surprisingly there was a few properties that belonged to the Ravenclaw family still standing or being occupied by others due to the lack of known owners till now. Exactly four , to be precise two castles , one forest and an entire island that had been unaccounted for till now. Despite the family having been basically long considered dead the businesses who owed the Ravenclaw household money had paid up until they went out of business for whatever reason so there was a crazy amount of money sitting in the vault. Like "I burn money to stay warm at night" sort of money , it was rather overwhelming really.-

By far the worst part about the public nature of the reveal (which he got Snape back for thanks to the twins) was that the entire british wizarding community was scrabbling to get his favor. Nick had gotten letters from even the Minister of magic Cornelius Fudge himself seeking the massive politic clout that an heir to a Hogwarts founder had so long as they didn't do something to ruin it. This had actually been the reason the gaunt family was so destitute before a certain person killed off all the others.-

The family was notoriously high handed and well known to delve in the dark arts freely. Basically they simply had no one willing to associate with them and as a result of their pureblood mindset couldn't find enough suitable spouses to continue the bloodline. The Hufflepuff bloodline was still around though in the form of the smith family who had a lot of descendants. Nick had gotten a few letters from that family on account of the two founders being good friends long ago. Not even political letters either just casual chatting type things where the head of the house was checking to see if he was healthy or needed anything.-

Nick actually laughed at this as it fit with the friendly and caring image of the Hufflepuff house he was familiar with. He could only sigh at all this however as he was at the center of this massive political shitstorm. His every move was measured and careful so he didn't accidentally become a social pariah for seemingly no reason. The fame hadn't been all political bad news however as he actually had enough sway to blow the direction of the wizarding world ever so slightly , an example of this was how his retaliation against Dumbledore had cost the man one of his titles and a good chunk of political pull along with it since what he did while not illegal was very much frowned upon.
