99. Goblins , Gabalins, Grublins

99. Goblins , Gabalins, Grublins

Twenty kilometer away from Barahamil Annex IX Fortress, a school had been erected to cater the growing need of cultivators in resisting beast tides and the Kulfagar Demon Army. This morning, a new batch of recruits arrived and at least less than 150 children formed three lines as they waited for their turns to be registered. A few of these children have backgrounds and are hoping their backgrounds will help influence the officer in charge allocate them better dormitories and resources.

“Name?”

“Okta Vius of Norkata. The city lord is my uncle.”

“Your uncle can’t help you here, lad. If you don’t work hard, this room will be given to someone else.”

“Next!”

A thin timid girl stepped forward.

“Lesha Negan”

“You have quite the potential but having potential is not enough here.”

The officer on the desk used a different quill to write the name of the girl on a seemingly ordinary white paper but as soon as the officer finished writing, the letters shined and floated. At the same time, the surface of the table emitted a dazzling light which seem to restrain the floating letters. The officiating officer then used his aura to surround the letters.

Slowly, the letters became smaller and slower and after a quarter of a minute, it transformed into a tiny droplet. The officer then summoned a white rounded pearl earring half the size of a centimeter and fused the two.

“Drop it with your blood and remove your earrings. This will be your identity. When you get stronger, you’ll get the other piece.” Said the officer as he handed the piece of earring to the girl.

The officer in charge was about to call out the next person however he noticed a guard rushing towards his spot. The officer stood up as the guard looks like he has something important to deliver.

“It’s a message from the Head.” The guard immediately handed an envelope as soon as he arrived.

The officer opened the letter and read its contents.

After a few seconds, he used his Qi to burn the paper and shouted, “To that person bearing the name of Endremilas, step forward.”

The crowd was shocked with the sudden outburst of loud instruction. After a few moments, nobody answer and all the children in line looked around wondering who is being called.

“Is there a person here by the name of Clay Enashta Endremilas. Raise your hand or step forward!”

The officer shouted again.

Meanwhile, Clay obidiently stood on his spot while carefully observing his surroundings. He felt exausted after a month of continuous travel. He does not know which corner of the world have they travelled to but on the 28th day, he finally started to feel the existence of Spiritual Qi. After two more days in a carriage, they have finally arrived to their destination.

Similar to a sect or cultivation schools he encountered in his previous life, the abundance of Spiritual Qi felt endless.

Clay tried to focus on absorbing Qi but no matter how much he concentrated, his dantian remains unresponsive. While thinking of another way, his thoughts were disturbed when he heard someone called his name.

Clay did not speak and only raised his hand which then caught the attention of the officiating officer.

“You heard me call your name and make me repeat myself, are you deaf?” The officer walked towards Clay.

Clay was calm and did not show any agitation as he watched the officer approached him.

“Show me your insignia.”

Clay still remained unperturbed and removed his necklace and handed it over. He did not talk and only stared at the officer ignoring that domineering presence.

The officer grabbed the necklace and carefully inspected it. He is surprised that the kid before him does not show fear despite his aura as a Foundation Establishment cultivator. He felt like being stared like a harmless rabbit he is tempted to release his murderous intent and pressure the boy.

“You’re an odd little one for an Endremilas. Follow me and maintain that silence of yours.”

Clay almost laughed when the officer wanted to pressure him. Having been threatened and played by Divinity experts in his past lives, he felt like the officer is like a little worm trying to show off. Out of nowhere, he suddenly have this desire to squish the officer and compress him into pulps.

Clay followed unhesitantly. While he may not know what is going on, he can only guess it is a sequel of whatever political move his father did.

It did not take long until they reached the second floor of 100-meter long building. The officer gently opened the door of one of the small auditorium classroom where a group of fifteen students is currently having a lecture.

Clay could already guessed that his background earned him a privilege to be trained or tutored like a personal disciple and he reckons the teacher doing the lecture should be the unlucky person the arrow pointed to.

Seeing that the teacher was in the middle of lecture, the officer sat at the back and instructed Clay to do the same to wait.

(Now this is an example of Gabalins. This beast specifically has three beast cores and two of which are Mana-based and the third one is Qi-based. The easiest way to identify them is through their color which ranges from light green to bluish green. As for some monsters with greater number of beast cores, there is no need to count their cores as their color will always be green.

Now moving on to the second type, Goblins. They are the most dangerous types with their skin colors ranging from light brown to dark brown. Although it is very rare to see one, if for some magical reason you spotted one, if possible, combine four talismans from any of you to form a Leaflet Distress Communicator to notify the nearest strongest Mage or Cultivator but I suggest you immediately activate your individual communication talismans instead regardless your circumstances.

Remember, don’t ever attempt to fight anything that has brown or green color when you are alone.

Now as for the last one, we call them Grublins, the opposite of Gabalins and this is where you come in. Even a low level Grublins is a threat of 5TH-Circle Mage if they are not careful.

For the other two, it’s best to make a tactical retreat until you have mage to help you out but if you see a monster with an skin color ranging from light red to dark red, it is your responsibility to take care and subdue that monster at all cost no matter what.)

Clay did not know whether he laugh or celebrate he caught his soon-to-be teacher in the middle of a lecture. Now that he is taking the path of cultivation once more, the information he is hearing today is what he needed most. Clay felt he was part of the class as he listens and view the image projected by the teacher.

(Teacher Nadan, is it true that some of these beast are intelligent and have their own individuality? How come we can’t make a truce with them and help us fight the Kulfagar Demons?)

(In an ideal world, that’s how it should be.Unfortunately these beasts sin just by existing. In the next seven days you will have a first hand experience and witness how nearby beasts are corrupted and go beserk just by staying near a Grublin.

We will let you experience what it’s like so that when you encounter one in the future, you will kill them with resolve and devoid of the slightest hesitation.

That’s for all today. Get some rest. Tomorrow we’ll have a practice for your first real mission. Dismissed!)

Clay almost stood up to convince the teacher Nadan to continue more of the lecture but seeing the group of unintersted students, he zipped his mouth and patted his own head.

When all the students left, the teacher looked at them and walked towards their seat.

“I want to start with the good news if there is?”

The officer who brought Clay stood up and openly stretched his hand as if he had been bored to death with the earlier lecture.

“The good news is, there is only one bad news.”

“Let me guess. They want me take this kid under my wing? Because I’m sure you know I won’t.”

“Quite close but no. We need your personal disciple, Khor to give up his spot to accommodate a direct descendant of a City Lord.”

“You want my personal student who is on a critical juncture of breaking through for a dead traditional which even the Head himself won’t implement, is that what you’re saying?” scoffed the teacher.

“No, not this time. The Head is enroute with an Elder Manaar who likes traditions. While there is zero chance our guest will look into our affairs, the Head doesn’t like to take chances.”

“Can’t we just arrange him a different spot. It’s not like…”

“It’s just for six days until the inspection on the barrier is over. If your student doesn’t vacate in two hours, I apologize for my rudeness in advance.” The officer turned around and left the room.

Clay originally thought he would be greeting his master but his speculation was just proven wrong. He heard about this “spot” when three cultivators came to pick him up a month ago.He has no plans on attracting anyone’s attention let alone taking someone’s whatever spot yet trouble seem to welcome him on his first day. He kneeled with forehead on the floor and said, “I beg this revered master to forgive this young one’s transgression. I am unfit to become a cultivator and would gladly surrender all my resources to your disciple.”

Left with no options, swallowing his pride and kneeling is a good trade if it means avoiding troublesome characters. He did not dare raise his head and hoping not to further incur the teacher’s wrath.

The teacher was surprised by Clay’s honesty but unfortunately it does not help the situation. If this was another day, giving up his disciple’s spot is not an issue but his disciple just got into seclusion to attempt and breakthrough to Peak Late Qi Condensation.

After a few seconds, he made up his mind and said, “Stand up and follow me.”

Clay waited for the teacher to take a few step before composing himself and followed closely from behind.

As soon as he reached outside the building, he felt his entire body had been wrap by an aura then slowly floated. The aura came from the teacher who is not far from him as they both flew together. Clay was surprised and observed every mountain they passed by.

After less than five minutes, the teacher descended and landed on a hillside. With a few strokes of his hand, a dome-shaped Formation has been removed revealing an isolated house made of wood.

“Come”

The two of them walked towards the house. Clay looked around and judging from the amount of Qi gathered in the area, he estimates it is ten times better than that of the dormitories where he should have been placed.

When they reached the house, the teacher took out a talisman from his spatial then and activated to undo another layer of Formation protecting the house.

“Come out, Khor! I know you can hear me.”

The door slowly opened revealing a tall and handsome adolescent teen.

“Your questions will come later. For now, surrender your token to this boy.”

Khor took out a four inches rectangular token and handed it Clay then stepped outside.

“As for you, read this book and take one pill each time you open your meridians. Stay here for now and don’t worry about anything. Someone will bring you food later this afternoon, do you understand.”

“I understand esteemed master.”

Clay received the bottle of pills and the book as he watched the two leave. He wanted to enter the house as soon possibe and rest but he wants to make sure the two cannot be seen first as to not create an image of being impolite.

When they were at least twenty meters away, the teenage boy stopped his tracks and looked at Clay then turned around again.

“Good lord!”

Clay cursed inwardly. That teenage boy earlier who released his killing intent.
