71. War and Assassinations

When the first bolt of lightning was released, Re'y levitated and using all his might, he created his own Qi Projection imbued with his Sword Dao and in a form of a gigantic fist to intercept the incoming lightning.

BOOM!

Deafening sounds echoed throughout the area as the first lightning tribulation was deflected. A portion of the deflected energy managed to arch and landed and charred the nearby trees in an instant.

Clay silently observed. He wanted to move but he will reserve his strength as his cultivation has not yet fully stabilized.

Watching that first bolt of lightning, he remembered the logs of Avur, one of this village’s Patriarchs from thousands of years ago. Accordingly, the first descent of lightning will warn the ascending cultivator how powerful and devastating the succeeding nine consecutive lightning bolts happening in the next five minutes, then after around ten minutes, it will be followed by seven weaker lightning tribulations with three minute intervals and those seven would the most important step as the cultivator must use it to refine his body and meridians and baptize his soul.

Clay had not found any other sensible answer why a cultivator must go through the tribulation but one thing is certain. If that cultivator avoids it, their advancement will fail and worst, their dantian breaks apart.

Clay watched the two Nascent elders from Kra’ing Sect. They can technically deflect the tribulations but if their junior is unconscious, then it will be very risky.

“Help him circulate. I’ll deflect the succeeding tribulations.”

The Patriarch instructed Raata but just before he finished his sentence, he saw huge dark flame ball coming from above and reached them in a blink of an eye.

Right before flame ball reached them, Raata's life saving treasure activated creating a shield above.

BOOM!

The two went offensive however before Raata could summon his sword, a grotesque zombie appeared behind him.

Raata instinctively concentrated his strength to form a barrier around his head and chest but when he thought the zombie would go after his vital spots, he felt something grabbed his left leg and when he looked down to his side, a drooling zombie has already made a bite to his calf.

Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

Arggghhh!

Raata raised his sword and pierce the head of the zombie and without any hesitation, he cut off his left leg to prevent the deadly poison from spreading and clenched his teeth then used his Qi to stop the bleeding.

"Did you like my present?" A cold murderous voice echoed from above as a Mid Nascent Soul expert clad in velvet robes finally revealed himself and is getting ready to attack again.

"This place has been sealed and if both of you surrender yourselves . . . .A Arrggh"

Before the guest finished his sentence, he felt his body restricted and immobilized. His eyes moved in horror and looked into the direction of the aura suppressing him is coming from. He wanted to escape but he could not even circulate his Qi. His last thought was an image of a hairy horned ape-like devil looking at him like an insect.

Clay had been observing from the side who would have thought that in the midst of the confusion he caused that someone with malicious intent had infiltrated the area. Had he been the target, he probably had been heavily injured if not dead.

It is impressive how this enemy had camouflaged himself and took advantage when their attention is fixated on the tribulation.

“I will deflect the incoming tribulations for your junior." Seeing the petrified and disoriented Nascent Elders, Clay spoke. Even if he did not have good impression on their sect, he still owes their junior his life.

"I am Ingra, current patriarch of Kra'ing Sect. I am indebted to this benevolent master." Ingra immediately lowered his weapon and saluted with his fist before sitting in front of Ne'i. He is truly grateful they have not acted in greed. The temptation to covet the Spiritual Vein was massive even he as a faction leader heeded the distress signal sent by their disciple.

That Nascent expert who just launched a sneak attacked on them would require their combined efforts yet that man was killed like it was a fly. Those Qi projections just now sent shivers to his bone.

After a few minutes, Clay deflected the rest of incoming deadly tribulations then retracted his Qi when the beneficial tribulations started descending.

With Ingra acting as cushion and Raata guiding their juniors Qi circulation, Ne’i finally broke through to Nascent Level.

"Come find me before you leave" Clay whispered before flying back his residence.

Clay contemplated on what just happened. He finds it fascinating that a Nascent expert would show up within the vast lands of attenuated Qi.

When Ver’a said that Kra'ing Sect is at war, he did not expect it to be at this extent.

The plan was to build a sanctuary that will filter reincarnates and he had been pondering if this village can do it but since Kra'ing Sect showed up, he will involve them in his plan and the perfect opportunity revealed itself as well.

If he moves to exterminate this sect’s archenemies, they will make him owe a favor.

The cultivation world is scheming at every corner and it should be his time to show his powers. He does not expect this Sect to continue implementing his plans and vision, but this should give ample time for another faction to flourish.

He will establish the most powerful sect with the help of Re'y.
