80. Tales of Demon and Cats
Clay is walking on the sidewalk made of marbles beneath a properly lined Oak Trees while holding a rounded ball of dirt. He is carrying a extensively modified Spiritual Vein Model made from a clueless duck that passed by him earlier at the lake. Earlier, he pretended he was meditating when in fact his Qi Projections were extended and extracted the circulation circuit of a duck with solid Beast Core.
The path he is currently taking is dedicated for the laborers of the school and he chose to exit on this area to avoid being seen by fellow students. Like a normal kid, he would purposely step on a few scattered sinuate dried leaves creating a crisp sound.
When he approached the gate, the guards only took a glance since their scanners did not produce any alarm. They did not even bother asking what he was holding. The electronic wrist badge on his hand automatically sent a signal to his driver to pick him up.
He pretended to play with the mud he was holding. After around five minutes, his ride finally showed up. Clay did not wait for the driver to open the door and enter the car himself and sat on the front row.
“I wonder where this young master is headed to?”
“To the dormitory, please.”
When the car started, the driver asked him a question attempting to engage him to a small talk
“Isn’t this young master going to participate on this week’s selection?”
Clay would rather choose uncomfortable silence. He wanted to act like a kid and ignore him but he suddenly got curious.
“If this kind sir can elaborate?”
“This time of the year every two years, a few masters from the alliance would visit and conduct tests for anyone who wishes to join their ranks and they would prioritize young ones like you, young master.”
“Thank you for explaining it to me.”
He could already understand what his driver is saying which explains their practical lessons earlier. Usually a class would start with an uninteresting discussion yet they immediately started with training.
“Your aunt is not really allowed to stay with you so I dropped them off at the train station earlier this morning and I am afraid you won’t have company at the house today.
Seeing Clay did not respond, the driver attempted to talk to him again.
“The maids will only show up in the evening and will leave right after they clean. Should I go ahead drop you back to the school?”
“I want to rest.”
Seeing Clay did not want to speak anymore, the driver remained silent as well. Within a few minutes, they arrived in front of the residence.
When Clay got off the car, he grabbed a knife and went to the living room where a bonsai with bewitching leaves was displayed at a corner. During his past life, he could easily chip rocks to preserve the Spiritual Vein Model but his strength now is almost negligible. There are a few plants outside the house but what he needs is a branch enough to lay the circulation circuit.
Clay could not distinguish whether it is a trunk or a branch of a tree but it has thickness the same as an adult’s thigh. He reinforced the knife with his Qi and cut the branches completely wasting a decoration worth a thousand crones. If he did not have his cultivation, the wood would probably remain unscathed even after a day of cutting it with a knife.
After a few minutes, Clay removed the dirt covering the circulation circuit of the duck and transferred it into the wood he painstakingly designed. Instead of nails, he used wood and inserted them on the holes he made to connect the two halves finally securing the Psuedo Spiritual Vein Model in place.

Clay did not stop there. He went to the backyard where the mini-pond was located and dug an area at the edge of the water then activated his Godly Eyes to confirm the Vein Model is releasing the unknown energy before covering it with stones. He is confident no one would discover it anything as the Qi within the residential area is abundantly enough to support Qi Condensation practitioners.
For the final part, he collected at least twenty Common Natu herbs, each bearing three to five fruits and transplanted them around the pond. He felt exhausted having relied to his Qi for more than an hour. When all was done, he went to the living room and meditated.
Evening quickly arrived and a maid showed up.
“I am a maid assigned tonight. I wonder if this young master has made his choice.”
Clay looked at hear quizzically and thought, “When was I offered a menu?”
Seeing Clay was clueless, the maid pressed a button on her wrist badge and a wall in the living room came alive revealing a large television. On an empty space not far from him, a dark metallic desk materialized. The maid walked towards the table and picked up an electronic tablet underneath the table and swiped her badge to turn it on then handed it over to Clay.
“You can only order one and it will be delivered here in five minutes and you can only order before it gets dark.”
Clay pressed the order button on the screen, then casually swiped his badge to off and on the device.
“Can I use this to read something?”
“Your badge and mine can only activate basic functions, but the library within the campus is accessible anytime.”
“Thank you big sister for explaining it to me.”
Clay waited for his meal to be delivered. Only now does he appreciate the talkative driver. He did not need to see the face of the maid to tell that she has a cold personality and one could tell the only reason she could be approached is because of her job.
When his food arrived, he started to get annoyed again as her sister has not yet returned. Be it past or present life, as a family, they should eat together all at the same time. It is a habit ingrained from childhood regardless if one likes it or not.
Clay got up and asked the maid who was busy cleaning the mess he made earlier.
“I am worried that my sister hasn’t arrived yet. I…”
“She is doing well and you have nothing to be worried of. Unlike you, she is busy training and preparing for the upcoming selections and she can always go to the school’s cafeteria when she’s hungry.”
“Care to join me for dinner?”
Despite the inflection on the maids tone and even seeing the maid forcing her smile, Clay still asked as it is the polite thing to do.
“I am fine. Just eat your supper and get some got rest, ok?”
Clay turned around and walked to the kitchen. He can’t help but compare being a young master from the first world he reincarnated into to this advanced civilization he is currently living with. Though true power exists, the million years of development and survival of society has buried the concept of genuine submission and slave mentality.
Since they are under protection of the school and given that his twin brother has a Nascent level butler, then there really was nothing to be concerned about so he went back to his meal.
When Clay woke up the following morning, the first thing he wanted to do is to visit the fruits he planted yesterday. The roots of the Vein Model had been adjusted to control the Spiritual Qi it emits but when left for too long, it will attract attention so he needed to monitor it.
He hummed as he walked out of the house expectant of fruits teeming with Spiritual Qi however the moment he stepped on the grass at the backyard, a sight of four blue-eyed black cats with violet inner ears greeted him and one of them is licking its balls.
The garden looked like it has been infested by a swarm of locusts that not even a single leaf was spared. Even the few grasses near the mini pond had been terrorized. The area looked like it had been sprayed large amounts of herbicide that even the stems of herbs he planted had been ruined.
Clay could not breathe. It was a total devastation.
“I will turn you all into Vein Models!”
Clay’s face darkened as his Qi Projection Tentacles materialized and extended but just when he thought he captured the cats, all four dispersed and in a blink of an eye, three managed to jump of the wall except for one that tried to hide on a corner.
Clay is still fuming. He realized how weak he is without his Boosted Power and is powerlessness to stop the three from escaping but he refused to give in and must at least capture one to pacify his boiling anger. He activated his killing intent and spread his Qi into an aura to suppress the cat.
Clay smiled and felt a little satisfaction upon seeing the cat frozen in fear as he slowly approached it.
Ngeewww!
The cat cried and trembled before its hunter whose bloodlust is like a colossal wave that can wash away an island.
In the name of avenging the fallen tomatoes, Clay looked like a god who is about to bring chaos and destruction however right before his hand could reach the cat, the beast in instinct opened its mouth and spewed clear liquids that directly came in contact with Clay’s Eyes.
“Argggh!”
Clay did try to close his eyes but was too late. He felt a painful and burning sensation but having been exposed to extreme suffering, it did not affect him much. He wanted to immediately retaliate but when opened his eyes after he blinked and looked around, the cat was nowhere to be found.
He cursed his carelessness.
