115. The Poorest Disciple
Clay is lazily poking his nose as he sits on a long wooden chair on a veranda outside’s Fara’s residence. Not far from him is his is 4th brother, Luk who is currently tied to a tree because he misbehaved again by plucking a flower from Fara’s little garden.
*Mrrggghhh
*Mrrggghhh
Luk looks like he wanted to say something but Clay ignored Luk’s plight for help.
Last night after that lightning explosion incident, he now understand why the Barnachea Pill Legacy had ceased to exist. What he wants to know now is how did the Barnacheans protected their pills from a Lightning Tribulation.
He may be able to protect the pill if he poured all of his Dao but having learned his lessons, he did not want to make a gamble.
Calculating the strength of lightning that nearly struck him, if he did not have his Dao powers, he probably had been burned to crisp.
But the problem is the aftermath. Upon learning that his residence had been destroyed, Fara told him that he can request for repairs from the Mission Hall which he immediately went to this morning however he found out that it would require him 500 contribution points to restore it. Since he used up all his points, he went to check any missions from Alchemy Hall but unfortunately again, he has to buy the ingredients himself before he can exchange them into points and there is a room usage fee as well for using the Alchemy room.
Clay was surprised how different this sect’s management is when compared to Rising Cloud Sect. He thought that becoming a personal disciple would have its perks but it turns out he is not different from those outer disciples. Almost everything he needed to do requires points. Even eating at the canteen. Since he was out of options, he came to ask his senior sister for advice.
Clay was expecting Fara would lend him points but it turns out that points are non-transferable. And on top of that, Fara is as inhospitable as an old hag that she tied Luk for as punishment for plucking a flower. He was invited to enter earlier but he declined afraid he’ll be tied to a tree next to Luk.
At least Fara informed him about the Night Market and he has been sitting there the rest of the afternoon waiting for night to come so he can trade his pills later.
*Cling
Clay turned towards the door. This morning, their master announced that they will be holding a banquet to celebrate their second brother’s breakthrough and Fara had been preparing all morning. So typical of a woman taking an entire day preparing herself to look beautiful only to attract the ugliest of men during a social event.
“Do I look pretty junior brother?”
Clay flicked his finger to throw away the booger that slowly accumulated in his finger for the past few hours. Having been asked an opinion, he felt like imparting a profound wisdom to his senior sister and his initial response was, “If you have a boyfriend, then, yes you are beautiful as being in a genuine relationship means someone has been ensnared and wants to be forever captive to your beauty.”
He snapped out of his deep thought and said in response, “You look like a goddess with that dress.”
“Mhhph”
Fara snubbed him and went to untie Luk.
“Now if you do that again I will put you in a box.”
*Waahhh
“Get your snot away from me!”
Clay picked his nose again as he blankly watched the two leave.
“What a beautiful sunset.”

The truth is, he wanted to attend the banquet however when he met Ogur this morning, Ogur was the complete opposite of Fara. All it took was one look for Clay to determine that orangutan’s overall personality, the same arrogant Elf who doesn’t look at him as a person. For such a young age to have been accepted as a personal disciple, and now having reached Core Formation, Clay did not want to take chances as he might become the subject of ridicule when he shows up. Besides, the only reason he wanted to show up is because there is free food.
After another hour, Clay got up to his feet and started walking down the mountain. He took out the bottle of 3 Qi Enhancement Pills. It is his final salvation to get contribution points.
When he woke up yesterday, everything within his ring had been confiscated except for his 2 cauldron, the extra spatial rings, ten Fire Crystal and two set of ingredient for Qi Enhancement Pills. His master told him they were all exchanged for contribution points which amounted to 10,000 bonus points which later he spent all in one go.
After walking for around thirty minutes, Clay arrived at the rumored Night Market of the sect. Just looking at the number of people is already making him excited. He put on his hood to not make his human appearance obvious.
Clay approached one of the roaming guards for directions.
“You see that small house over there? That’s where you register.”
Clay bowed in gratitude and walked towards the registration center.
“The front to the fifth row stalls is full. There is one spot on the 6th line and it requires 5 contribution points.”
Before Clay could even speak, the receptionist already pointed a diagram of the Night Market. From the design, it looks like two huge building facing each other and it has ten rows each.
“I’m new here and a personal disciple. Is there anything free?”
The receptionist took out a triangular token and handed it to Clay.
“You can occupy any spots on the tenth row. Opposite me is the convertion center which anyone can exchange their points to coins, then those coins will b used to purchase your goods which later you can convert back to contributions point and deposited to your token. And no advertising your good on the street or you will be fined. Next!”
Clay grabbed the key and walked towards the designated area. Upon reaching the far end of the building, he realized how peoples seemed to have stop up until the sixth row.
“No no no!”
Clay walked back and observed if there are any stalls opened along the 9th and 8th row. He could hear someone bartering on the 7th row but 8 to the 10th row is practically empty.
Clay wanted to curse and went back to surrender the triangular token. He did not need to open the stall to find out that no one will visit him. He may have high quality pill but it is only a Qi Enhancement Pill. For Elves, majority of them won’t even need a single pill to breakthrough to Mid Qi Condensation and in a place where every point is valued, he is quite sure his pills will not sell.
Although he could make a scene and pretend to drop his bottle of pill to reveal what he will be selling but his danger sensor is ticking off so he stopped himself.
It is getting late but having no place to sleep on with, he can only go to the Mission Hall.
“I wonder if we have a mission that would not require points nor does it would require me to venture outside, free lodging and free meal?”
“If you want to go that low, you can help get rid of insects on the rice fields for a month and you will be rewarded 4 contribution points.”
Clay’s eyes lit up upon hearing the response.
“Please sign me up.” Clay handed his token for registration. Four points is not much but it is all he needed later to start over. It’s only for a month that he will lie low. He wanted to participate in an actual mission but it is too early for him to endanger himself. Besides, he already guessed that the only reason he had been accepted to the sect is his pill concoction ability and he is confident that it will only take ten days before someone would ask him to go back and maybe even rebuild his residence for free.
Right now, he needs a place to eat and a roof over his head so he can rest well.
The territory of the sect is wide and some of them are uninhabited mountains. It has gotten dark but for a cultivator, following a path even with little light poses no problem.
After walking for almost more than an hour, Clay arrived at a valley of rice and wheat fields. He was instantly reminded of his past life. As a farmer, nothing beats the view of rice fields illuminated by moonlight.
“I’m the deacon assigned within this area. You would be the first among personal disciples to come visit. To what do I owe the pleasure?”
Even without looking back to see who was talking, the tone of the voice started to irritate Clay.
“Believe it or not, I accepted a task of removing insects. You should have had already received a notification.”
“We’ll I’m just surprised it was not an outer disciple. Here’s the thing. You may be a personal disciple but I will not be lenient if your field is destroyed. Also, while everyone here is young, majority of them have backgrounds and have better potentials so please, no troubles. Your room is 34.”
Clay slightly bowed. He is itching to bury the deacon’s face to the ground.
He walked towards the residential area. Looking at the numbers on each rooms, he followed the trail until he reached room 34.
When Clay opened the door, he heard someone heavily breathing.
“Huh… Hah… Huh ….Hah.”
Clay ignored the half naked and young muscular Elven doing pushups and went to sit on the vacant bed. He had a long day and needed a proper rest to heal his arms.
