Wait a minute! (Pt 2)

Wait a minute! (Pt 2)

The moment his feet touched the ground, it turned into gold. His theory was incorrect. Its ability wasn't to turn things it touched to gold. Its ability was to turn anything that was lesser than itself to gold. The moment he tried to run, he had accepted the fact that he was lesser than it. The Fester cackled before opening up its mouth, releasing the concentrated energy at Oliver. The energy consumed Oliver. Every inch of his body was basked in its power. Strangely it didn't hurt. He suspected it was because of the suit, but after his previous blunder, he didn't really believe in himself anymore. He failed again. He always failed. Even when given the ability to fight back, he squandered it away.

"As a cadet, you must be somewhat egotistical. To believe that you can do something without failing, is what makes the A tier, different from the C tier"

"Yeah yeah I get that... I'm just a failure. At the end of the day, all my mistakes are my fault and mine alone..."

What a depressing answer he had concluded to.

"Didn't I tell you I was your salvation?" That voice came back to him.

Maybe he was hallucinating again due to the bright light enveloping him, but he swore this time, he could see a person in front of him. They seemed to be a woman, but their face was obscured by a black veil. Actually... her entire body was covered in black. If not for her snow white hair, she'd look like a blob of shadows rather than a real person. Though from her piercing red eyes, he doubt she was anything close to human. Though strangely, no matter how much he tried to feel scared, seeing her eyes felt calming.

"Squandering this power... How pathetic" she said, sounding very upset.

"You don't need to tell me twice..." Oliver responded back.

The woman crossed her arms, tilting her head up as if to say "you're disgusting".

"Such power yet you don't even use its full potential" she retorted.

"How am I supposed to even know what I'm supposed to do?! It's not like I have an instruction manual for it!" Oliver retorted back.

"Your body should already know what to do... Have you forgotten what you are? You're [■]"

As if repeating an action he had done countless times, Oliver's body instinctively held the trigger on his belt. He pushed it back in, causing the belt to open its maw, "eating" all the energy. A disgusting chewing and eating sound filled the room as all the energy was absorbed into the device. Though from a third person view, it looked almost beautiful. Like a swirling vortex sucking up all the energy that was expelled from the Fester. However from Oliver's point of view. It was like looking at a hungry lion eating its first meal of the day.

After all the energy was consumed, the “maw” closed, and Oliver could hear a quiet burping sound. He grimaced in disgust.

[DESCENT ENERGY SUCCESSFULLY ABSORBED. WARNING: EXCESS ENERGY MIGHT LEAD TO OVERHEATING. PLEASE INITIATE AN EXECUTION]

The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

Hearing the words “execution” was slightly concerning, but at that point, if it meant the fight would be over, he'd think past the cruelty.

Oliver pulled out the trigger once again, an ominous sound coming out of his belt. His armour plating on his legs began to open up a bit, with the crevasses in-between being lit up with dark turquoise energy. A rather disgusting amount of murderous intent leaked out like an aura from Oliver's legs. It wasn't his intention, although it seems that the Fester's attitude had shifted once again. Now it was the one who wanted to run.

However, feeling petty after all the suffering he'd been dealt, Oliver decided to rub some salt into the Fester's already infected wound. He grabbed his scarf, then threw it at the beast. Once it wrapped around its body, Oliver tugged onto it tightly, immobilising the creature.

"Where are you trying to run?" Oliver said, smugly.

The Fester tried its best to escape, but the scarf was incredibly strong. No.... Oliver was incredibly strong. Finally, it had submitted. There was no other way out of its situation. It has truly been bested by a human. Oliver jumped up high in the air, putting one foot forward and the other one slightly above it. He crossed his arms together making an X.

"Finisher: death kick"

The way he said it, the way it sounded completely serious, made the attack sound even more stupid than its lazily chosen name implied. Dying by such an idiotically named attack created by a weak human... It was utterly pathetic. Oliver jumped up, kicking the Fester - his body going right through it like a sharp knife slicing through butter. A gaping hole was left in the Fester's chest as its body slowly began crumbling away into flakes of descent energy. Looking at the crumbling creature, he felt a bit bad for it. Even though it probably hurt a lot of people in its life, being killed in such a way was cruel. As the last of its body finally converted into raw descent energy, Oliver breathed a sigh of relief. He looked around the scene for a bit, realising that he lost his coat. He panicked, remembering that he'd have to pay a commission fee to get a new one

“I already spent my pocket money on books! Maybe I can use my tuition money…”

He paused for a moment, before shaking his head.

“Nah, aunt Susan gave me that money… I can't break her trust… hopefully my coat is here somewhere…” Oliver thought to himself, as he began looking around.

After a bit of searching, he managed to find it under some rubble.

“Hell yeah, I thought I'd never find i- aw damn it's ruined… guess I'll have to scrounge up the money after all...” Oliver said to himself, sighing as he held the tattered coat.

He placed his hand on his belt, ready to cancel his transformation, however an unexpected face showed up.

"Sis? What's she doing here...? Oh yeah, that message. She was probably sent here to kill that thing" Oliver thought to himself.

Still, he found it strange that she came alone. However, given the circumstances, he felt the need to boast about his achievement.

"Oh... It seems you were a bit too late. I already killed him" Oliver said, not realising that his voice changer was still on.

Olivia took a step back, a look of horror and disbelief strewn across her face.

"W- what do you mean kill...?" Olivia asked, gripping her attachment unit tightly to show some sort of control.

Oliver tilted his head. It was pretty obvious what he meant, was she trying to play a prank on him.

"Killed? I think it's pretty obvious, I killed that idiot. He was stupid to think that it could kill me, so I taught him a lesson" Oliver said, the rush of victory still in his veins.

It was as if hearing those words flipped a switch in Olivia. Her eyes became dark as a murderous aura enveloped her.

"I'll never forgive you... I'll never forgive you for killing him! I'll kill you, I'll destroy every part of you, till you're nothing but chunks of meat! I'll never forgive you for killing my brother!" Olivia shouted, her confidence coming back to her.

Those words confused and honestly scared Oliver.

"Huh are you daft, I'm-" but before he could explain the situation, Olivia swung her attachment unit at him.

Oliver instinctively dodged the attack, but felt a bit betrayed. Why was she attacking him?

"A new hyper class fester has been born. It killed the C tier investigator, Oliver Rand.... Permission to annihilate...."

Olivia said, her voice was like venom.

"Huh?!"
