Nature. (PT 2)

After making sure Tabatha and Bianca were out of harm's way, Oliver threw a rock at the fester to get its attention. The fester caught the rock midair, crushing it as it slowly turned to Oliver.

"Hmm... Human... You're the one he hurt his own comrade... Are you not?" The Fester said, creeping up towards him.

Oliver rolled his eyes before pointing his dagger at the Fester.

"Yeah that's right... And I'll be the guy who beats you too" Oliver said, confidently.

The fester laughed before encroaching on Oliver's personal space, by shoving its face ever so close to his. It stared at Oliver with its single eye, licking its sharp teeth.

"With what? This dagger? It might be made from the corpse of a disaster... But it's wielder is... Subpar" it taunted.

Oliver chuckled before smugly looking at it.

"Yeah the wielder might be subpar... But the enemy is no better. Compared to the guy I killed to get this dagger, you're nothing" Oliver grinned.

The Fester became enraged upon hearing his taunt, which Oliver found a bit hypocritical. The Fester attempted to strangle Oliver with its tendrils, however Oliver responded by cutting them off. As the Fester began regrowing its tendrils, Oliver used the opportunity to kick it in the chest, so that he could stagger it even more. Once its focus was off Oliver, he quickly made a run for it.

The distraction wasn't long though, as the Fester began to pursue Oliver. Though he planned for that to happen. Watching it chase him, Oliver's suspicions were confirmed.

"Its purposefully not hurting the trees... I knew it was connected to them somehow..." Oliver thought as he began dodging the coming tendrils.

Turning around to face the Fester, Olive flipped his dagger before stabbing it into one of the trees. The Fester momentarily stopped, as if it were just slapped out of nowhere.

"Bingo.... Now how do you like this?!" Oliver yelled before using all his strength to cut the tree down.

The Fester screamed loudly, as it began flailing its tendrils to try and stop Oliver. Its movements were sloppy, so it was quite easy for Oliver to evade its attacks, and even land some counters.

"This is great! If this keeps up, I won't need to use the suit!" Oliver thought to himself, feeling a bit proud.

Landing on some solid ground, Oliver wiped away his sweat as he pointed the dagger at the Fester.

"Come on, bastard! I'm just getting warmed up!" Oliver taunted.

The fester seemed to ignore Oliver's taunting, which was a surprise to him.

"Huh suddenly cool headed? Weren't you the one who oh so hypocritically attacked me after I made fun of you?" Oliver remarked, smirking.

The fester again did not respond, only staring at the ground lifelessly.

This creeped Oliver out, walking up to the Fester hesitantly to assess the situation. Once he was close enough, the fester suddenly jolted up, attacking Oliver with as fast as it couldn't. It didn't really matter though, as Oliver had already expected a sneak attack.

He simply cut the Fester's tendril off, causing the limb to fall to the ground and squirming like a worm.

"Ew... That's gross" Oliver remarked, looking at the disgusting sight below him.

His look of disgust quickly turned to panic, as he saw the tendril worm itself into the ground. He tried to stop it by stabbing the thing, but it got away before he had the chance to.

Looking up to the Fester, he grit his teeth. Pointing his dagger to a nearby tree, he threatened to cut it if it didn't explain what was going on.

"Go on... Cut it... It's not like I care..." the fester grinned.

Becoming even more pissed, Oliver began taking in deep breaths to calm himself down.

"No... It's obvious it wants me to attack the trees... I shouldn't just give in to taunts... Think clearly" Oliver thought.

He began analysing the area, seeing the green leaves in the area turn a reddish orange colour. He brought his dagger close to him, as he observed the leaves in the area slowly turn red.

"What the hell are you doing...?" Oliver asked the Fester.

The fester slowly got up, as it stretched its arms up with a massive grin.

"I'm feeding"

Soon the bark on the trees turned snow white before white tendril exploded out of them, attacking Oliver on all sides. He barely had any time to react to the attack, struggling to fend off the onslaught of tendrils. The more he attacked, the further he was pushed away. It was as if the Fester desperately wanted him to get away from it, which Oliver found a bit flattering.

"How nice... I'm so strong you don't wanna fight me?" Oliver mocked.

The fester grit its teeth before gesturing for a tendril to stab him. Oliver quickly blocked the attack, however he didn't have time to react to the attack coming from behind. The tendril impaled Oliver's stomach before pinning him against a tree.

The tendril dug deep into Oliver, causing him to vomit blood. The Fester found the sight quite entertaining, even trying to get closer to watch Oliver's torment on full display. However instead of despair, the fester found a smug expression on Oliver's face.

"What're you so happy about? You have a hole in your stomach!" It yelled.

Oliver laughed before looking up at it with cold eyes.

"Yeah well you're gonna be getting a pretty big hole soon enough" Oliver said, before biting off a chunk of the tendril.

The Fester staggered backwards, subconsciously pulling the tendril back.

As Oliver began to chew the piece of tendril, he really wanted to vomit. It reminded him of the time when he accidentally ate rotten strawberries on a field trip; although this time the texture was more akin to a rubber tire. Even still, he forced himself to swallow, before pulling out his driver.

Noticing the device in his hands, the Fester took a step back. Oliver put it on, smiling at the response the Fester gave. The moment he put on the driver, his wound began to slowly heal up, thanks to the fester flesh he consumed.

"My body keeps getting weirder and weirder... I'm pissed now" Oliver said before turning his attention to the fester.

He began scratching his head with the dagger, before yawning and stretching. The fester was still hesitant to fight, however it couldn't let such disrespect go unnoticed.

It tried to hit Oliver with a sneaky attack from the ground, however Oliver quickly responded by just slicing it in half. The Fester shook at his sudden increase in reaction time, wondering how he got so strong suddenly. Noticing the fear in the Fester's eyes, Oliver grinned from ear to ear. He looked over to where Tabatha and Bianca were, finding them sound asleep. Or maybe they were dead. He honestly couldn't care less. All he knew was that there was nobody to watch him transform.

"You scared? Good... Cause after this I'm not holding back." Oliver said, gripping his wrist with one hand.

Covering his face so that only one eye could be seen, Oliver looked at the Fester with intensity.

"Transform"

He pulled the trigger on the belt, causing a crack to be formed in the sky. From that crack, a mechanical crow holding a white scarf began circling Oliver's head, waiting for him to respond. Oliver grabbed the scarf, before wrapping it around his neck. As he did that, the armour slowly began to appear on his body, attaching onto him feather by feather. Finally the crow landed on top of Oliver's helmet, opening up to complete his mask and visor.

Too frozen by fear, the only thing the fester could do was watch as his enemy slowly began to fully manifest, into his strongest form.

Cracking his neck, Oliver pointed his dagger at the creature.

"You know... Birds really are really the worst when it comes to gardening. Cause all they do is eat up your vegetables!”
