Caught (PT 2)

Caught (PT 2)

The tentacle once again slammed into Oliver sending him flying towards the pier this time. He could really feel the embarrassment creeping into his soul. Taking a few seconds to recover from the embarrassment and pain, Oliver slowly sat up, looking down at his belt with a grimace.

"The hell do you mean low descent energy! I literally fed you those descent energy canisters like... Three days ago... And I've been transforming every night... Oh..." Oliver realised, his anger turning into disappointment at his own incompetence.

"Is my life some kind of comedy show?"

Oliver sat on the pier, lamenting his life choices. He sighed, before slowly standing up.

"Whatever... As long as that girl is safe...." Oliver said, walking towards the Fester.

He did some stretching on the way there, as if to show the Fester that he wasn't going to be messing around. The confidence Oliver showed was rather intimidating to the Fester, but even still, it had been summoned to kill Oliver, so even if it wanted to run away, it couldn't.

The tentacle shot out of the puddle of blood, revealing its true body. A mass of tentacles coiled up into a writhing flesh ball. The sounds it made as it writhed and moved around almost made Oliver throw up.

"Ew... Let's just get this over with please..." Oliver said, getting into a fighting stance.

The Fester agreed, extending it's tendrils to attack Oliver. He dodged most of the attacks, however the abundance of tentacles that headed his way was very disorientating. He almost got caught in a trap as four tentacles charged at him in each Cardinal direction, however managed to jump up right before they connected. He landed on one of the tentacles, using it as a bridge to get to the main body. Of course, the attacks didn't stop, so Oliver had to manage running and dodging while also trying not to fall off. Finally making it to the main body, he realised that the ball didn't close up fully at the top. It was as if something was hidden inside the ball of tentacles, which Oliver predicted was the Fester's weak spot. Although he wasn't sure if it really was it's weak spot or not, Oliver didn't have time to decide on what ifs. He needed to gamble. Dodging tentacle after tentacle, Oliver finally managed to enter the ball by diving into the hole at the center.

Inside the fleshy ball, it smelled horrible. Like a wet fish market whose produce had gone bad a month ago. However, just as he hoped, in the center was an open beak. Looking around for something to stab it with, Oliver came to the realisation that he was going to have punch it. He took a deep breath, then prayed that he wasn't going to lose his lunch. He punched into the beak, causing it to expel blood like a fountain. Some of the blood got into Oliver's mouth, which tasted like rancid calamari. Oliver pulled his arm out quickly, frantically wiping off the blood using his hands. However Oliver wasn't the only thing frantically trying to get stuff out of their mouth. The Fester used every one of its tentacles to stab Oliver in every direction, leaving him trapped with no way to escape. Soon.. a fountain of blood flowed out of the top of the Fester, similar to a whale expelling water out of it's blowhole.

However, that blood wasn't Oliver's.

Ripping out of the Fester's fleshy walls, Oliver climbed out of the fester like a worm popping out of an apple. His body was clad in his suit, which he was extremely thankful for.

"Thank goodness I swallowed that blood..." Oliver thought to himself, slowly pushing himself out of the dying Fester.

Oliver wiped the Fester blood off of him, making a disgusted face underneath his helmet. He sighed, wishing that his job would be less sticky and gross.

"This is the third time I had to crawl out of a Fester this week..." Oliver thought to himself.

He placed his hand on his driver, then pulled it off to disengage his transformation. He took a deep breath, then exhaled loudly out of relief. Though his relief would be short lived as he noticed that the sun was beginning to set. He began running as fast as he could to the next closest train station, forcing him to take another two train stations to get to the café. It was night when he finally arrived, barging into the café like a zombie.

"I'm.... Here..." Oliver said, completely out of breath.

"You're late jerk..." Olivia said, flicking his forehead.

Oliver lifted up his head, seeing that the party was indeed over. The food was gone, the music was turned off, and everyone was busy taking down the decorations. Oliver fell to his knees, feeling disappointed and guilty that he missed the party. Olivia looked down at Oliver before sighing.

"Stop sulking. The party was ruined even before you decided not to come..." Olivia said, helping him up.

"Huh? What do you mean?" Oliver asked.

Olivia then began explaining that at the start of the party, the cake that their aunt was making got burnt since she wasn't familiar with the new oven she had bought. Afterwards the food that one of their aunt's friends had brought caused an allergic reaction in one of the guests, causing a quarter of the party to be sent to the hospital.

"And on top of all that, aunt Susan sprained her ankle trying to help the paramedics in..." Olivia said, sighing.

Oliver was concerned about the last part she said, asking if their aunt was fine.

"Yup. She's just in the break room taking a rest..." Olivia said.

"Geez this whole thing sounded like a mess..." Oliver retorted.

"Yup... It was... So don't beat yourself up. I doubt aunt Susan would want you to go see something like that" Olivia said, patting his back.

"What kind of encouragement is that?" Oliver asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Hey I'm not good at comforting people okay?!" Olivia said, getting upset.

Oliver laughed at the face she made, which made her even more mad.

"You little-" but before she could do anything drastic, Oliver pulled out a box of cake.

"You do anything and I'm not giving you even a slice of this..." Oliver said, smirking.

Olivia began stuttering before eventually admitting defeat. She really liked cake.

After helping with taking down the decorations and closing up shop, Oliver, Olivia and their aunt all sat in one of the booths to enjoy the cake he had bought as well as some coffee.

"Sorry for missing out on the party, I was held up at work. Please take this cake as my apology... It sure was priced like one" Oliver said, remembering the 70 dollar price tag.

"Well at least you came back home safely..." Susan said, taking a sip of coffee.

"I'm just happy about the cake- ouch!" Olivia said as she began rubbing the spot that Susan hit her.

"Be nice to your brother..." Susan said, glaring at her.

Olivia mumbled something before going on her phone. As she began scrolling through social media though, something caught her attention.

"Hey... Look at this" Olivia said showing a picture.

Susan looked at it first, causing her to spit out the coffee she was drinking all over Olivia.

"Seriously...?" Olivia said, her eye twitching a bit.

Susan apologised before subtly looking at Oliver. This scared Oliver a bit, as it obviously related to him in some way. He slowly leaned to take a look at the picture, realising that it's a picture of him fighting the tentacle Fester. His heart sank a bit, realising that he was going to be in a lot of trouble. Olivia's reaction to the picture was the exact opposite. She smirked as she wiped the coffee out of her hair.

"Just you wait bastard... I'm going to find you..."

Such words sent shivers down Oliver's spine. Leaning back into his seat, Oliver wondered who could've caught him.

He could've never guessed that the culprit was currently walking out of a bakery taking a bite out of a pasty.

"Mmm, it's not as good when it's cold... But it's way cheaper at night" Katherine said to someone over the phone.

The person on the other side seemed to sound annoyed she was stuffing her face with food, however Katherine reminded them of what she had done for them.

"Hey, I did everything you told me to... You know I can technically report you to CPS right, dad?" Katherine said.

Her supposed father became silent.

"I'm joking.... Besides it's actually pretty fun watching Oliver run around.... Also I need you to wire me 10 grand..." Katherine said, sounding a bit guilty.

Her father began scolding her, asking her why exactly she needed that much money.

"It's nothing... It's just I hired Zel and Irene to help me out on the mission and well they asked for that much..." Katherine explained.

Her father sighed before telling her that he'll send the money soon.

"Well… k thanks bye" Katherine said before ending the call.

She sighed before taking another bite out of her pastry.

"I hope Oliver doesn't get too mad when he finds out”
