A proposal (PT 2)

A proposal (PT 2)

[The next day]

Walking to work, Oliver sighed at himself. Not only was he still pissed about what happened yesterday, but he also felt a bit guilty for saying those things to Olivia.

"I didn't even get to apologize to her... She was gone before I could even say anything... And the glare aunt Susan shot at me..." Oliver shivered.

On his way up the escalator, he noticed someone leaning on one of the entrance pillars. They looked like they were waiting for somebody, but Oliver ignored it thinking it wasn't any of his business. Though, after squinting his eyes a bit, it was Cecilia. He began going up the escalator manually, waving as he got closer to her.

"Yo I didn't expect to see you here" Oliver said, smiling.

She looked up to him, smiling softly.

"It's my first time waiting in this area. Usually I just enter through the loading bay cause the manufacturing ward is just above there" Cecilia said, laughing a bit.

Oliver chuckled, before asking her why she was waiting at the entrance.

"I was actually waiting for ya, dummy" Cecilia said crossing her arms.

Oliver paused for a moment before bowing.

"I apologise Ms Cecilia, but there's already a woman I love," Oliver said, sounding extremely sincere for some reason.

Cecilia hit him on the head before grabbing his collar and lifting him up from his bowing position.

"That's not why I'm here! Also you're 17! I DON'T plan on going to jail any time soon" Cecilia said, shaking her head.

Oliver rubbed the part where she hit him while making a guilty expression.

"So why did you wait for me then? (Also you didn't have to hit me so hard...)"

Cecilia was about to say something, but then stopped suddenly. She then turned to the entrance and began walking. She gestured for him to follow - and since he had nothing else better to do - he began walking behind her. As they walked inside, Oliver tried asking her again as to why she was waiting for him, but she remained silent throughout their walk. This annoyed Oliver, so he decided to be a bit more aggressive in his tactics.

"Hey hello?"

"Earth to Cecilia"

"I'm not going to stop until you say something"

"Lalalalalalalalalalala"

"I know you can hear me"

"Come on come on come on!"

"Please tell me and I won't tell anyone you chickened out during the raid"

His last bit of provocation hit a nerve in Cecilia, causing her to gut punch him. He held his stomach before falling to his knees.

"Ouch..." Oliver said, solemnly.

Cecilia sighed before crossing her arms.

"Get up we're here"

Looking around, Oliver realised he was in an unfamiliar room. It was pure white and basically empty, save for the table in the middle. Cecilia walked up to the table before tracing a specific symbol using her finger. The symbol she traced lit up in a dark blue colour before fading away in a glitchy effect. The previously empty table now had an attachment unit placed on top of it, it's glossy shine grabbing Oliver's attention. He got up as fast as he could, greedily snatching it up for examination.

"Is this really mine?!" Oliver said, excitedly.

Cecilia nodded, explaining it was a gift from someone who went by the alias, "the Reaper of pure white death". Just from the name, Oliver could guess who gifted him the attachment unit.

"So this was the present he wanted to give me? Sweet..." Oliver said to himself.

Hearing this, Cecilia scratched her head with one finger as she made a guilty expression.

The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

"... Well he didn't exactly gift you it. Since ya guys collected two ulteirs from that game Fester, the higher ups commissioned the manufacturing department to make two weapons and give ya the weaker one..." Cecilia explained.

Oliver's heart sank a bit, as he felt a little disappointed that he was getting the weaker version out of the two.

"Man I was gonna show off to Olivia..." Oliver said, his ego practically deflating.

This made Cecilia chuckle a bit before punching his arm lightly.

"Let me finish kiddo..." Cecilia said, smiling.

A bit of Oliver's excitement came back to him after hearing this.

"Well... You would be getting the weaker one initially... However, thanks to this mysterious sponsor, the commission changed. He gave us a "synthesis root" to help us merge the two weapons together to make a stronger one... And that weapon now belongs to you" Cecilia continued, pointing at the attachment unit.

Oliver examined it, the child-like wonder from before coming back to him.

"So what rank is it?" Oliver asked excitedly.

Cecilia crossed her arms before closing her eyes to think. After a while, she opened them back up and gave a rough estimate.

"Minimum S+ rank, at max like barely reaching the SS rank." Cecilia explained. “Since it was created from two ulteirs, the weapon can spl-” but before she could finish her sentence, Oliver greedily grabbed it. She felt a bit peeved by his impatientness, but it quickly faded away as she saw the face he was making.

As his starry eyes set themselves upon the case, Oliver smiled widely. He finally had a weapon of his own. One specifically made for him. He bowed a bit, thanking Cecilia for making it for him.

She chuckled before shaking her head.

"Hey it wasn't just me ya know? Lots of talented researchers helped makin' it" Cecilia commented.

He held the attachment unit close to his face, before nodding. He put it down and gave her a determined expression.

"Then I wanna thank all of them!" Oliver said.

Cecilia paused for a moment; blinking her eyes rapidly.

"How did a sweet boy like ya become an investigator in the first place...?" Cecilia retorted, shocked.

Oliver gave a thumbs up before smiling.

"Dumb luck!" Oliver said confidently.

Cecilia paused once again, before laughing. Oliver felt a bit embarrassed by her laughter, thinking that she was laughing at him.

"Hey stop" Oliver said, pouting a bit.

She wiped her tears before apologizing.

"What's gotten into ya, kiddo? Last time I saw ya... You were a mess" Cecilia commented.

Oliver looked down at the ground for a moment, before looking at her with a smile.

"I just realised that my life has lots of reasons to continue living"

The two walked out of the room, finding themselves in a completely different location from when they came in. Oliver looked around with shock, trying to find out what kind of sorcery F.A.T.E was using.

"I'll definitely figure out your secrets..." Oliver said with a strange determination.

Cecilia gave him a disappointed look that said "please stop", before pushing him forward.

"It's some magic bullshit descent energy contract thing... Ugh just trying to summarise it hurts my brain..." Cecilia said, a tired look in her eyes.

Oliver wasn't satisfied with her answer, but it's been half an hour since he's entered work and he hasn't done anything yet.

"Mr Sieg is going to kill me-" but before he could finish his sentence he bumped into someone.

The imposing figure's large, muscular frame caused Oliver to fall, hurting his head.

"Ow ow ow..." Oliver said, holding his head gently.

He looked up at the man, noticing that he was looking down on him. Behind the man's sunglasses, were eyes that were as cold as ice and as sharp as a blade. This made Oliver's spine shiver as he grabbed onto Cecilia's leg for comfort.

"He's going to kill me!" Oliver whined.

The man slowly approached hm, before holding Oliver's chin. He examined Oliver's face a bit, before smiling.

"My oh my... Where did you find such an interesting test subject Cecilia?" The man asked, pulling down his sunglasses a bit.

Cecilia sighed before helping Oliver up. As he began dusting himself off, Cecilia introduced him to the man In front of him.

"This man... is unfortunately my boss... Damian Hyrte" Cecilia said, rolling her eyes.

Oliver looked at Damian before hiding behind Cecilia.

"You mean he's the guy who goes by 'the mad tailor'?!" Oliver said, shaking a bit.

Damian chuckled before flipping his hair.

"I'm glad you know who I am. Though I didn't choose that name, you know? My actual title is 'the weaver who threads personas'..." Damian explained.

"Don't care, you're still weird" Oliver retorted.

Cecilia agreed with him, the two whispering to each other about how weird they think Damian is.

"I heard that he bit a man's ear off" Oliver whispered.

"Yeah it's true, I saw it" Cecilia whispered back.

Damian's eye twitched, exclaiming that he could hear them gossiping about him.

"Fine then, I WAS going to make you a new uniform. But obviously you wouldn't appreciate it since I'm soooo weird right" Damian said as he shrugged and began walking away.

Seeing the opportunity of a new uniform slip away from him, Oliver had to stop him! He immediately bowed, and began practically begging for Damian to reconsider.

"Please please please! I need a new uniform! This one sucks so much! It's just the white button up I use at school with the F.A.T.E standard issued black coat over it! Sometimes I- I… I don't even take off my tie! My teachers keep yelling at me because it gets dirty! You don't want to make a poor boy's education harder do you? Please!!!" Oliver whined.

Hearing this made Damian stop, and smile a sinister grin.

"Too easy..." Damian said quietly as he began tightly gripping onto Oliver's shoulders.

Startled by his strong grip and sudden shift in demeanor Oliver slowly began looking up, seeing a devious expression on the red haired man's face. Oliver gulped before smiling wearily.

"W- what're you going to do with me?" Oliver asked meekly.

After hearing Oliver's question, Damian couldn't help but laugh. Oliver found his laughter mocking, but he was too desperate for a new uniform to stop him. After a while though, even the most desperate of men will succumb to annoyance.

"Hey tell me what you want from me, bastard!" Oliver said, sounding pissed.

Damian stopped laughing, as he began to smirk.

"That's it... I wanna see just what kind of person you are, Oliver Rand!" Damian said with vigor.

Oliver blinked his eyes a few times as he made a dumbfounded expression.

"Huh?”
