Chapter 7: Black Valkyrie unlocked

“Uga. Why is Diuscrucis yelling?”(Samantha)

Waking up in a dazed state. I looked to see what was left from the room. Separating my burnt wings to get a better look around, I noticed that only a small space in front of the door was left. Everything else was gone or on fire. I couldn't see the Devil but I could see the charred remains of the succubus impaled on a flaming piece of debris two floors down. That bitch deserved that one. Getting off the floor I walked out the room and toward a shop to steal some health potions because the cashier wasn’t there. While drinking the potions to repair my damaged wings and to seal up my cuts, I was watching Diuscrucis respond to his mother’s death.

“Good! that makes this easy then……. I’ll just kill all of you.”(Diuscrucis)

‘Pffffft’ ‘cough’ ‘cough’ ‘cough’ “Fuck! I need to get out of here!”(Samantha)

Chugging another bottle down in order to completely repair my wings, I started sprinting down the corridors to my car. On my way there I saw thousands panic and start to trample each other trying to escape the arena. flying over them I saw people pushing, shoving, walking over, and very easily killing anyone who wasn't fast or strong enough to stay on their feet. Looks like I have an excuse to use my minigun now. Reaching the parking lot I saw my Humvee speeding toward the exit of the parking lot. Checking my pockets I realized that I didn’t have my keys on me. When did……? I can pay for repairs later but first.

‘Crash’ ‘shreeeeeck’ “GET. OUT. OF. MY. CAR. NOW!”(Samantha)

I followed my car until it reached a fairly wide road before landing on its hood. My car was fine but the windshield completely shattered when one of my feet landed on it. Looking inside I saw Pi and Crescendo in the front seats. getting out of the car Crescendo looked at me like I was a monster. Pi looked at me with sparkling eyes.

“No way. How did you catch up so quickly? We were going at 350 kph.”(Crescendo)

“I can fly almost as fast as my car’s top speed.”(Samantha)

“Please just punish me Samantha. I was the one who came up with the idea to steal your car and……”(Pi)

“You fuckers stole my car the moment things started to get dangerous. Crescendo stole my keys while she was groping my ass in order to have an escape vehicle the moment something went wrong. Pi is trying to take the blame because she wants me to punish her. The both of you never go anywhere that could be potentially dangerous unless I was there with you or, you were under orders to do so. I was here with you but, you thought I wasn't enough so you stole my car which is one of the most powerful vehicles in the area in order to keep yourselves safe.”(Samantha)

‘Yelling’ “I took Pi with me to keep her safe because she would blindly follow you anywhere. You could always look out for yourself but we can’t. We aren't like you Sammy. We are collectors not fighters. How many times do I have to tell you? Valkyries collect the souls of the dead. We don’t fight. We don’t engage the enemy. We don’t kill. We collect. We watch from the sidelines until the battle's over. We stay safe. I don’t know why you try so hard to be a Black Valkyrie and frankly, I don’t care anymore. You know why? It’s because they don’t even exist! They have never existed! They are just a made up fairytale used to try and convince female angels to start killing! You will never be one! No matter how hard you try it just won’t happen!”(Crescendo)

“Um. Girls?”(Pi)

‘Yelling’ “Well you know what bitch?! I have been keeping you both safe all this time because I thought we were friends. I went out of my way so many time for the two of you over the last three years that it's hard to count them all.”(Samantha)

“Um. Ladies.”(Pi)

‘Light crying’ ‘Yelling’ “If this is all I get for always standing by your side then I guess we were never friends to begin with! While you run and hide I am going to try and save this city from Diuscrucis.”(Samantha)

‘ Yelling’ “See!? There you go again. Trying to do something that you are neither paid or have to do. Why are you always going out of your way to do the completely impossible?”(Crescendo)

‘Yelling’ ‘Light crying’ “Because I believe it's the right thing to do!”(Samantha)

‘Pointing’ “A small wooden doll is walking towards us.”(Pi)

Turning around I saw what looked to be some kind of  three ft tall brown and red nutcracker walking towards us. Getting off the car I walked to doll while rubbing away my tears. When we are a few feet away from each other we stopped walking.

“Miss Samantha. I need you to come to my shop. I have something that might be able to help you.”(???)

“The fuck. Why should I trust what you say?”(Samantha)

“Because I am a friend of your best friend.”(???)

What the fuck Suzi? How many unknown friends do you have? When did you become friends with a nutcracker?

“Come on then. I will need you to lead the way.”(Samantha)

Turning around I walk back to my car and got into the driver's seat.

“Both of you get in now.”(Samatha)

After saying that they both sat in the back seats and waited silently. As I drove us to our new location. Everyone waited in silence while the doll was giving me directions.  The only sounds we could hear were the screams of the dying and the explosions of battle. When we reached a large block of wood with a blond, pale skinned elf standing outside with a cane, we stopped. Getting out of the car all of us stand before him.

“I’m glad you made it. Now listen. This cane I have in my hand is capable of stopping your friend.”(???)

“How can it possibly help?”(Samantha)

“It has the power to completely ignore defense and attacks a person’s soul directly. This weapon can defeat him in one hit. The only problem is we have to hit him in the center of the chest for it to work. I highly doubt he will let us gain multiple hits.”(???)

“I see the problem. Now let me guess. You want me to protect you from him in exchange for the weapon?”(Samantha)

“Yes.”(???)

“Give me two Heaven crystals and we have a deal.”(Samantha)

After the elf pulled out two blue statues that looked like trash cans, I grabbed them and gave one to Pi and Crescendo.

“You both are going to teleport to Loki and tell him the situation. You are then going to beg and pray for me to die here because, if I make it out of here alive I will hunt you. And not even Loki and the other Valkyries will be able to protect you from me.  I will make both of you pay for stealing my car. Do I make myself clear?(Samantha)

“Sammy dear. I’m sorry for what I said earlier. It was to cruel. I know how hard you…”(Crescendo)

“Leave!”(Samantha)

“Yes.”(Pi)

Crushing the statues both girls disappeared in a mass of blue lines.

“Get in. I have somewhere to be.”(Samantha)

After we both got in I started driving to my house.

“So why were you fighting with your friends? My name’s Pinocchio by the way. The building you picked me up in was my store.”(Pinocchio)

“Shut up.”(Samantha)

“It's just a simple question. Why are you so upset?”(Pinocchio)

“Uga!”(Samantha)

I spent the next minute hearing him whine about me driving at 500 kph. When we reached a large cream cathedral surrounded by four gray bell towers.

“Go inside and wait. I’m going to get my friend.”(Samantha)

saying  that, we exit the car and I fly to the top of a bell tower. I waited a few seconds when. 

“See? I told you I had a way around it! Now come on. We need to create a plan and I want to talk to you in a more private location.”(Suzi)

She saw me on my way up here? No that's not possible. She must have sensed me waiting for her. Coming down from the side of the roof I walked over to them.

“I can never hide from you can I?”(Samantha)

“I’ve mastered stalking. Unless you're made of nothing, I can sense you.”(Suzi)

“Whatever. Come on. Our plan has been severely derailed but all of this can still be used to our advantage.”(Samantha)

“How?”(Star)

“I picked up an annoying pest who claimed he could help us in turning this around.”(Samantha)

“Lead the way.”(Suzi)

Walking toward the stairs I lead them to the main hall. We walked through several hallways that looked far more spectacular than the old stone building would have you believe. Soon we entered the main hall where groups of people gather to pray to their gods. In the center of the room is a large 14 ft tall marble cross with Jebus nailed to it. Or was it Jesus? I could never get his name right. Sitting on the floor next to the cross was Pinocchio who looked worn out.

“Old man!?”(Suzi)

“I’m only 250 years old damn it! Stop calling me old!”(Elf man)

“A wood elf? That’s rare.”(Star)

Getting off the floor Pinocchio walked up to Star with a smile.

“Hey beautiful. The names Pinocchio. What’s yours?”(Pinocchio)

“Oh my god…..”(Star)

“My god. Star is all flustered! I didn’t think she had this bad of taste in men. Old man how'd you do it?”(Suzi)

“I’m not old! Besides she isn’t flustered. She looks more like she has just had an epiphany.”(Pinocchio)

“Suzi we need to have a talk.”(Star)

Grabbing Suzi’s hand Star dragged her off.

“So…...Do you flirt with every girl you meet or is it just elves?”(Samantha)

“I flirt with them all.”(Pinocchio)

“Then why didn’t you flirt with me while we were coming here?”(Samantha)

“You looked upset and I didn’t want to add to the fire.”(Pinocchio)

“Come now. Do you really think I don’t know what you can be doing with those dolls. First you use one to find and talk to me. Then you know about the situation at the arena. I highly doubt that you don’t also use this to peep on girls. They buy your product and you use it to spy on them.”(Samantha)

“I would never…….have thought to do it that way. I now need to make cuter dolls.”(Pinocchio)

‘Whisper’ “I just created a monster. I must never allow him to have a conversation with Crescendo.”(Samantha)

“Who will be knocking at the door at this time? I highly doubt people would come to a cathedral when the city they are living in is being blown to pieces.”(Samantha)

Walking to the door I open it to find a black knight standing outside.

“How may I help you?”(Samantha)

‘Surprisingly feminine voice’ “A woman by the name of Suzi said that if the city started to fall apart then I should come here.”(???)

“Come in then. Feel free to pray to your Gods. This might be your last chance.”(Samantha)

‘Feminine voice’ “Thank you I will keep that in mind. Is Suzi here? I would like to see her.”(???)

“I’ll go get her.”(Samantha)

“You seem awfully nice all of the sudden.”(Pinocchio)

“In my home it is a rule to be courteous to all visitors.”(Samantha)

“Am I not a visitor”(Pinocchio)

“I haven’t threatened or cussed at you since we got here have I?”(Samantha)

“I understand.”(Pinocchio)

Walking away I searched for Suzi until I felt killing intent come from my room. I hope Suzi hasn’t found my masturbation material. If she has then she will hold it over my head for years to come. Well it's now or never.

‘Knock’ ‘knock’ “Yo! Suzi! You have a visitor and Pinocchio has something that your weakling friend could use. Now hurry up and get out of my room!”(Samantha)

Walking back to the main hall I see Pinocchio trying to flirt with the black knight. Knowing that there will be a big battle coming means I should probably pray to the gods for guidance. Normally I would have more time, but right now I can only pray to one. Which one should it be? Looking at the cross I walk over to it and kneel in front of it. This guy is right four times out of ten and to be frank. That’s higher than most of the gods here. There is also that god named Gandhi who is right six times out of ten but, he is currently on some holy vacation or something so.

‘Clap’ ‘clap’ ‘bow’ {Dear Jebus, has Suzi discovered my masturbation material?}(Samantha)

Snapping back to my senses I see that the knight took of her helmet and Star is slapping Pinocchio. He must have got caught flirting with the knight. The knight had long black hair and pale skin.

“What did you do that for?”(Pinocchio)

“To help teach you that if you keep acting like this you will cause nothing but trouble. Now what's your name miss?”(Star)

“Please just call me Mrs. White.”(White)

“It’s good to meet you Mrs. White. Pinocchio what is the thing you wanted to show me?”(Star)

While rubbing his bloody nose, out of a magic item in his pocket Pinocchio pulled out a sky blue walking stick.

“I call this baby Whale. When struck against an enemy it ignores all defenses and is capable of destroying the person’s very soul. If we use it against Suzi’s brother then we can take him out in one hit.”(Pinocchio)

“The only catch is we need to hit his chest dead center or we might not kill him. Not to mention he’s a moving target so if we miss or worse, graze him……..... We only got one shot so don’t miss.(Samantha)

Getting off the floor I walk over to them.

“I can understand that but, why whale?”(Star)

“Simple. When I was a hundred and fifty years younger I started creating this weapon. At the time my friend Jiminy was helping me pay for the house we shared. While I was making this thing, he was living a party life that he tried to get me to join. His parties grew bigger and louder to the point that high nobles were trying to kill him just to make him stop. After a while we started drifting apart. I slowly stopped talking to him as often and he stopped visiting as frequently. I was so busy working that I didn't notice that he needed my help and…………..”(Pinocchio)

“Why would you tell us that? You could have just said that it was something you didn’t want to talk about.”(Star)

“If I die here I want to at least let someone know what happened in my past.”(Pinocchio)

“Meh… I’ve heard worse.”(Samantha)

“Ok now that we have all introduced ourselves, I have a plan. First off Samantha I need you to do something for me.”(Suzi)

“You know full well I can’t fight your brother even if I wanted to Suzi. I’m a regular valkyrie and don’t have the jurisdiction to participate in the fight.”(Samantha)

Jurisdiction, Job restriction. They are the same thing. As long as I’m a Valkyrie I can only fight for self defense. Any other kind of fighting will drastically lower my ability to fight. Hell. I can lose a fight to an eight year old if I am planning to harm or kill him before he attacks me first. And even then it will be hard to kill the brat.

“I wasn’t going to ask you to fight him. I was going to ask you to protect Mrs. White here. She is going to be fighting him. Well more like lure him to a position so we can kill him. I wanted you to protect her soul so that when all of this is over I can bring her back from the dead.”(Suzi)

“It won't  be hard to hide just one soul from the gods at this rate so, consider it done.”(Samantha)

“Secondly Star, Pinocchio, and I will be several hundred kilometers away to snipe him with whale when he reaches the ideal location.”(Suzi)

“And where might that be?”(White)

“All the streets are in a twisted jigsaw pattern. There is no way you can get a clear shot from hundreds of kilometers away.”(Samantha)

“Yes we can. The street directly in front of the Great Library has a straight line of sight for close to 515 kilometers, from it to one of the shopping districts. I admit that the space the shot needs to go through is only a few inches wide but, it is still a straight shot. We even have the ideal person to do it.”(Suzi)

“I can make the shot if he is within 500 km however why do we need such a distance to shoot from? Can’t we shoot him from closer up?”(Star)

“My brother can sense magic from a little over 300 km away and the only way we can hit him is with magic. From outside his range we can continually charge a weapon to fire Whale fast and far enough to reach him before he can get out of the way. Hopefully.”(Suzi)

“Hopefully?....I know the streets of this city fairly well so come on White, I will be helping guide you to the sniping location. The rest of you start moving. I can already feel the death count in the millions and several lesser gods are already dead.”(Samantha)

“She is right. If we don’t hurry we might not get a chance to fire before he comes for us.”(Pinocchio)

Everyone left my home and split up. White and I got into my car and I started driving towards Diuscrucis.

“See that button to the right of you? Press it to man my gun. We are to far from that main road Suzi was talking about but, we can use my car to start bringing him over to the spot.”(Samantha)

“Got it.”(White)

As we were heading towards Diuscrucis, White pressed a small maroon button that changed part of  my front dashboard into an arcade shooter module. After finding Diuscrucis I turned my car around and got ready to floor it. Looking back I could see him tearing wings off a group of angels and setting them on fire. White looked at the screen in front of her and is using it to take aim at him. When the crosshairs and the floating orange triangle lined up she opened fire and he started charging at us. Flooring it I started driving at top speed. I only need to reach the line of fire of that elf and keep him there long enough for her to take the shot. A hundred kilometers is all I need. While I was driving, things around me were just exploding and were either making a way for me to pass or were slowing Diuscrucis down. When a bus that was blocking the road in front of me exploded and flew over my car into Diuscrucis, I couldn’t help but yell out.

“What is happening here?!”(Samantha)

{Ha! Ha! Come now Samantha. You are having a party without me? And here I thought we were having a great boss and employee relationship.}(???)

{Loki! Why are you helping me? I thought you didn’t like the competitions.}(Samantha)

{I don’t. They are really good at figuring out when I’m cheating but, when I heard what you were doing I couldn’t help myself. I had to see how you were holding up.}(Loki)

{Listen. I need you to start Loki escape plan #34}(Samantha)

{Good! Ha! I look forward to when I can call in that favor. Turn left at the next intersection and stay on the left hand side of the road.}(Loki)

“Hang on! This is going to start getting rough!”Samantha)

Turning left I narrowly avoided crashing into an oncoming truck. Glancing back I noticed the truck crashed into Diuscrucis and stopped him for a few seconds.

{So about that favor…}(Loki)

{Are we really talking about this now?!}(Samantha)

{Of course. Take the next right and an immediate left on the side street. I don’t like beating around the bush. You see what I want from you is for you to continue working for me.}(Loki)

{Why?}(Samantha)

{Turn right and take that ramp off the bridge. Make a U-turn and drive straight.}(Loki)

“Brace yourself!”(Samantha)

Driving my car off a turned over pickup truck I flew off the bridge and landed with a hard crash. Slightly disoriented I turned the car around and drove off. Moments later, Diuscrucis landed where I would have been if I kept going straight.

“Amazing! How did you know he was going to land there?”(White)

“I didn’t.”(Samantha)

{I did! Ha! Ha! Now I want you to stay because the way you've been acting is going to cause you to be promoted. Stick to your right. When that happens, you will be allowed to work for whoever you want. I’m even willing to give you an above average pay grade.}(Loki)

{What am I being promoted to?}(Samantha)

{Looks like we are out of time. Good luuuuck! Ha ha ha!}(Loki)

{Hay! Don’t you dare hang up on…...!} “You fucker!”(Samantha)

“I’m out of ammo!”(White)

“Damn it! Get ready to jump out the door this is going to hurt!”(Samantha)

Looking at the rear view mirror I saw Diuscrucis charging at us at full speed. When he reached us he hit the side of the car and  then flung it into the side of a building. While he was reaching us, White dived out the door and I put my seatbelt on. When my car hit the building I blacked out. After a while I woke up and had to crawl my way out from my overturned car.  

“I’ve been having too many blackout today.”(Samantha) 

Looking back at my car, I could see it in ruins. Diuscrucis owes me a new humvee when we're done here.

“Aaahhh!!!!”(White)

Hearing White scream I flew over to her location and found her torn in half. I made a flyby to pick up White’s soul and continued flying to the library. Diuscrucis saw me flying away but, he wasn’t able to follow me because an arrow hit his shoulder. ‘Booom’ ‘swooosh’ Then a tsunami of wreckage flew into him. The shockwave following the arrow pushed me out of the way of the wreckage.

 “Ahhhhhh!”(Diuscrucis)

Seeing Diuscrucis in pieces I walked over to see if he was really dead. When I got to him, I saw him turn his head to look at me before his soul started to leave his body. 

“No you don’t.”(Samantha)

Grabbing his soul I flew towards the library. Landing on the partially destroyed balcony I walk toward Suzi who seemed to be planning something with Pinocchio.

“I’ll give you a quick rundown on what happened.”(Samantha)

“Thanks.”(Suzi)

“So their dead huh?”(Suzi)

“Ya. Now that this whole mess is over with I need to head back to Heaven. My report isn’t going to write itself. See you soon….Partner.”(Samantha)

“See you soon.”(Suzi)

Turning around, I flew toward the realm gate. It is a giant metal spherical arch floating in the sky that connected the different realms. Going through it I went straight toward the military base to release Diuscrucis’s soul into the underworld. After I influence it a bit.

“Wait a minute! What did you do to my soul?”(Diuscrucis)

“I made it so that whenever you think about me you will slowly become more and more in love with me.”(Samantha)

“I knew you could survive the ordeal and might I add great job on the promotion. I’m sure one of the conditions was very…smashing. Ha!”(Loki)

Turning around I saw Loki walking over to me. He was a tall lean man with long black hair. Beyond that I don’t know what he looks like. He wears a bright green military uniform and a golden smiling mask. His hands have several lollipop snack rings and a “Game On” gold chain around his neck. His eyes are four different rotating colors being red, blue, yellow, and white.

“What do you want your godliness?”(Samantha)

“Ha! I wanted to know if you will be willing to continue working for me.”(Loki)

“Let me be in charge of Crescendo and Pi as their permanent leader. I need to make sure they actually get their work done. I also want to be able to move freely and handle my missions as I see fit.”(Samantha)

“The girls will be transferred over to your command immediately and all I ask of you is to send a report explaining why you handled the mission the way you did after every mission. Beyond that you may act as you see fit.”(Loki)

“Then I am more than willing to continue working for you.”(Samantha)

“Excellent! I will add the pay raise to your new base salary later tonight. Now go get some rest. You are going to have specialized training starting tomorrow.”(Loki)

Saying that he turned around and walked away.

“Consider the favor repaid!”(Samantha)

Loki stopped momentarily before he continued walking away. When he did he was shaking his head while flipping me the bird.

‘Whisper’ “I will never owe you a favor if I can avoid it. Now how should I punish those two little trouble makers?”(Samantha)

“With that we are done.”(Narrator)

“Already?”(Star)

“Of course! I mean don't you have to get home soon before someone becomes overly worried?”(Narrator)

Looking at my phone I saw Suzi sent me over 80 messages. She even called twice.

“I need to go.”(Star)

“I know you do. Tell your mom I said high and be weary.”(Narrator)

“Why?”(Star)

“Sometimes the dead don’t like staying that way.”(Narrator)
