We ironed out a few more details with our new ship and we were told that it would take around five days for the ship to be ready.
Honestly, I was still surprised that something as big as a ship could be finished in as quickly as five days now.
When I asked, they told me that this was actually considered an above average time, more because this wasn't one of their main shipyards.
If I went to commission this in any of their shipyards located inside the inner colonies, I could possibly even get it even the very same day for a ship that size.
For reference, a battleship like the one we saw back at Cietai system might take a few months to a year to manufacture. Though more because they have to go through various testing phases before it can be considered complete than actually building it.
If it was just purely building the ship, the fastest they could do without extensive testing was about two to three months.
Apparently, this was because humanity had to learn how to mass produce ships as quickly as possible during all the wars we had where we were outnumbered by our foes.
We ended up streamlining the building process so much that we were basically throwing new ships into battle everyday.
Ironically, this was also one of the reasons why humanity managed to stand against the AI rebellion and overwhelmed them with sheer numbers that it shut down a lot of their cores due to the overload.
You might think that the production speed meant that there were compromises made to the quality. That was something I'm worried about as well but that seemed to not be the case.
In fact, human made ships actually outperform our neighbours in quite a few areas.
So if one wishes to get a ship quickly while still having it be reliable, most would find a human based manufacturer to make their ships.
Because of that, human ships are the most commonly seen around this part of the galaxy.
Naturally, there are still a few factors where other ships outperform ours, like Alvan ships generally needed way less maintenance and were made to last for a really long time. And by long, I mean like hundreds of years long.
Putting that aside, since we had placed our order with them, there was nothing to do but wait.
And since this was a shipyard, there weren't any accommodations for us so we had to leave.
Not that we had a problem with that since Linc Pleasure Station was just a short flight away. Which was why we were back here again.
As we disembarked from my ship to enter the station, I was once again greeted by the sights and sounds of a bustling station with various flashing lights and music.
Amber was already waiting for me at the bottom of my ramp, making me wonder if she always sprints here the moment her ship lands just so that she could greet me when I exit my ship.
"Tera~ I missed you~" She squealed, hugging me when I reached her.
"You were literally away for less than ten minutes…"
"I still missed you!! I can't wait to get the new ship since we will be able to disembark together after that! No more separating to dock at stations!"
Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
Not gonna lie, that would actually be pretty nice.
I definitely wouldn't admit to her since it would just make her cling to me even more but I do feel a little sad every time she needed to leave my ship when we docked at a station.
"Mmm~ So what are we doing for the next few days?" Amber asked, still hugging me.
I shrugged, "Whatever we want I suppose? We still have that extra Credits that Linc gave us to use in his station."
"Ohhh~ how about doubling that money at the casino?"
I bonked my blonde haired lover on the head, "There's no guarantee that we would be winning at all."
Amber giggled, "Oh, there's no guarantee that we would win… But you won all your bets Tera! I think you would be able to double our money there!"
Unexpectedly, Lea and Ries also nodded.
"I think so too, Mistress. You have been very lucky all this while. I do not believe that the luck would change now."
"I… I believe so too, boss! After joining you, I've already earned so much money and even got to have a workshop for myself! All of them things that I've spent several years trying to get but always failing until now!"
I can't even refute them because what they said was true…
But I believe that I shouldn't count on it too much because I believe relying too much on luck would actually turn it against you eventually and I'd rather not risk it.
"I'm gonna pass on that… Though I wouldn't mind taking a look around the place with you girls if you want to go play there."
"Boo… It's no fun if you aren't playing with us, Tera! At least join us when we play!" Amber protested.
I waved my hand at her, "Fine, fine… Just don't blame me if we start losing money, ok? And remember, we're only using the money Linc gave us, nothing more."
Amber smirked at me, "But that means if I were to use my own money to make the bets… It's fine, right?"
I grimaced, "Ughh… I'd rather you not waste your savings, Amber…"
"It's ok! Even if I become dirt poor, I can still cling to you! You won't throw me away… Right?"
I pinched her cheeks, "I will if you start acting like an idiot."
"Muaarrghh… But I'm an idiot in love with you!"
This girl…
I released her cheeks before turning towards the rest, "Let's drop our stuff at the apartment first. We'll be staying here for a few days anyway so there's no need to rush. I also need to place an order for the food we need to stock up our kitchens if I'm going to cook. Although I would actually like to try out their restaurants today if you girls don't mind?"
All three of them actually gave me a look of disappointment as soon as I said that.
"Do we really have to… Tera? We all know the food won't be as good as yours anyway…" Amber groaned.
Lea also agreed with her, "Mistress… I am not ashamed to admit that we have been thoroughly spoiled by your cooking… Anything else is just going to taste inferior at this point…"
Ries also nodded, "Plus… They definitely can't cook fish as well as you do, Boss!"
Unfortunately for them, I wasn't giving up this time because I was really hoping to at least find a competent chef somewhere where I could feel satisfied in knowing that the art of cooking wasn't completely lost.
Like come on, I wasn't even a professional chef in my own universe! All of my experience literally comes from cooking for myself or just my associates! I didn't even undergo professional training aside from some tutorial videos I've found on the internet!
I believe all we're getting are just bad examples so far and there's definitely someone who is still cooking normally! Otherwise, why would there still be companies making the proper cooking stoves instead of phasing them out in favour of those automated cooking machines, right?
That definitely means there's still some people purchasing them to make food so they can't be all bad!
Still… Looking at the three of them giving me pleading gazes, I couldn't just say no either…
I sighed, "Alright… Tell you girls what… We'll go try out some of their food and if it's not good enough, we'll go back to the apartment and I will make something for all of us to cleanse our palettes. How about that?"
Amber raised an eyebrow at me, "You do remember that's how you got roped into a cooking battle the last time, right?"
"It'll be different this time! I won't complain to the chef about the food if it's bad! We'll just eat and then leave!"
The three girls shared a look and I somehow knew that they felt things would definitely not go the way I was thinking it would for some reason.
Eventually, the three of them sighed simultaneously.
"Tera… Don't make more food than you need to feed us and the chef you would insult later."
"And please allow us to stay in the kitchen with you when the cooking battle is happening, Mistress."
"Umm… Could I ask that Boss makes something with fish when you are doing the cooking battle with the other chef?"
They're already acting like it was an unavoidable fact I would end up in a cooking battle if I were to go huh? How rude! I can control myself, ok!
Just you three watch! We're going to a restaurant right now to prove my point!
