I looked around the moment I landed, trying to see if there's any weapons around.
It seems like this game focuses more on realism since the weapons don't exist as floating objects above the ground but rather as objects placed on the floor with no indicators that they were even there.
If you're not observant enough, you would definitely miss finding these equipment.
Fortunately for me, I have played games with this kind of setting before so I was able to adapt quickly.
Which was how I quickly found a small pistol near me with its accompanying bullets laying near it.
I quickly snatched up the weapon and touched the ammo that was 'absorbed' into me. That was when I realised something popped up at the edge of my vision showing a counter as well as an icon of the pistol.
That must be my current equipped weapon as well as my bullet counter.
Looking at the rest of the roof, there doesn't seem to be anything else so I went towards the roof access intending to head downstairs.
As I reached for the door handle, it moved on its own and swung inwards, revealing another person standing behind it who seemed just as surprised to see me as I was to see them.
I only had a moment to recognise that this avatar did not look like the ones Amber, Lea or Ries was using before I raised my gun and shot him twice in the chest before raising it higher to shoot him twice more in the head.
The guy only had time to let out a cry of surprise before his body disappeared in a burst of particles.
Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed a notification pop up that showed player "TR" has killed player "Megaslaughter".
When we signed up for the contest, we were given the choice of what our name would be displayed on our scoreboard.
We opted to just abbreviate our names since we don't intend to be some kind of big shot here anyway. Thus I was "TR", Amber was "AB", Lea was "LA" and Ries was "RS".
I expected some of the participants to use either their real names or use pseudonyms but… Really? 'Megaslaughter'?
You know what, I'm not even going to comment on it.
I spied the icon at the bottom right corner that showed me I had eight bullets left in the magazine with forty eight more bullets left in reserve for the ballistic pistol.
I tried to eject out the magazine and the magazine that was ejected out disappeared before a new one appeared in my other hand out of thin air.
Ah, I see how this works. This was actually exactly the same as how the game would function so I was definitely used to this.
I slammed the new magazine into the pistol, not needing to cock it since it already had a round in the chamber. The number in my bottom right vision changed from eight and forty eight to twelve and forty four.
Good, this one is the same too. Unlike some games which would deduct the entire magazine's worth of bullets from your reserves when you reload even if you still had some ammo remaining in the magazine you just ejected.
I stepped past the doorway onto the rafters above what looked like some kind of factory. From here, I could see several contestants running around the place below clearly looking for weapons that they could use while several of them had already found some and were engaged in combat.
Since I only had a pistol, I kept myself under the cover of darkness and snuck along the rafters hoping there was a better weapon up here.

I saw one of the paths leading to a deadend that had something that looked like an industrial crate at the end and I suspected it would contain some kind of weapon or equipment inside.
The sounds of gunshots below muffled my footsteps as I made my way towards the crate, where I started inspecting how it operated.
There was a screen on it so I tapped my finger on it and… Several arrows popped up on the screen from left to right, each one pointing in one of four different directions.
Right… I guess I have to swipe in the direction of the arrows in order?
Alright, up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right and there we go. Too bad there wasn't a "B" or an "A" in there.
The box popped open and I peered inside it, smiling when I spotted a personal shield and an assault rifle inside.
I picked up the shield and found a slot on my waist specifically designed to hold it so I slotted that in.
A bar appeared on the bottom left of my vision which must indicate the integrity of the shield I was wearing.
I then move the pistol to my waist where a holster had materialised for me to place it before pulling out the ballistic rifle from within and touching the ammo to add it into my reserves.
I idly wondered how many weapons you were allowed to carry before making my way towards the rafters again where I had a full view of everyone below me.
None of them even noticed me as I took a moment to survey the area below me to prepare myself for my ambush.
Once I was sure of their locations, I popped out from behind my cover and started firing at the biggest threat first, which happened to be the guy who was using a sniper rifle while hiding in the corner of the building.
He didn't even have a shield yet so the first shot I aimed at his head pierced through his helmet and did critical damage to him.
Even though that would have been a fatal shot in real life, I know that this place operated on a health system which was why I shot the first guy in the head twice as well earlier. Thus, I sent another bullet his way, this one piercing through his neck.
The guy was still in the midst of falling over before his body disappeared, the rifle he had been holding dropping onto the ground with a loud clack.
A few of the contestants below looked up, only to see the barrel of my rifle pointed at them as I started raining down a hail of bullets on them.
I targeted the ones who already had weapons first, eliminating a good number of them quickly while the others who didn't have weapons quickly tried to escape.
I had to dive back into cover to reload, just in time as someone returned fire at me, their blaster shots piercing through the space where I had been just a few seconds ago.
Letting the empty magazine drop from its slot to disappear, I slammed in a fresh mag and cocked the rifle before crouch walking a few feet to the side and popping up once more.
They were still aiming at where I had been earlier so my position surprised them, giving me the time I needed to take down three more guys before I had to duck back under cover again to avoid their bullets.
Changing my mag to a new one again, I moved to another location while still hiding myself, waiting until I heard the gunshots wane indicating some of them had emptied their bullets before I leapt out from my cover, descending towards the floor below.
I had already eliminated the ones furthest away from me so the remaining enemies were right under me, making it difficult for me to shoot them from above without exposing myself.
Incidentally, the place where I chose to jump out from had one guy directly below me so landed on top of him, smashing the poor guy flat on the ground.
I didn't waste the chance to fire a few rounds into the guy's head and turn him into particles before diving towards cover to avoid the bullets shot my way.
I lifted my gun in midair to aim and he world seemed to slow down slightly as I lined up my shot with my shooter.
Two shots to his head and he was eliminated before I hit the ground.
Rolling behind cover, I mentally counted down from five before popping out of my cover, surprising another enemy who was in the midst of deciding if he should approach my hiding place.
That guy got five shots in the chest before he was eliminated and I shifted positions to catch another guy trying to flank me from the other side, surprising him with two shots in the head and knocking him out of the competition as well.
My shield flared as a few shots landed on it, prompting me to dive back into cover as a guy with a pistol fired his weapon at me.
My concentration shifted to the bottom left of my view to see that only a quarter of my shield was emptied so I was considering charging out and rushing him since my shield could tank the hits when a shotgun blast made me pause.
Looking at the top right of my vision, someone else just got killed and I'm assuming the pistol guy got wiped by the shotgun guy.
Now instead of rushing out, I peeked again and sure enough, a guy with a shotgun was there.
Both of us fired at the same time but at this distance, I had the upper hand as only a few of his pellets hit my shield while all my shots found their mark.
He also had a shield so it took about seven shots to break it before I managed to kill him with another four shots from my rifle.
I ducked back into cover and reloaded, popping up to survey the surroundings only to see it empty.
Ok, so far so good. Time to loot their dead bodies of better equipment and ammo before I go.
I hope the others are ok…
At least I haven't seen their names come up as one of the people who were eliminated for now…
