They're Adorable Killers

I looked back at the three girls standing behind me, all of them hiding behind the cages that I had released the dogs from.

Meanwhile, the two dogs were standing by my flanks, waiting for my next order after I told them to 'heel'.

Lea wasn't as sure about making use of the dogs for this as the other two were but she did not try to dissuade me from doing it either.

Either way, the EMP already knocked out our generators so we would still have to fight the boarders anyway, which was why all of them were taking cover with their weapons drawn in case they need to jump into the fight as well.

Right now, we were all gathered in front of the entrance hatch as the pirate ship had already pulled up beside our ship.

They were using a tractor beam to keep themselves anchored to our ship while also preventing us from running away if we somehow got our ship's generators running again.

Peeking at our external cameras, I see at least three pirates in space suits floating over towards us.

I wasn't really sure how I should control the dogs and neither do the others.

Amber told me to just command them to attack as soon as the pirates got through the door.

Thus, I had chosen to stand in front of the door with the two dogs in front of me acting as my guards while the pirates were trying to hack the door to open it.

The dogs seemed to know what was going on as they stood up from their sitting positions to glare at the door, baring their teeth in a threatening pose.

A few minutes passed and the door started to hiss before cycling open.

The moment the door slid to the side, three men still wearing their spacesuits immediately rushed in while brandishing their guns.

"Nobody mo--"

"Go!" I yelled.

The dogs leapt forward at the intruders, moving faster than I thought they could.

The pirate that had wanted to threaten us widened his eyes when he saw the golden retriever lunging towards him.

He tried to point his rifle at the dog but the goldie's jaws reached him before the gun could even move that far.

The goldie bit down on his arm with a sickening crunch, completely crushing his arm and forcing him to drop his weapon.

As if that wasn't enough for the goldie, she bit down even harder and the spacesuit the pirate was wearing was torn open.

The pirate let out a scream of pain as the goldie used her paw to push against him as leverage to tear off his arm, her head rearing back and pulling his severed arm away like it was made of tofu.

On the other side, the beagle went for the one in the centre, pouncing directly on his chest and kicking his rifle away before he could raise it.

The pirate let out a fearful scream as he saw the beagle raise her paw to smack at his helmet.

If that had been a normal beagle, I would have expected that to just be a playful smack and nothing more.

Instead, the glass on his helmet completely shattered and there was even a paw sized dent at where the beagle had struck him.

If you discover this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.

She then dove towards his neck and bit him in the jugular, crushing the spacesuit and his throat at the same time.

The last pirate managed to raise his rifle to point at the beagle to try and save his friend, only for a severed arm to be thrown in his face and knocking him stumbling back, courtesy of the goldie.

That gave the beagle the time she needed to pull her head forward, separating the pirate's head from his neck as if she was pulling a chew toy apart.

The goldie then kicked the first pirate to launch herself towards the last pirate, pouncing on his chest and pushing him down on the ground.

He flailed his arms, trying to get the goldie off of him only for her headbut him.

The helmet cave in and the force sent his head smashing back into the ground, knocking him out cold with a single blow.

The goldie was not satisfied with simply knocking him out as she stood on the pirate's chest and took a bite out of his chest piece and tore it open to expose the pirate's torso and the bottom of his neck.

She then dove in under the suit and clamped her jaws around his neck, causing the pirate to regain consciousness from the pain and letting out a fearful scream.

The scream turned into a choked gasp as the goldie tightened her grip on his neck before pulling back, tearing off a chunk of his neck along with it.

While that pirate was gurgling in his death throes, the beagle left the decapitated pirate aside and went ahead to finish off the first pirate that was still alive.

He tried to reach for his gun with his remaining hand but the beagle lunged for it faster than he could reach it.

As though to mock him, she picked up the gun in her jaws and looked at him in the eye before crushing the weapon in between her teeth.

The pirate shifted his gaze to me and I think he was hoping that I would show him some mercy but I was still in shock at how brutal the dogs were massacring these pirates to even notice him at that point.

The beagle must have thought he was trying to threaten me instead as she immediately lunged for the pirate's face and pushed him down on the ground.

He screamed and tried to punch the beagle in the side, causing me to take a step forward as I thought that would have hurt the dog.

Instead, the beagle looked more annoyed than hurt at the punch and even turned around to bite on his wrist when he tried to punch her again, tearing off his hand with ease.

Satisfied that he wouldn't be able to punch her again, the beagle turned her attention back on her prey and proceeded to tear open his neck unceremoniously.

The two remaining pirates fell limp at the same time, leaving behind three dead corpses at the entry hatch of my ship.

The goldie and the beagle stood over the pirates for a moment, as though making sure that they were really dead before they turned back and walked towards me with their tails wagging happily behind them.

If it wasn't the fact that they were all bloodied from the massacre, you might think they had just finished playing and were heading back home instead.

Both sat down in front of me and I blinked at them before I started to pat their heads.

Their tails wagged even faster and it would have looked pretty cute if you just ignored the blood that was caked on their fur.

Ugh… I guess we're going to need to give them a bath… Or more accurately, I guess I would need to do it.

Ries peeked over the top of her hiding spot, "Boss… Have you changed your mind about those dogs?"

I scratched both of the dogs under their chins while answering, "Does it look like it's changed? Sure, I know that they have the strength and capability to rip me to shreds if they wanted to… But they're still cute, though?"

Lea visibly shuddered, "Captain… I sincerely believe that you might be the only person around who would think that they are cute…"

Amber stood up from behind the cages, "Tera, seriously… You just saw them rip those three pirates apart and you're still patting them like it's nothing?"

I raised an eyebrow at her, "I've seen what you did with that Pirate Lord and I still think you're hot."

"Ngghh… Touche… So what are we going to do with these pirates? Are we going to board them as wel--"

Before she could finish her words, our ship suddenly shook and I went over to the monitor to look at the external camera feed.

What I saw was the pirate ship pulling away and releasing their tractor beam on us, their engines already firing up to boost their ship away from ours.

Damn… I guess they must already know that their comrades who boarded our ship got killed and they're planning to run away.

"Lea, man the guns, shoot them down," I ordered.

The Alv immediately leapt over her cover and gave the dogs as wide a berth as possible to reach the cockpit.

Just as the pirate ship started to power up their engines into travel drive mode, Lea fired the railgun at them.

The projectile hit them through one of their thrusters, piercing through the centre of the ship and splitting it in half.

There was a spark at the engine area of their ship before the entire vessel exploded into pieces.

Well… I guess that's dealt with… Now we need to clean my ship…

I guess even in this universe, dogs still make a mess, huh?
