We walked past the checkpoint that scanned us for any weapons and combat implants at the entrance before we stepped out of the hangar and into the streets of the Pleasure Station.
It definitely looks like I've just entered some kind of adult theme park…
The area directly outside the hangar seemed to be a hub of sorts and several paths diverged from the hub to lead in different directions, each path framed with a doorway with a different type of design for each of them.
Beside each of the doorways were what looked like translucent tracks with some kind of egg shaped vehicle, which I assumed was a train of some sort, hovering above said track. Even as I watched, the side of the egg slid open and people were entering and exiting the vehicle in droves.
I'm guessing that's like a train or something that allows people to get around the station?
The hub itself was already quite intricately decorated with statues, performers and light shows in the form of holograms and lasers being projected all around the area.
The performers were also dressed quite provocatively and showed a lot of skin which drew quite a big crowd to watch them.
Looking at the paths that diverged from the hub, I realised that they led to different 'districts' which had different specialties to them.
One of them was clearly the gambling district with how the entrance had a hologram of a pair of dice and a roulette being spun, telling me that some things still remained the same even in this universe.
Another district was probably the alcohol or clubs where a hologram of a beer bottle and a pole dancer was being projected at the entrance.
The one next to it must be the red light district since the hologram was a woman laying in a provocative pose with one of her legs stretching out towards the viewer. Opposite her was a hologram of a half naked dude in the middle of tearing his shirt open to display his muscled chest.
And the last one was… I guess the drug district? At least that's what I assume that place to be since the hologram was of some woman smoking on what I guess must be a pipe or something. I doubt the district was just something as simple as for smoking so it must be related to drugs.
I looked at my companions, "So where are we going first? This is all new to me."
Amber grinned, "Well~ What would you like to do first? We could get high, get drunk, get sexy or get rich~"
'Get sexy'? Oh… I get it… But really?
Also, I really doubt we would get rich either if we're going to gamble... I think we would get poorer instead…
But then again… We did receive a bunch of free money that we can make use of… Only question is whether we should take that risk?
I looked at the others and Ries immediately waved her hand in front of her, "I don't really have an interest in these kinds of places, Boss. I'm content with just following you."
Lea also shrugged, "As am I, Captain."
"Wait, I thought you were really against gambling? I'm surprised you didn't say anything about that."
"With Captain's luck, I would say that my concerns would be completely useless anyway."
What the heck is that supposed to mean?
If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
Ah fuck it, let's just go to each district in order starting from the left I guess? Since I'm already here, I might as well just check them all out.
I'm also a little interested in that arena that Amber found but I'm not sure where that is. If I assume that they would be taking bets for it… The gambling district would be the most possible location for it anyway.
Our group went over to the path that had the holograms of the dice and roulette table, joining the crowd that were also heading there.
I pointed at the train at the side, "What's this for?"
"The station's quite big so they have their own transport system I guess?" Amber suggested.
Lea looked at a holographic board beside the train platform, "It seems like it runs through the districts of the station… It will stop at a place called 'The Arena' as the final station before coming back here. There's also stations that it shares with the other districts so we could also use this to get around the rest of the station, Captain."
Oh, that's convenient. That means we wouldn't need to come all the way back to this hub to access the other districts.
Then again, I guess that makes sense since it would not be good for business if you restrict the customers' ease in spending their money after all.
For now, we don't need to take this train since we're here to explore anyway and the train would not allow us to do that.
Thus, we made our way into the district on foot and… Well… If I couldn't guess that it was a gambling area from the holograms earlier, I could definitely tell it was now.
Stepping past the doorway, I found myself standing in what was definitely a casino with all the slot machines, roulette tables and even card tables.
There were some areas that seemed to be fenced off by a fence made out of holographic light as well and I would have thought those were restricted areas if there weren't guests walking in and out of those areas freely.
I turned to the girls, "Shall we split up? We've got five million Credits so I'll split it to give each of us a million Credits and leave one million in reserve for us to play with. How about that?"
Amber giggled, "Oh~ Are you sure you want to set me loose, Tera? I might come back with twice the money you gave me!"
I rolled my eyes at her before handing them Credit Chips filled with a million Credits each, "Sure, sure. Go and have fun and be careful ok? Call me on my terminal if you need anything."
Somehow, I feel like the parent that is giving the kids spending money at an amusement park before setting them loose.
The three of them took the Credit Chips from me and… Remained where they were.
I blinked at them, "Are you not going?"
Amber grinned, "Oh, we are going, Tera~ It's just that our destination just so happens to match yours!"
…
If you just wanted to follow me, you could have just said so, you know? I only made that suggestion because I thought they might also want to go and play on their own as well.
Oh well, then I guess the first thing I want to check out is one of those fenced off areas since I'm curious what kind of event they were having behind those fences.
As I got close to it, the sounds of cheers and shouts reached my ears as well as pained grunts and groans.
I crossed the fence to realise that there was some kind of hole in the ground and there was a crowd standing over the hole and cheering at the hole.
There was a solid but translucent wall of light around the hole to prevent guests from falling into said hole but it still allowed us to look inside it at least.
I quickly realised that it was a fighting pit and the people here must be betting on the fighters on who would win.
Instead of having normal people fighting however, the combatants look to be small robots that were being controlled by two opposing teams on each side of the pit.
Right now, the two robots that were fighting was a humanoid looking figurine while the other was a box shaped car with arms that had saws jutting out from the top.
They were already in the middle of a fight as the humanoid robot had used its hands to grab all of its opponent's chainsaw arms to stomp on the body of the vehicle itself.
There was already a dent in the armour and the guy controlling the car was desperately trying to make his robot break free from his opponent.
He tried to get his contraption to reverse but the humanoid robot simply used that chance to tear off its arms, leaving its opponent defenceless.
The finisher came when it leapt into the air and slammed its elbow down on the opponent, completely flattening it with its weight.
There were curses and cheers mixed in amongst the audience and several of them walked out of the pit.
A well dressed man then stepped onto a platform and spoke towards the crowd, "That was an exciting match isn't it, folks?! Remember there's also the Bot Fight in the Arena district where life-sized bots would be duking it out at higher stakes! Don't miss out on that!"
They actually have robot arenas huh… I assume they would have real steel robots boxing each other or something.
It really feels like they basically made anything and everything that could be gambled on present here…
Guess I shouldn't be surprised.
Now the question is… Which one do I play first?
