CHAPTER FIFTY TWO
Don’t leave anything untried before you’ve even died
~
Twig’s eye looked around as the whole world began to slow
Feeling like a lifetime passed while watching seconds go
Cursing his own weakness as he waited for the end
Despite his strength he lacked the will to save a single friend
Leaf would lose his leg before too long and shortly die
He turned his eye toward the sleeping and defenceless Sky
He’d spent so long imagining his own death in this place
But suddenly he thought what death would look like on Sky’s face
A pack of Dark Wolves approached her while she lay their peacefully
And Twig had time to imagine what his eye would soon see
One of them looked over and he met its evil stare
And still he saw the eyes of that pathetic, dying bear
Achievement: Please!
I’ve told you many times to die, and honestly you should
But watching your friends right there die won’t do you any good
Did you come out here to see some monster eat your friend?!
Who cares how you’re feeling, that’s someone you must defend!
Twig let out a cry that caught the wolves’ attention fast
“How long does this wretched fate I’m living have to last!”
This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.
He jumped up off the ground at once and while he screamed he cried
He kicked the monster biting his friend ruthlessly aside
It took a chunk of Leaf’s leg with it as it flew up high
But it left behind it’s life, and then Twig turned to Sky
The Dark Wolf Leader noticed Twig and menacingly growled
But when Twig’s fist met it’s hard head it whimpered and it howled
The Leader backed away but soon the other wolves attacked
The first of many monsters that his shouting would attract
He punched and kicked a wave of monsters that would never end
Leaf could only crawl to Sky and look up at his friend
With just his one good hand he punched a wolf right in its head
And before it had hit the ground, it was already dead
A goblin tried to slit his throat with a crude little knife
But when he noticed it his punch relieved it of its life
From every direction, monsters came but still he fought
Some tried to attacked his injured friends, but they were caught
He roared as if trying to speak the language of his foes
But still there was no way to bring the battle to a close
“I’m pretty sure that’s Twig, but something seems a little weird
Anyway, just head get moving the way seems to have cleared”
Leaf looked down in shock to see Sky pointing at past a tree
Having noticed an opening they could use to flee
Achievement: A Chance!
Did you hear what Sky just said? Get moving right away!
Pick them up and run faster than you have run all day
The monster corpses should distract most of beasts for now
It looks like you might just get out of this mess somehow
He didn’t question what the message said, he took his chance
He put sky on his shoulders while more wolves made their advance
Leaf, he picked up by the waist beneath his one good arm
And ran with the determination to keep them from harm
Leaf was winded by the sudden grip around his waist
And glanced behind him to confirm if they were being chase
But what he saw behind him made him wish he hadn’t checked
The scene unfolding back there had a sickening affect
In the chaos, many monsters gave up on the fight
And dug into their fallen monster comrades with delight
He closed his eyes in horror at the monsters’ grotesque feast
Happy that it wasn’t him being eaten at least
