CHAPTER FIFTY ONE

Was this all to get my hopes up, where does this joke end?

~

With Sky upon his back all Leaf could do was stand and wait

He might’ve had a chance before but now it was too late

A big Red Panther pounced and he just closed his eyes in fear

Expected that its roar would be the last thing that he’d hear

But when it didn’t reach him and instead he heard it cry

He opened up his eyes, confused to see Twig stand and sigh

The monster, now in pain beneath a tree, let out a groan

In front of Leaf, Twig stood with his extended fist, alone

The monsters didn’t share Leaf’s daft expression and dismay

And soon another portal monster was heading their way

But this time his observed Twig turn to coldly face the foe

And punch it with a strength he didn’t have just days ago

Instinctively he used appraisal to observe the fight

Hoping that perhaps some blue screens might help shed some light

But all that he confirmed was that the fearsome beast was strong

And Twig’s screen obviously still had something very wrong

A creature home to mountains where it hunts its prey in packs

Its difficult to predict any Rat Lion’s attacks

They may not be smarter than a rat, but stay alert

If it doesn’t bite you, its long tail can sting and hurt

No child should have been able to repel so strong a beast

Strength like that took twenty years or so at least

One on one, Leaf may have managed to catch it off guard

But even young pebble couldn’t punch something that hard

Lost in thought, another two big monsters came their way

Leaf had nowhere else to go, so in that spot he’d stay

Another Red Panther came first but Twig just grabbed its throat

And slammed it down atop an incoming Bone Eating Goat

This monster could run through a forest, full of big tall trees

Running through whatever object blocked its path with ease

Even dragons’ bones would break if hit with so much force

It’s jaws can chew through bone and its as fast as a knight’s horse

The two monsters collapsed into a pile and ceased to move

Leaf wondered what Twig had done to so quickly improve

But as Twig stood before the monsters he’d just had to kill

His face contorted like he was just about to be ill

He stumbled backward, bumping into Leaf along the way

Who fumbled with his words while searching for something to say

But while Twig toppled over, throwing up upon the ground

A Fang Rabbit bit into Leafs leg, flinging him around

In the chaos, Leaf dropped Sky while trying to break free

The Monster had a firm grip upon the young speedster’s knee

He screamed so loud in pain, it seemed to make the forest ring

Twig felt cold and trembled as he heard his friend screaming

Achievement: Fight!

I’ll only tell you this one time, because time’s running low

Killing isn’t easy for the average new hero

But if you don’t get over all the guilt and pain you feel

You’re going to watch both your friends be killed in this ordeal

The words jumped off the screen into Twig’s young conflicted mind

Telling him to leave the guilt of killing things behind

The first kind words of genuine advice his god had said

But he was too weak, so he and his friends would soon be dead
