Chapter 22: Serial Killers

One week later…

[The 7th Tutorial will now begin.]

In the center of Shroom Village, the portal to the 7th Tutorial Dungeon appeared.

Just like that, players entered the dungeon and started the Tutorial.

A minute later…

Inside the 7th Tutorial Dungeon, channel number #10,781.

[Welcome to the Maze Mansion!]

In the center of the Maze Mansion, a spacious garden unfolded, featuring a colossal water fountain at its center. Players gradually spawned one by one, surrounding this majestic fountain.

After a short while, a total of 100 players arrived at Maze Mansion.

The garden was exceptionally beautiful, adorned with flowers of every color, charming tiny trees, and lush green grass. Its stunning allure resembled a scene from a fantasy story.

[Quest: Stay alive for five days.]

“Stay alive for five days..?”

“Shit, another survival quest again…”

“Hmm, don’t tell me it’s going to be the same as the previous Tutorial where monsters only come out at night… Well, I hope not because I hate fighting in the dark…”

[Quest Hints: Remember to remain cautious at all times. Only trust yourself.]

“Quest Hints? That’s the first time I’ve ever heard the system giving us hints.”

“I don’t know why, but I have a bad feeling about this…”

“Relax, bro. We got this! Just don’t let your guard down, and we’ll be fine.”

A few hours passed…

At the moment, players could be seen exploring the Maze Mansion. So far, no one has encountered any monsters or faced any dangers yet.

For the time being, it appeared very peaceful. In fact, the tranquility unnerved everyone, as they were uncertain when danger might strike.

“Hey, don’t you think it’s too peaceful? I mean, who are we watching out for anyway?”

“Well, let’s wait until nighttime and see.”

“Yeah, it could be like the previous Tutorial where monsters only come out at night.”

Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.

Two days later…

Even after two days, it still remained peaceful, and nothing noteworthy had happened yet.

At this point, many players were starting to think that maybe the system might be pranking them. For two days, everyone had remained on high alert, yet nothing noteworthy had occurred. Despite the opportunity to sleep, they chose to stay awake continuously because of what they heard from the Quest Hints.

At this moment, among the 100 players, approximately five players received a secret message from the system:

[You have been chosen to play the role of a serial killer. To complete the quest, you must kill at least 10 players. Only you can see this message.]

[Time Limit: Three days]

[Player Kill: 0/10]

‘No way…!’

‘What the fuck?! I have to kill 10 players to complete the quest?!’

‘Fuck! Why me?! Why did the system choose me to become a serial killer?! Agh! I can’t believe this!’

The chosen five players were displeased with their designation. Furthermore, the system deliberately selects players with benevolent hearts to take on the role of a serial killer, thereby forcing these five chosen players to engage in activities beyond their comfort zones.

Later, at around midnight…

Inside the mansion, in one of the bedrooms, Dragonire awoke and made his way to the bathroom. While relieving himself, his stomach started growling.

GROWL!!!

‘Huh? I thought I just ate like six hours ago…’

Seated on the toilet bowl, Dragonire decided to attend to matters first before making his way to the kitchen for another meal again.

At this moment, he suddenly heard people screaming outside. 'Hmm, what is happening outside..?' he wondered.

Meanwhile, outside in the hallways area.

“Aaaaaaaaaaaghhh!!! Someone help me!!!”

“Nooooo!!! Don’t kill meee!!!”

“Both of you, shut your mouth and die!!!”

A serial killer claimed the lives of two players.

Meanwhile, in one of the bedrooms, five more players were killed in their sleep by a serial killer.

Within the garden area, another four more players met their demise at the hands of a serial killer.

“What’s wrong with you?! Why are you doing this?!”

“Forgive me! I don’t have a choice!”

“Nooooo!!! Aaaaghh—!”

Blood splattered everywhere.

Meanwhile, in the kitchen area, once again three more players were killed by yet another serial killer.

In a mere five-minute span, a staggering total of 28 players lost their lives. The majority of these unfortunate individuals were caught completely off guard, leading to their swift and unexpected demise.

Due to the commotion, many players woke up to check what was going on. Because of this, the five serial killers decided to halt their killing spree for today. With everyone awake, it was too risky to continue, so they planned to resume their activities again tomorrow.

After Dragonire finished relieving himself, he stood up and made his way to the kitchen area to search for something to eat. While sitting at the kitchen table, he overheard the conversations of other players.

‘So it started, huh? I knew it… If it wasn’t monsters killing us, then it’s other players.’ Dragonire thought.

Dragonire wasn't surprised; he had a feeling that something like this was bound to happen. After all, all the Tutorials he has cleared up until now were never easy, and there would always be players dying no matter what.

Twelve hours later…

The same day, during the daytime, numerous players gathered in the garden area to discuss the current situation. The only player who didn't show up was Dragonire. It seemed that Dragonire didn’t care and was just relaxing in his room, sipping hot tea with milk, and reading books.

The next day at around midnight…

After what happened yesterday, many players were on their guard now. As a result, the five serial killers had a hard time finding an isolated player to kill.

Furthermore, today was the fourth day, and the serial killers only had about one day left to complete the quest. If they do not finish it in time, failure awaits them, and failure means death penalty.
