“Hobgoblin Apocalypse?!” exclaimed a player.
“Sounds like “Zombie Apocalypse”, but instead of zombies, they replaced it with Hobgoblins.”
“Idiot! Now’s not the time to talk! They’re coming, so get ready!”
During this time, the entire city’s lights turned off, making it really dark for the players to see anything.
“Huh?! What happened to the city’s light?! Why is it turned off?!”
“Damn it! This doesn’t look good!”
“Everyone, calm down and focus! If you have any skills that generate light, use it now!”
The only light source the players had was the half moon in the sky. Unfortunately, the half moon doesn’t generate enough light for the players to see clearly, but nevertheless, it still helped a bit.
In the distance, a 10-feet-tall Hobgoblin Chief cast a dark spell “Full Moon,” a buff skill that increases the battle power of all Hobgoblins by double.
When the dark spell ‘Full Moon’ was cast, in an instant, high up in the sky, the moon began to transition from a half-moon to a full moon.
[Full Moon Effect: Increase all Hobgoblins battle power by 100%.]
None of the players knew what the full moon was for, except for the Hobgoblins themselves.
What are Hobgoblins? In this world, Hobgoblins are not significantly different from Goblins, except for their height, which tends to be taller, averaging 6 feet and above, and their increased intelligence. In terms of skin color, they share the same green hue as Goblins.
[Hobgoblins Killed: 0/50,000]
“50,000?! Damn, that’s a lot!” exclaimed a player in the crowd.
“Fucking hell! I can’t believe we have to kill 50,000 of them!” vented another player.
At this moment, an announcement from the system appeared:
[Quest Instruction: Killing 50,000 Hobgoblins is not required, you just need to stay alive until morning. All Hobgoblins will despawn once the morning sun rises.]
“Stay alive until morning?” questioned one player.
“Oh, so we don’t have to kill them all?” remarked another player.
“Well, that’s easy for me then. As an Assassin, hiding is my speciality so this is going to be fun.” declared the Assassin player.
“Dammit! I’m so jealous! Man, I wish I could change my class to Assassin just for this Tutorial. Oh well, wishful thinking but whatever, it is what it is.”

High up inside a 5-star hotel building, Dragonire had already finished taking a bath. Currently, he was inside an elevator, descending toward the 15th floor where the 'Game Room Center' was at.
THUMP!!!
Suddenly, the elevator stopped working, and the lights went out. It was pitch black inside, and Dragonire could barely see anything.
‘Huh? What’s going on? Is there a power outage or something?’
Dragonire was disappointed; he was actually on his way to the Game Room Center to play some arcade games, but it looked like now he couldn't.
Of course, he had heard about the Hobgoblin Apocalypse, but he wasn't interested so it didn’t matter.
‘Well, this sucks… I was looking forward to playing some arcade games but it looks like now I’m stuck here— Oh wait, nevermind.’ He thought he would be trapped inside the elevator, but then he remembered he was a player, not an ordinary human.
With all his might, he punched the elevator door.
BOOOOMM!!!
CLANG!!!
The force of his punch sent the elevator door flying, crashing into the wall in front of him. With this, he walked out of the elevator and arrived on the 24th floor.
‘Hmm… If I’m not wrong, this is the 24th floor, right?’ Unfortunately, it was too dark to see anything, so he wasn’t even sure if this was the 24th floor or not.
‘Fuck… I can’t see anything, it’s so dark here. Not gonna lie, this kind of situation reminds me of those horror games I played back in my high school years, and I can’t believe it’s actually happening to me right now.’
Out of nowhere:
RAAARRRR!!!
KRAARRRR!!!
GRAARRRR!!!
‘Speaking of the devil, looks like they are here…’
The Hobgoblins had arrived.
‘Shit… this isn’t looking good, there’s no way I can win against them in the dark. Well, let’s hope they don’t have night vision or else I’ll be fucked—’
Out of nowhere, an arrow struck his left eye. “Aaaaaaaaaghhh!!! My eyes!!”
‘Motherfucker! So they do have night vision after all! Fuck, this is bad! I have to get out of here!’
Suddenly, another arrow struck again, this time hitting his right leg.
“Aaaaaaaarghhhhh!! Son of a bitch!!!”
TIME FREEZE!
[You have cast Time Freeze, time will stop for 10 seconds starting from now.]
During this time, Dragonire quickly grabbed the arrow in his left eye and pulled it out. Of course, he did the same with his right leg as well and pulled out the arrow.
‘There's no time! I need to find a room quickly and hide for the time being. I must buy some time for my right leg to heal first before I can start moving again.’
[8 seconds remaining before time will resume.]
Touching the walls, Dragonire somehow managed to find a nearby room and entered it. Afterward, he quickly locked the door and opened the balcony window. The purpose of opening the window was to trick them into believing he had jumped off the balcony, but in reality, he planned to hide under a bed.
[Time Freeze has ended. Time will now resume.]
[Time Freeze’s Cooldown: 65 seconds remaining.]
‘Can’t believe I’m actually experiencing real-life horror survival games right now. Who would’ve thought that darkness would be my greatest enemy...'
BAAMM!!!
The room door was blasted open, and seven Hobgoblins came in, beginning to search the room.
During this time, Dragonire’s heart was beating fast—a rhythm of both fear and excitement.
‘This is actually terrifying yet fun. So this is how it feels to play horror survival games in real life, huh?’
