Chapter 59, More Power
----------------------------------------
...
"Come to me at 2 O' clock, and I'll start teaching you." Amon said to Adam who was about to continue his workout.
"Yes sir!" He responded. As Adam was leaving, Amon looked at the sky above him and disappeared.
...
Amon appeared in the sky, so high in the air that the only thing he could see were the enormous mountain peaks of the world, and the layer of clouds beneath them. What truly surprised him was the existence that seemed to wander the earth, far off in the distance.
Just from being able to see so far, he could tell this world was unbelievably big, but even this giant shocked him more.
It was a black skeleton-like being that wore a robe which exposed its empty stomach. It's hood covered it's entire face, leaving only a dark shadow, and a red line which Amon assumed to be it's eyes.
The amount of Magicka this skeleton had flowing through it's bones was almost suffocating. He could tell it was dozens of times stronger than him, and he was afraid.
He could also feel a kind of aura emitting from it that felt similar to his own, though it was stronger.
"[True Almighty Magic]?" He muttered through his bated breaths.
That was his guess.
According to what he theorized, [Nigh-Almighty Magic] was the ability to do almost anything one could do with magicka, if they had enough energy to do so. But he felt like this giant could do anything it could do with magicka, even if it didn't have the capacity.
"Pluto, is my name." A deep and terrifying voice sounded in Amon's ears, making him stiff. He zoomed in on "Pluto'' and looked.
It was staring right at him, even though they seemed to be on separate halves of the world, they still made eye contact.
It's eyes shone, and a red beam shot towards Amon. With quick movement, he dodged , and watched as it hit a mountain way behind him, flattening it.
"I congratulate you, not many get the chance to see me up here and live." The same voice spoke, making Amon turn around. He watched as Pluto glared at him one last time before turning away and walking.
'What the hell was that feeling?!' Amon panicked, sweat dropping down his face.
When he was talking to Adam he felt a calling of sorts that came from above the clouds, and once he was there, he was greeted by the monster- or even, God of a being.
Pulling himself out of his stupor, he flew back down to the clearing, getting used to his new magic, and calming his mind.
'I Can't believe I thought I was strong...' He chuckled.
He was just humbled by a God-like being, he really underestimated how powerful they would be. He thought being Nigh-Omnipotent with magic alone would make him one of the strongest, but now it was clear to him he wasn't thinking very clearly.
'There could very well be ways to nullify my strength, and there's most likely other types of energies.' He thought, looking for a way to gain strength and get rid of his weaknesses.
"Sir, you wouldn't mind teaching me earlier would you?!" Adam spoke loudly as he watched Amon float towards the ground.
The young man was an hour early, despite Amon having set a designated time.
"It looks like you're more eager than I thought!" Amon chuckled, touching down on the ground.
He looked at Adam who sat on the wooden bench near the pond, a puddle of sweat and water beneath him.
'This is some serious resolve...' Amon thought, walking towards him.
Adam would most likely think he could at least get powerful with mana and he may be able to wield Magicka and gain power similar to Amon's.
"Stand." Amon motioned, forcing Adam to stand without making any physical contact.
He had been too invested in his magic, so he knew that this spar would sort of be training for the both of them.
"Alright, come at me!" He said, raising his arms as a signal.
Seeing how the first thing the two would do was fight, Adam assumed that fighting experience is what increased the strength of peoples mana, or it was just absorbed from some sort of physical contact.
Leaving his thoughts, Adam obeyed Amon's orders and dashed forward. He kept to Amon's left side and didn't allow him to leave his sights. As he approached a distance he deemed suitable, he kicked off the ground with all his strength and quickly appeared on Amon's right, who was still looking the other way.
His fist was balled as it swung towards the face in front of him with immense speed and strength, creating an incredible gust of wind.
*BOOM*
Adam's hand throbbed, causing him to retreat to a safe distance.
'What the fuck?' He thought, looking at his mangled fist, the damage evident.
He felt the pain in his palm and wanted to stop the spar immediately, but he could also feel a sliver of ecstasy travel through his body.
'Is it really absorbed through combat?' Adam, thought before the pain truly surfaced.
"FUCK!" He screamed, kneeling instantly. It felt like everything in his hand had shattered, tore, and broke. His entire arm went limp as he looked back up at Amon, who had the same carefree smile as earlier.
"Don't think just because I am your instructor, I won't hurt you." He winked, twirling his hand at the same time.
It was as if the time on Adam's hand was sped up. It was healed but it still held scars, though he could use it perfectly fine if not better.
For some reason, the flexibility his fingers gained seemed unreal, and even his wrist bent in ways he thought impossible.
Amon once again told him to come and like before he listened.
He reluctantly complied, and dashed at him and approached soon enough, rapidly throwing punches at his stomach since it was hard enough to hit his face without jumping.
Each connection sent a ray of energy through his fists and into his body, but his knuckles were increasingly becoming bruised.
"I see you're taking advantage of this, but I am your enemy, not a training dummy." An intense feeling sprouted throughout Adam's being, making him duck instantly.
If you spot this story on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
Where his head was previously, was a fist, and after a few seconds passed, the trees where the hand was aimed, were completely obliterated.
"Nice dodge!"
...
...
As the fight progressed, Adam continued to gain mana, and Amon continued to fight back more and more.
After an hour Adam was laying in the pond, his body spotted with purple and even caved in in some parts.
Despite the evident beating his body took, it emanated a green energy that made the pond glow.
Throughout the fight, Amon absorbed the mana inside the air and filtered it with his body. It was then released through contact with Adam as a stronger version, but still manageable by those much weaker than him.
In turn, Adam's body was strengthened with each punch he landed, and received, increasing the reserves that flowed through his body, and strengthening his physical form even more.
When Adam awoke, he would teach him how to tap into this energy, form it, and control it. His fighting style was already decent, and this enhancement would make him even stronger.
Amon had arrived in front of the pond and watched Adam float in it, his dented body healing slowly. He had also let his own magicka alter Adam's cells and give him a naturally sped regeneration. He would even heal much better than others.
However, he didn't want to leave him in this pond while his body recovered, so he pulled him out.
Adam was dragged through the air all the way towards his study where he was plopped on a bed. '
Now, I need to increase my own strength. Having Magicka as my only form of offense won't suffice against some.'
"How did it feel..."
...
----------------------------------------
...
Amon was sitting in a massive cavern he had created under the clearing, it would now be the place where he stored some artifacts and abilities. He really did plan to become some powerful god like being, so these could at least be left behind or given to those he deemed worthy.
He was planning to use his adaptability to strengthen the energies he would discover for himself.
He was focusing on the air around him, feeling for the concepts around him. He used every fiber of his being to search the "empty" space around him, and he unknowingly created something new.
[New Enhancement developed!]
[Enhancement: Third Eye (S)]
[Power combination! New Ability created!]
[Enhancement: Three Prying Eyes (SS)]
Amon who hadn't noticed the new ability was taken by surprise when his vision became much clearer. Certain colors seemed to stand out more yet still looked the same.
All the symbols in his sight disappeared except for his crosshair, yet he felt he could still use their functions. Even seeing through things was clearer.
But what surprised him the most, was the third eye he gained. He had accidently opened it right when he became conscious of it and everything he saw changed.
He could see everything surrounding him, while having all his normal functions and more.
He almost shit his pants when he saw the colors that stood out the most around him. There was the normal green mana which he could choose to see, along with the bluer magicka, yet the others excited him.
Like he assumed, there were many different energies. In just this newly created room alone there was three more energies he found.
There were even new energies in his body he could feel!
He immediately tapped into the two that seemed to resonate with each other.
Surprisingly, he unconsciously knew the names of these energies and couldn't wait to master them.
[Category replaced!]
Was the notification he got when coming in contact with the energy that resided inside of every physical thing in his body.
He noticed it this time and quickly used his [Display].
[Meta Powers: All Fusion (OP), All Adaptability (OP), Nigh-Almighty Magicka (SSS)]
[Energies: Magicka (SSS), Mana (SSS), Physical Energy (F
[Super Powers: Regeneration (A)]
[Resistances: Death (C), Emotional Thinking (A), Pain (A)]
[Immunities: -]
[Enhancements: Display Abilities (A), Three Prying Eyes (SS)]
He was happy to see this new listing, and closed the hologram, getting back to these new energies.
The one found in his body that was named Physical Energy, was fundamentally the physical strength and capabilities he had.
It's like before he knew about it, it laid dormant, but now, he could truly feel the strength he held.
He could bend his body however he wanted, control his strength with a preciseness, and even increase it if he wanted to face the consequences.
To test this, he placed his left hand on the forearm of the other, and twisted.
"..."
He expected to hear a cracking or tearing of sorts, but not a single sound was made. His skin was twisted as so was his entire forearm. He had spun it all the way around, and when doing so, he could feel the newfound flexibility of his bones.
They bent like a paperclip yet still held the incredible hardness of bone. He had to put strength into twisting it, so it was evident his arms wouldn't twist unless he wanted them too, or someone aimed for this.
This could catch many enemies off guard.
"Hah!..." He chuckled, bending his arms in ways that would make most hurl.
"Now, shall we continue?"
...
----------------------------------------
...
"GAH!!" A scream reverberated throughout the spacious room. Adam sat up quickly, touching all over his body as he looked around the room he was in.
"Holy shit..." He muttered with a sigh, placing his head in his palms. After a few minutes of silence, Adam got up and approached the mirror he had asked Amon for months ago.
His shirt was torn to shreds with the only piece left hanging around his waist. His pants were destroyed, the remaining pieces forming shorts around his thighs.
He examined his own body, finding it ridden with scars. To him, it showed the pain he went through to gain strength. He had not forgotten how he arrived on this world, the burn that went from the side his face to his chest reminding him of those moments.
He had to admit that many others probably went through much worse than him, but he couldn't make his pain obsolete because others went through worse.
He walked to his closet and put some clothes on before he went and sat on his bed.
He felt the mana flowing through him, it passed through every muscle in his body making him feel stronger than before.
Being the curious person he was, he wanted to see what he could do with it. He steadily forced the mana into his left arm, as if he was grabbing each strand with tweezers.
After a few minutes, their was a moderate amount in his arm, making it tremble. He used his mind to imagine a purple fire releasing from his palm.
Slowly, his balled fist loosened, and opened all the way. With a burst of light, a ball of purple fire, like he wanted, appeared in his palm. He sat mesmerized by the fact he was able to create fire, until he felt something wrong.
He thought releasing the energy would lessen the strain on his arm but it only increased it. Unlike what he wanted, the fire continued to grow past a small fireball.
The fire had covered his entire hand when he snapped back to reality.
"Shit!" He cursed, running towards the door and leaving his study.
As he left, he was about to stop, drop, and roll, when he realized that this fire wouldn't be put out so easily.
With slightly quick thinking, he ran for the pond under the bridge but slowed with each step. He felt increasing pain in his mind, and his body became weaker. The fire continued to grow and he continued to weaken.
It was clear to him that he was fatigued by the mana drain.
He collapsed on the ground with a loud thud. Yet as he was on the verge of passing out, he felt a strange feeling.
As if he was being watched.
He looked to the fire that had encompassed his entire arm, but it was slowing down it's conquest.
In an instant, the fire disappeared, leaving behind a perfectly fine arm as his energy was returned.
A new ability was registered deep in Adam's mind but since he unfortunately didn't have [Display], he wouldn't know about it.
"I haven't even taught you anything yet and you're already playing with your weapons." Amon's voice was heard in his head startling him a bit before he gained his composure.
"Uh, sorry sir... I only wanted to see what I was capable of." He trailed off towards the end, knowing he shouldn't have.
"Learn from your mistakes. Don't do anything reckless without me." With these words, Amon had appeared out of thin air, a different aura emanating from him.
With a wave of his hand the mentally fatigued Adam in front of him was healed.
"But it does seem like you have a natural talent for fire magic... "
...
----------------------------------------
...
Amon had basically mastered his [Physical Energy] and had just done the same to its counterpart, [Mental Energy].
It too was [S Rank] but had more capabilities than Physical energy. With it, he could feel the minds of people in a wide radius, along with reading them.
If he wanted to, he could control them too, it was very useful. It prevented his mind from being tampered with, while he could tamper with others.
Not very fair according to him.
He had felt the distress Adam was facing and watched what happened. He was going to interfere but before he could, Adam had unknowingly Adjusted to the fire and was able to control it, slowing its conquest, giving him an amazing ability...
