Everyone was in position. There were even more people with all types of weapons facing away from the overpass, waiting for the last wave. The Professionals made a few Common rank walls to slow down the beast and give the party a more secure location.
Brittney had brought all of the leadership into her raid party chat so they could communicate better. Her father had everyone in place in quick order, they seem to trust him implicitly. A fact showed by the confidence they now had in her based on her father’s word alone. ‘What had he done to get their trust so quickly.’ She thought. Six months wasn’t a very long time to get people to trust you that much, but adversity brings people together.
Brittney shook her head as the countdown to the last wave ticked down to zero. She was ready for her people to overpower the beast.

< WAVE BEGINS >
{Final Wave commences
Live Well or Die Free}
_____________________________________________________________
Unlike the other waves, the beasts didn’t just start spawning in around them and rushing them. Instead, it was quiet for a few seconds, and then it dragged on for a minute. The whole time, everyone got fidgety.
Mickie looked around as everyone scanned their sectors manically. “What the-”
A loud high-pitch screech pierced the skies above the overpass, cutting off any other words and thoughts. This was followed by hundreds more screams answering the call of the first. Worst of all, the screeches all came from above them.
“Shit, flyers!” Jack said, looking at his daughter with fear. She had never seen that look on her father’s face before, so she wasn’t sure.
“What?” She had to ask; she knew she wouldn’t like the answer, but she still needed to ask. That was leadership. You don’t avoid hard things. You guide people through hard things.
“We don’t have any anti-air weapons; we had to leave them when we left, and few combatants with anti-air powers,” Jack explained, not making any excuses but informing his leadership. He was more than glad to pass that buck, even if it was to his daughter. She was more powerful than him now. Jack had always been around powerful women, and it never intimidated him. He was a man, and men were never intimidated by competence because competence will always find a way to solve a problem, and men are supposed to be problem solvers. And his daughter was as competent as they come. He made sure of that from a very young age. She wasn’t about to disappoint him now.
“Oh,” Brittney was right; she really didn’t like that answer. At all. Kuma licked her hand to comfort her. “The auto cannons are still viable, have a few provide them with more Mana, they will be working over time on this wave. Valor?” Sugar looked at the lean young woman with braids and swords on her hips.
Support creative writers by reading their stories on Royal Road, not stolen versions.
She shook her head. “If they get within a few dozen meters, I can hurt them, even kill them, but they will avoid me after a while, and it will cost a ton of my -Will- to empower my attacks so far from my Presence as well. I would rather stay here and protect the guns if you don’t mind, ma’am.”
“I actually don’t mind. Someone needs to save us, though; I guess it's going to be me.” Sugar cracked her knuckles and grinned, similar to Mickie.
“Attagirl,” Mickie said with the same smirk and a ton of pride.
Kuma whined.
“And you to Kumie,” Mickie added.

David’s holy points ran out of steam once he got closer to the north runway, his Holy shroud flickering. To be fair, they were all running out of steam; they had long overused their potions, and the cooldown on them was still in effect. Jimmy’s teams was only an hour, but David, Ron and Terrence was days, even the hunter team cool down was a few hours.
Soto and Colonel didn’t seem to have a Mana problem. They both had powers that replenished their pools on kills, and they had been killing a lot. That didn’t mean they weren’t mentally exhausted.
They technically had had only a few nights of sleep in six months, and Clyde had been transported all over the multiverse in that time frame. His idea of time was a little warped. He was just glad he didn’t come back a few hours after the Breaking, or that would be a disaster. Well, being super OP like Soto wanted to be would have been great. To be fair, unfair?
A ghoul jumped at the tired monk. He was so spent he either didn’t see it or couldn’t react to it in time. His wide-eyed look made the latter option more likely as the Colonel responded instantly.
BANG
A glowing 50-cal round disintegrated the ghoul‘s head, causing the rest of its body to tumble over the still-running monk.
Okay, he was a little OP already, but this was just his job. He could have done that before magic, ghouls were just not made to fight high caliber weapons. He could see how ghouls against a typical archer would be terrifying. You would probably end up fighting a porcupine after you ran out of arrows.
Colonel had to shake his head. His thoughts were everywhere. He had to concentrate. He picked off three more ghouls attacking David by the time they caught up to him.
He was jogging with heavy steps, barely moving. His eyes were sunken, and Colonel could tell that he had used a Spell to temporarily boost himself, but he was obviously feeling the backlash of it now.
“Need a ride?” Colonel asked as Soto pulled their armored car up next to the overzealous David.
“Yes,” the monk lamented.
Colonel put his hand out and yanked him up easily. There was a seat behind the turret, and David sat there catching his breath. Soto took off down the runway towards the furthest Tower.
Ghouls bang on the reinforced front door of a two-story showroom-style building. The glass was surprisingly tough, though.
Of course, that’s when it broke, and ghouls started to rush into the building. Colonel’s perception ability picked up three beings on the top floor, but only one of them was moving. The other two looked bedridden. The moving player went to the stairwell to their floor and threw something down it. A bright flash of light enveloped the entire bottom floor killing off all of the weaker Veteran Enhanced Ghouls but pissing off the stronger ones.
Soto kept the speed up, but it was becoming more and more evident that they weren’t going to make it to the tower at their speed and the amount of bodies in the way. “Shit.” He cursed as Ghoul‘s bodies were crushed under the six-wheel vehicle.
“Go! I got this.” Soto said, running over a few ghouls who were too slow to get out of the way. Not that they tried very hard, to be honest.
Colonel didn’t need any more prompting; he activated his boot mod.

He locked onto the highest level ghoul near the entrance of the Tower with his presence, then three Quick steps later, Colonel was in the building with his fist through a grand ghoul who was about to cast an attack Spell. Colonel activated his grenade style using the Platinum Effect.

As soon as the grenades flew out of him, he locked onto another Veteran Enhanced Ghoul, which was outside the tower. He Quick stepped to that one back outside, and the night became day for a second before a massive shockwave pushed even him over.
