The last of the Enhanced feral ghouls were cleared from the door and runway with wispy motes of light. It was time to make their way to secure the other towers. The sheer amount of EXP had pushed David the Monk to level 52 from 49, and both the governor and his head guard, Terrence, were close to 49 from 39.
Colonel was getting close to Tier 5 in his Profession. He had tattooed everyone with a Platinum Tier Light Grenade Style, which had been devastating to the ghouls over the last fifty minutes. The Legacy also had just gotten access to a new trade, giving him two open slots for his trade skills. If he could just level them up a little, he would get access to all of his powers again. He was getting tired of just being supported all the time.
“Hey, Colonel, can I get a recharge, please, sir,” Terrence asked politely.
Clyde liked the man. He was a stalwart protector of his boss and friend like Soto was to him. Everyone needed a true friend who had their back without asking for anything in return except respect.
“Sure Knight Terrence.” He touched the tattoo of a grenade on his left arm with a sun in the background. Much to his surprise, he got a rank up for the recharge. “Cool.”
“You leveled up your profession again? This Dungeon is really good at that, huh?” Soto asked, waiting to get his Style recharged.
He was right; Tower Mode Dungeons were great sources for professional growth, which was doubly so for wild Dungeons. Colonel looked at his growth so far as he ranked up his Trade. All those grenade recharges and subsequent usage on the enemy did wonders for his Trade growth.
They had been living well.

Now, he had to pick a new Trade. He looked through the list and was surprised it got longer. “Ugh.”
Terrence looked at him questioningly. He waved him off. “I have a couple of Professional skill choices I need to make, but I have a lot of options, like a lot a lot.”
“Oh, OH. Wait, hold on, let me get everyone.” The Knight said as if now remembering something. He went to the stairwell and yelled down. “Hey everyone, come up here real quick.”
Colonel wasn’t sure what was going on, but he played along. They had all but cleared the south runway with their weaponry and powers.
“What is going on?” Soto asked, looking at Colonel. He scanned out the window of the Tower, searching for any movement at the other two Towers. Colonel recharged his style while they waited.
“No clue. I told him I had a Trade choice, and he started to freak out.” Colonel shrugged.
“Ahh, I see, I see,” Soto said, rubbing his goatee sagely. “I see.”
“Really...” Colonel said flatly.
Soto grinned, “Fake it until you make it, Jake, come on, boss man. Leadership 101. Damn, you already forgot that?”
Colonel gave a long suffering sigh as Ron walked in with Jimmy, a wolf by his side. The wolf pack was kept inside but they had had a chance to do some damage once the grenades began wreaking havoc, and opening big holes in the swarm of feral ghouls bodies.
“So you can tame any canine as long as you have Mana regen to spare? Fascinating. You think...” Ron was cut off by Terrence clearing his throat.
“Okay, so we have a decision to make,” Terrence said to the room of thirteen. “Colonel has a Trade choice, and we have to decide when do we try to take the other Towers?” He looked at Colonel.
“Well, the boss is coming in a few minutes. So maybe we can make that plan later,” Soto said, everyone in the room nodding.
“Something about Terrence was bothering Colonel. Why would he call everyone away from their post so close to the Boss fight? Well, probably to trigger the boss fight.” The Narrator said.
Colonel and Soto looked at each other. Both of them had heard the Narrator. Soto quickly turned to the window overlooking the other Towers.
Something detached itself from the sky—something huge. As they looked at the furthest Tower, it moved. It was massive, at least the size of a 747. What Soto assumed was the Boss flapped its wings and swooped down on the far Tower, letting out an air-piercing scream backed by its -Will- and a Spell.
SSSKKKKKKKEEEEE!
The far tower instantly exploded into rock and mortar.

< THE SOUTH RUNWAY BOSS HAS ARRIVED >
{Giant Sonic Ghoul Bat. Time until Bat is banished: 59M:54s.}
_____________________________________________________________
“Okay, so it is the same as last time,” Terrence said to Ron.
Colonel was more confused. He had looked at Terrence like all of the Colonel’s squad. “What is going on?”
“We have encountered this boss before. The Bat is powerful, but it can’t enter the Towers. So it summons plague rats that can overwhelm us very quickly. The Monk had drawn it away while we handled the rats, and the timer ran out. She never returned. We did survive, but it only brought us an hour; that was when your squad entered and saved us from the plague curse.” Terrence answered
“We weren’t sure if the boss would be the same or not. The change in numbers could change the whole scenario. Fortunate for us, it didn’t.” Ron picks up the explanation. “Terrence and I don’t have many AOE spells, so those rats needed to be killed individually. I have higher resistance than them. I also wasn’t on the front line I supported. Dying from a thousand bites was not something I wanted to happen to them, so I kept healing. I really thought I could cure the plague, but I had no Spells for it.”
“I wish you had let me die. That whole ordeal was traumatic as fuck.” David the Monk said, semi-joking. People from the Bronx are kind of macabre.
“I don’t disagree.” Terrence said, “At least about the trauma part. I am quite happy to be alive which brings me to our solution, Colonel.”
“Say what now?”
Soto looked at the bat as it pawed through the rubble, sniffing for bodies. “Can we wrap this up, B?” He said, looking back to the room.
“Right, we have to rebuild that Tower,” Terence pointed out to the Giant Sonic Bat. “To be honest, I wasn’t expecting that, but it wasn’t outside the realm of possibilities though. I don’t have a Trade skill slot open. All of my trade skills are combat ones, and they have been going up quickly during the fighting, so I will have access to another Trade skill in two more Professional ranks. I would say killing this boss would do it. The problem is none of us can rebuild the tower. I am guessing that killing the Boss would give us building material to rebuild it, and we could figure out something...”
“Blueprint?” Colonel asked Soto.
“Highly likely,” Soto answered.
“Then I should be able to build with my current Trades,” Colonel added.
“That is a relief.” Ron said, “I am starting to feel useless though. It is a great Dungeon for Professionals, not so much Classers.”
“I am getting pretty good EXP, actually,” Soto said.
“Good point.” Ron acquiesced.
“So we kill the bat and stop the rats,” Colonel said. “Then we take back the middle tower and rebuild the final one?”
“Yes.” Ron and Terrence said in unison.
“Good, Sergeant Major, can you get that thing's attention so that we can pin it down?”
“Yes, sir,” Soto answered confidently.
“Admiral.”
“Yes, Colonel.”
“PM me a description of the C-Ram.”
Ron grinned. “I have a better idea.”
Colonel’s hands began to glow as he smiled at what Ron was describing. An anti-aircraft gun formed as the image in his mind became the weapon in reality. Four loud, sharp sounds permeated through the entire airport when the weapon system was complete. The temperature in the tower dropped.

“I just got one of my trades to the max; it says it is the mortal limit. That reminds me of something...” Colonel noticed that it was hushed all of a sudden.
“Uh, sir,” Soto said quietly.
Colonel looked up to his teammate. “What's up, Soto?” Everyone in the room was looking out the window.
“I think you got its attention.” Soto pointed at the Bat.
The Beast stared at the Tower, energy building in its chest. Terrence moved to the weapon system. He was on a ship a lifetime ago when he was much younger. Terrence was blasted from the seat and crashed into the wall at breakneck speed, knocking himself out.
“Terrence!” Ron yelled, running to his head guard and best friend’s side. “What just happened?”
“Doc, fix him up.” Colonel looked at Terrence’s body, confused. “I am guessing because he isn’t a citizen of our nation. I didn’t think it would so violently eject him like that, though.”
“Diamond rank creations, am I right?” Jimmy said.
“Inappropriate.” His teammate said.
The Doc started to heal him. “He will be fine, just concussed. Ten minutes.”
“We don’t have ten minutes,” Soto said he hadn’t taken his eyes off the giant bat the entire time the sonic energy was still building.
“Julia, you fit the criteria shoot it down,” Colonel said he would have himself, but he was out of Mana after creating the weapon system.
“Gladly, sir,” Julia stepped up to the AA gun and jumped into the seat with glee, only to be launched up and cracking her head against the ceiling. She fell like a rag doll, out like a light next to the Medic.
The Medic gives Colonel the stink eye and he couldn’t blame her at all. He sighed.
“Don’t you fucking do it!” Soto said to Colonel firmly.
“What?” Colonel asked defensively.
“You’re not getting on that weapon system until we figure out why it is rejecting people.”
It clicked, and Colonel shared prompt with the room with a groan.
“Guess you will be getting weapon system style trade or something similar,” Soto said after reading.
Colonel was already looking through his list. A slow-building sound came from the sonic bat. Even with the focus, there were tons of Trade skills that offer the weapon system style as part of his Profession Trade options, including his own Siege weapon forging. He looked out at the bat, the sound becoming noticeable. “Sergeant Major.”
“Yes, sir?”
“Remind it that we are still here.” Colonel ordered.
“Reminding it, time now!” Soto turned, equipped his bow, and notched a bladed arrow. Then he started charging his own attack as the shadows coalesced around him.
Colonel now had three Trade skills choice and free one from his trial available, and he wasn’t going to waste an opportunity like a Dungeon that was perfect for Professional he had no doubt why his growth was so fast was because of the Wild Dungeon.

Four more ranks to tier 5, and he was only a few creations on his new Trades to get the levels he needed. Unfortunately, the bat wasn’t going to let Colonel be great. The sound coming from the bat was now unbearable. The room had started to vibrate. Soto released his overgrown arrow, and it streaked almost invisible through the darkness towards the bat.
Bats before magic could use sound to navigate the darkness easily. Now, with magic, the Beast had a much more powerful connection to its sound affinity. Really, with a name like Sonic Ghoul Bat, it used super sonar to dodge the spear-size projectile. So much to its surprise when the Mana arrow curved back around, with Soto’s -Will- and clipped the wing of the giant bat, causing the sonic attack to be expelled early. Unfortunately, it still hit a target of opportunity.
The middle tower exploded in a few hundred pieces.
"Fuck my life!" Soto cursed.

“Colonel, kill that thing before it does that to our building, please,” Soto pleaded.
“How did we make it attack prematurely, and it still did that much damage?” Ron said, staring wide-eyed at the rubble that was the middle Tower.
“Colonel sat in the AA gun; he felt it, really felt it; it was like he was a part of the weapon system now. The connection wasn’t like one with a human, but more like a car you had spent seven summers repairing, and it was finally complete, and this was your first time sitting in it. It purred almost primally as he lined up the shot. The swiveling of the gun system was smooth as a baby’s bottom; he grimaced at that idiom; so innocent but can be so misleading.”
Colonel shook his head at the narrator, thinking about the callousness of power. He wasn’t afraid, so he let his mind wander, but he felt the genuine fear from his party, and he needed to be better. This level of enemy wasn’t at his power at all; this was more like training, but that wasn’t the point. In training, you have to treat it like it is the real thing.
“Soto,” Colonel said calmly as the Bat started to fly closer to the last tower. Their Tower.
“Yessir?” Soto asked, not taking his eyes off the bat as it came to kill them.
“I’m tired of playing around.” He said seriously.
“Playing around? Bruh, I’m giving my all here. I’m out of Mana and can’t use Mana potions or crystals for another hour because of the cooldown. What gave you the idea that we playing around?” Soto asked, exasperated.
“We are done training.” Colonel continued as if Soto did sound dire. “Prepare for the counter-offensive, Sergeant Major. We take back this airport today; I am tired of staying in one place. LFG... Let's fucking go.” Colonel depressed the trigger, and the sound of a blender with diamond blades blending a metal spoon, mixed with a weedwhacker cutting the pavement instead of the grass, overpowered the building sound of the bat sonic attack. The burst was quick the sound was so loud that the glass on the inside of the Tower cracked.
BRRRRRRZZZZT
The entire party put their hands over their ears—well, all but two party members. Colonel and Soto had been heavy mechanized armor when they joined the army, and loud noises were just a part of their everyday lives. Years of training and fighting together built a certain amount of trust.
When Colonel said he was done training, Soto knew that Colonel had a better way to solve the problem. He just wanted to get his subordinates some experience in a safer environment and see if they could figure it out. Soto wanted to laugh, but he was exhausted and happy that they were going to make it out of here.
There was one thing about Colonel Clyde Jacob’s plans: they were always way more successful than he had initially planned them to be. He would have a best-case scenario, and then the mission would just go perfect, almost too perfect, most of the time.
The only time missions went to shit was when he didn’t have critical information, but even then, his plans always miraculously course corrected at the last second. It was pretty uncanny, well, until the Silk Road. Soto didn’t have to look at Colonel or cover his ears. All he had to do was sit back, relax, and enjoy the show.
The Bat used a spell infused with its -Will- a grayish film forming to block the attack. The bullets punched through the film like it was fog on an early morning drive, not slowing them at all whatsoever. The rounds shatter into clouds of micro-ice crystal clouds, shredding holes through the Bat and causing it to fall into dozens of pieces. The quiet in the aftermath was only disrupted by the falling pieces of the bat hitting the ground with disgusting plops.

“I did get a buff, but the other spells are way better in my opinion.” Sugar said.
“Then buy them from your skill store and take the empower spell. They are game changers; when misused, they can change a war if used correctly.” Adia said.
Sugar looked at her, but Colonel had said that they were their mentors and they would guide them well. So, she listened because she had a little common sense.

Five silent lightning bolts the thickness of a mini fridge hit Sugar, pushing her -Will- to a tangible level. She had had -Will- since Tier 3, but that was only a few days ago, and she didn’t have time to use it or learn anything about it. She stood and dusted her butt off. Surprised, she looked back at her butt. Ever since giving birth, she had gotten the butt she had wanted her whole life. But with her recent stat gains and all of her running, her nice cinnamon bun booty had grown into a small dump truck, and she couldn't stop staring at it and touching it. 'It's softer than I thought it would be.'
Adia raised her eyebrows.
Sugar coughed, “Let’s go.” She started to summon Kuma. The Spell coalesced much more quickly than it did before. Her new True Class was paying dividends right away.

The Spell had ranked up. Kuma strolled out of the rip in the world, sauntered up to Sugar, and gave her a lick on the cheek. “Hey mom, where are we going?” Sensing her hooman’s need to move.
“We are going south to help some new citizens.” Sugar answered.
Kuma was already in her base travel form, though now she was the size of a horse. Kuma sat down so that the shorter Sugar could get on her back.
The team of combatants going with her conjured Mana constructs that look like motorcycles. They didn’t make any sound while they idled, but as soon as they took off, the sound carried.
Adia walked in the air next to them, and they headed to the southern gate of the Fort. “Modeski.” Sugar said when the party got to the guard towers.
“Yes, ma’am?” The Turret gunner leader replied.
“Protect our Fort.”
“Roger that, ma’am, I will stay frosty.”
Sugar rode off with her group in tow.
Rice walked up to Modeski. "Who is that hot Elf?"
"Good..." Modeski started, still looking at them leaving, "I thought I was the only person seeing her for a second. She is hot, but we got work to do." He turned away nodding at the gate guard.
