Clyde frowned at the prompt. ‘I can only build a CAMP? That can’t be right. I have bonuses and...’

Soto looked in the Colonel’s direction, feeling his Presence. “Colonel, why are you always late to the fucking party, boss?” Soto yelled as he did a graceful dance of culling while dual-wielding bladed arrows like a conductor of death. “Look, Jake, they are playing our song, buddy.” He cackled as he killed coyote after coyote after coyote. They seem to just be jumping out of nowhere, appearing and disappearing at will, but every one of them that got close to Soto was bisected and dissipated into motes of light. “This is some good EXP now that you are here.”

Clyde couldn’t help but smile. The time he had spent in the trial had his mind reeling, but he also knew it had only been an hour for his teammates. Either way, he wasn’t going to delay. As he looked around, he noticed that the Raid party was pressed in many places.

_____________________________________________________________

The entire park started to change as Mana from the environment was pulled in rapidly, the dying beast’s light motes were also absorbed before it got a chance to disappear helping the CAMP form more quickly around the Raid Party.

First, a Massive Camp fire formed in the middle of the park, around it three buildings began to materialize. Trees began to break down and flow towards the center of the camp. As the material was mixed with the dirt, and mana met each other in streams of energy, the buildings formed like... well, magic. Clyde’s Mana and Trade Sight made it so that the usually invisible Mana was seen in radiant technicolor right before his eyes.

Each building was built in a few minutes as the Mana was infused by the combination of the Colonel’s massive Mana pool, his Disassemble Skill, and his Forger Profession working overtime. If he didn’t have his titles this would be impossible. But unfortunately for the Mirror Coyotes, he did have his titles. They also had more problems to deal with to be honest.

The bird on his shoulder took to the air as the camp came to life. She could only leave him when she was in an area controlled by him. Her current form was a blue jay the size of a hummingbird. So really tiny, the Mana in the Period not being enough for her to really grow strong. But after she started to fly through Mirror Coyotes with ease, killing them instantly, you can call her tiny, but no one would call her weak. She killed any beast she encountered, even if they were in stealth. She worked around the forming buildings and Camp Fire first every kill, sending more Mana to help build the structures.

Clyde felt her in his Presence, but couldn’t give any attention or praise to her, the creation of the Camp was taking up all of his brain power. His new Trade skill doing a lot of the work.

_____________________________________________________________

After the Campfire was built, a small tendril of Mana snaked into the ground as the Stronghold Vault was built under the Campfire. Clyde innately knew that the Vault was a semi-solid representation of storage under the Campfire. It was just the anchor using a concept of space that he had no idea what it meant. Not wanting to use the experience to level his Cultivator Path because he was already happy with that outcome, he moved on to the Main tent.

The Main tent was a massive circus tent-style building. Sleeping cots lined a full half of the tent with a table for meetings in the front end. The space concept here was easier to understand. It was like a storage ring. Clyde had no idea how a storage ring worked, but he knew that they did work, so he had no problem going into the tent and seeing that it was much bigger on the inside than it was on the outside by far, and it was pretty big on the outside. So big that the entire park visibly warped as it grew almost doubling in size.

The Forger fell to his knees as all of his MP was drained, and blood started to flow out of him. Then his bird had killed a few Elites and his pool refilled instantly.

The Outhouse and Field Shower were quickly built, and the fact that a new river was running next to the park made the pipelines form naturally, with recycling set up underground. The trees in the area would take all of the nutrients and use them to grow providing fruits, veggies, and herds in the process. The wastewater would go through the earth and natural Mana filters turning it into the water for the showers cleaner than any water from the pre-breaking world.

Clyde knew he wouldn’t tell Soto where that water came from, he was the kind of guy who would drink water from water bottles even in his own house. Something that annoyed Clyde to no end since he grew up in a country he used to have to boil his water before consuming it and he still would drink the water. That had changed many years ago, but some old-school Trinidadians still boiled their water or avoided the tap water.

As the park grew, the Mirror coyotes within the Campfire light were revealed. That was when Clyde saw his first level forties in the Mortal realm.

[I got this bad boy.] Sugar said in Party chat as everyone went back to trying to stay alive.

“A black blur of fur slammed into the Alpha that was a full two feet taller, and at least two meters longer. Yes, Kuma knew both metric and imperial measurements, get over it. The Alpha was caught off guard by how much that had hurt it. The tiger-sized dog bypassed the DR of the Alpha and gave it a few Debuffs in exchange.” The Narrator said causing Clyde to look around while maintaining the Stronghold growth.

The Alpha reacted badly to this turn of events. He turned invisible for a second, and then Battle Kuma was sent flying. She was still only level 33 and very inexperienced in fighting enemies of equal or higher power. She had mostly been support in the Dungeon, but Sugar thought it was time to get some real-world action.

Once Sugar had felt the Party’s mana pools refilling quickly because of the Stronghold bonus, she made her move to get Kuma more experience.

Clyde analyzed the puppy.

That one attack had hurt Kuma more than it had hurt the Alpha, but unlike the Alpha, Kuma was not alone.

“Void Bolt!” A bowling ball piece of void Mana hit the beast, burning through its DR and distracting it enough for Kuma to stack the Debuffs again.

The Alpha roared, and the surrounding Mirror Coyotes turned to the Caster and started to rush her, seeing her as the real threat. Sugar was not a fan of that action at all.

[Hmm, okay, maybe I don’t get this. If I had time, I could, but I didn’t expect to have the kitchen sink thrown at me so quickly. These beasts are already smarter than the Ghouls.] She said in team chat for just Soto and the Colonel.

[All good, Mamacita! I got you!] The Dark Ranger smiled as he had specialized and had a new trick that he was dying to try out.

“What? Why?”

“Walk with me." He started to walk towards the southern wall. "You see two more guns in thirty minutes. While nice, I think you should put your trade skills to use. I, for one, am excited to see what a ward does to a wave of beasts who just throw themselves at us with abandon.”

“And what about the Colonel?” Sugar asked as they walked to the edge of the park towards the broken part of the wall, which was pretty much all of it.

“I am sure he is fine; that guy's luck is out of this world, and while I’m not there to save him. He might be the most competent leader the world had during the pandemic, so I am sure he could handle any curveball thrown his way. Except for fatherhood, he was pretty shitty at that.” Soto said confidently. “When he comes back, it will be with a bang.”

For fifteen minutes Soto walked Sugar around showing her where to plant her wards. They were basically mines and Soto was absolutely happy with that. As they came back to center and watched as the combatants heal up he decided it was about time that he specialized.

Soto watched as the medic team picked up the wounded and dropped them off at the center of the clearing making it an impromptu hospital. Soto smiled at their lack of need of direction. His non-commissioned leadership was earning their pay. ‘Wait do we have to pay these people?’ That was before Soto realized that they were filthy rich.

Soto held out his bladed arrows and chanted “Dark dagger” twice and smiled as a matte black sheen covered the blades over the next ten seconds. At the end of the time, the matte black mana snapped to the edge of the blade, making it a little longer and much sharper than a level 39 mirror coyote found out as the dark Scout held his arm out and, without any resistance, cleaved through the beast like a hot knife through warm butter. The beast dissipated before he was even halfway through its body, the light being sucked into the building of the Camp.

[Keep doing what you are doing, you boss; we can hold out now that we got Mana. We can brief you after the wave] Soto said in command chat.

[Copy that, walls or defensive guns first?]

[I say you go with walls first. I honestly feel like we can handle this wave easily]

That was when a loud roar of an unknown beast came from out side of the park.

[Of course, it would wait for me to say that. I shoulda just kept my mouth shut.]

Clyde shook his head at his battle buddy’s reaction. “We have heavy incoming,” The Colonel yelled at everyone as he looked at his mini-map. “I need fifteen minutes to make the walls will I get it?” He asked loudly.

“You shall have it, sir!” Was the collective response from most of the NPC’s fighting the Mirror coyotes inside of the Camp.

“Hooah!” The old soldier in him felt the pride of leading troops again, and he loved it. His Raid party Mark was working overtime to empower his troops.

[Protect Sugar everyone, then give me some time.] He added in the Raid party chat.

“Dark Crescent!” Soto chanted as he cut the area in front of himself. As his blade swiped the air, a black afterimage was left behind. Just as he finished the motion of moving the blade across his body the black energy snapped into a crescent moon shape of solid black mana that shot out towards Sugar as she backed up to the Main Tent. Everyone, friend and foe, was hit by it.

Soto’s Title allows for some fire-and-forget options.

PLATINUM BONUS: The more targets affected, the more bonus damage is done.}

_____________________________________________________________

As the spell hit the first mirror coyote a wisp of mana flew out and latched on to another beast and even party members as the attack ravaged the enemies lines in seconds. The Alpha echoed the roar of the beast outside of the Camp as it is peppered with attacks from the now freed up NPCs. The Dark Crescent was devastating to the beast in its way, with his Platinum bonus in effect. The party members were countered as targets and only made the next beast hit feel the pain.

Half of the early and closest Coyotes died from the spell, but every one of them were killed by the time the Spell made it through and passed Sugar. The spell even went on and destroyed the wall on the other side of Sugar.

“Oops.” Soto flinched.

Clyde shook his head again, “Sloppy brother.” The Warlord said under his breath, and then he looked at the guard gates as they started to form. He needed to make walls, so he went on to phase two. Making this Camp into a fort. The first wall he fixed was the one that Soto had just taken out. “Sergeant Major always giving me more work to do.” He complained as the walls, formed, they almost looked like Marquina marble, but instead of white veins running through the black walls there were light blue veins of mana, and that could be seen on the inside.

_____________________________________________________________

[Think it is go time, Mamacita, activate your wards.] Soto said in the team chat.

[Aye aye!] Sugar replied and with a flex of her mind the world around the Camp shifted.

The Alpha succumbed to the attacks and debuffs on it just as Clyde put up the third wall. The walls were already putting in work as most of the beasts that made it over had burnt fur, and some were still spasming, making them easier targets for the Raid party.

The flow of beasts slowed down from the black fog that exploded outside the walls, causing each new beast to come into the camp with debuffs eating away at their defenses.

A few more roars and the beast stopped trying to jump over the walls and tried to make their way to the last side of the Camp without a wall. The icons in Clyde’s map moved around too quickly.

[Concentrate fire on the southern wall area, we got a smart Alpha out there guiding them.] The Colonel yelled in Raid Chat.

Every type of ranged offensive power they had was sent to the southern wall area. The wall was growing slower than the other walls because of the sheer amount of bodies standing in the way, but their deaths served another purpose.
