Chapter 26: The noble Districe and preparation for school

026 - the noble district and preparation for school

Not wanting to go back to the crowd at the gate, I resumed my walk though the side streets of the noble district. The general description of the clothing shop, combined with the map I had in the halo, allowed me to easily navigate towards my goal.

...until a big hand fell on my shoulder, turning me around.

“Hey, little lady. You surely wouldn’t mind accepting the invitation of our lord?” said a big house guard, while already trying to shove me in the right direction.

“Come on, the lord is waiting! And you don’t want to know what had happened to the last one making him wait, do you?” he continued, forcing me a bit further forwards, towards a big mansion.

I was unable to resist, as he had far superior strength, and somehow took me at a certain nerve to make me unable to speak. That person must have been quite experienced in abducting people, I admired for a bit, then a hand fell down on his shoulder.

“You surely wouldn’t mind if she was to accept the invitation from our lord, would you?” asked a half-giant, bringing two other of his race with him, all of them clothed in one uniform different from the first guy that still held me.

When another two groups with different attires appeared, I finally took out my knife, slashed at the hand that held me, turned around and started to run.

Taking the first turn I could reach, I heard the different groups crashing into each other at the corner, obstructing each other and gifting me with precious time to run further away.

At the next turn I barely grabbed the wall and continued running further away and leaving another mess of guards obstructing each other behind.

Then I reached the main road that led to the school and palace, filled with people to the brim.

Relieved I dove into the crowd, ducking a bit and sneaking further down away from my pursuers that frantically pushed through the many people, earning many angry stares while not gaining much ground.

In that manner I easily raised the distance between us and reached my goal, a big, but surprisingly spartanic building with large letters painted on the front: The royals’ Needle and Thread.

Going inside I was immediately greeted by a young female clerk, who was slightly displeased at my dirty and cheap clothing. Well, just showing her my scholarship card was enough to make her previously forced smile friendly and her behaviour far to grovelling to my tastes. Still, I was quickly supplied with several suits of the school uniform, which consisted of a red blazer over a black blouse, a red and black anime-like folded skirt, but reaching down to my knees, black knee-socks and red shoes.

The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

No underwear supplied.

I think I should introduce the modern panties to this world soon, maybe selling the concept to this shop?

Regardless, I wasn’t in need of money right now, so I just bought some more clothes that were more comfortable than the uniform, and some non-erotic sleeping pyjamas.

Getting all these paid by the school just by waving my card, I then walked out in one of my new outfits and continued my shopping spree.

Several books abaout advanced magic theory, basics were already done during the journey, more books about rare monsters and the traits they had, some writing materials, a silver ring with a blue monster core, with runes inscribed so that it strengthened my body a bit and a few blue flowers that I wound into a crown and fit well with my new dress.

I was really happy about finding the spacial bag, as I didn’t have to openly carry the bought things that way - even if it was offered to bring everything to my room at the school.

One thing I noticed about myself during that time was: I was eyecatching. People around me always stared at me, being very rude with that and some even tried to invite me for dinner or some other things, which I immediately rejected. At those times I was glad about all those stares, as that way nobody could openly harm me.

When it was slowly getting dark I made my way back to my inn, passing through the gate where the gatekeepers were much more friendly now that I had better clothes.

The next few days were filled with freedom and fun, as I read the books I had bought while sitting at a cafe in the noble district eating ice cream all day long.

I often got invited to parties or dinners, but I rejected all of them as I enjoyed my solitary lifestyle inmidst of a town, which I would have to give up soon enough.
