On the next morning, Boe woke up when sun hasn’t risen yet and started learning the battle teaching his master gave him. First step on a way to become the Demon Emperor is to feel a shadow attribute battle aura in an air around you and then absorb it using special chants of your specific battle teaching to attract battle aura toward your body. To feel a specific attribute of battle aura you must have a corresponding attribute affinity, higher level of your affinity toward battle aura attribute will help you feel battle aura around you and will provide a great assistance in attracting battle aura to your body. Boe now had a level 4 affinity toward the shadow attribute battle aura so he could easily feel and attract shadow elements around him, ‘if its already this easy for me to feel and attract battle aura with level 4 affinity, then what kind of monsters are people with level 5 affinity?’
Boe was so concentrated on learning battle technique that he didn’t notice it was already time to eat a breakfast, but knocking on his door woke him up from his trace-like condition, “Boe Nas, professor Sky Venom told me to get you to her office right now or else she will come here herself and will make sure you won’t ever forget about appointments you’re making with her ever again.”
Boe opened his door and saw a two meter tall muscular humanoid with a head of a rat in front of his door, creatures like that were called semi-humans and were very common on a territory of the Shadow Kingdom. “Hello, my name is John, I was the youngest disciple of Lady Sky Venom before you joined our ranks, but now you will be the youngest and I will be your senior.”
“Good morning, senior John, I’m very sorry for making you come all the way here just to remind me of my appointment with our mentor.” It was Boe’s first time seeing semi-human, but he didn’t make it obvious to John, ‘What a fucking strange name “John”, what were his parents thinking when they were naming him like that?’
After exchanging few more meaningless polite words with John, Boe went straight to SV’s office.
“Good morning, mentor, I’m very sorry for being late, I was just too tired after yesterday’s incident and overslept.” Boe could easily lie even in front of a powerful people without being scared of them noticing he was lying since he lost most of his feelings and could control all remaining emotions easily.
“About that incident that happened to you, can you now tell me everything in details so I would be able to help you find any missing relatives or friends?” SV trusted her guts and was sure Boe wasn’t a spy of any enemy organization, but a lot of other professors pushed on her to find out everything about that super talented kid they suddenly encountered in a middle of the forest laying alone, without scars or any damage dealt to him.
Boe already made up story to tell to SV beforehand, since he couldn’t just tell her about his strange master, and he was sure she would believe in his made-up story a lot more than story about an almighty being who randomly chose 14 year old kid to become his disciple, “I was walking toward the Black Scorpio school with my older brother named Rak to enroll here when we were attacked by a demon, before I could even react, Rak used his battle aura to put me to sleep so I don’t know what happened to Rak and that demon. But my brother is very strong! He’s already a rank 2 wizard with fire attribute affinity so I’m sure he’s still alive and maybe even defeated the demon.” Boe made a face of an innocent little boy who believed in his own story, but deep down he felt sadness and rage.
“Alright, that’s good enough, now just give me the description of your brother and I will command people of our school to look for him around those woods.”
After Boe finished describing his brother to SV, she pulled out a long list of classes Boe could go to and told him to choose any classes he wanted to visit. Alchemy, Summoning rituals, Path of sacrifices, Shadow healing, Battle practice, Mind control, Weapon forging, Spirits control, Magic arrays, History of Lin continent, Companions nurturing, Cultivation of physical strength…
‘I would love to get some fighting experience through Battle practice classes, but I cant let anyone know I’m learning the "Demon Emperor" technique yet, so I cant take this class, cultivation of physical strength on the other hand seems to be perfect for me so I will certainly choose this one. I should definitely choose Summoning rituals to get the creatures of another worlds to fight for me or Companions nurturing to get something to fight for me when I cant fight myself or need any help. Alchemy is a must have because I will always have potions on me if I will be able to become an alchemist. Path of sacrifices should be perfect to nurture my inner demon so I will pick this one too, shadow healing is too difficult to grasp and wont be of any help in life or death battles so I will skip this one. Mind control is very complicated and can even lead to losing my mind while trying to control the mind of someone else, so I will skip this one too. Weapon forging seems good for making money but I’m not interested in money and I can just buy a weapon I will need when it’s going to be needed so its useless for me. Magic arrays are very hard to understand but they might be very useful in future so I will try to understand it, but if I wont be able to learn it fast I will just drop it later. History of Lin continent seems absolutely useless and shouldn’t even be class in this sort of school and I wont stay here for too long so I wont be taking that class for sure. Spirits control class seems to perfectly synergize with Path of sacrifices so I will choose this one too. All other smaller classes seems useless to me, so I will go for these six classes for now and will keep free time for learning my battle technique.‘ Boe looked through all classes and decided to pick six that he thought would be useful to him.
“I will attend Alchemy, Path of sacrifices, Spirits control, Magic arrays, Companions nurturing and Cultivation of physical strength classes, mentor.”
“Good choices, Boe, you even chose my alchemy class so we’ll be seeing each other a lot more than I expected. Since you just joined our school you shall receive some resources for your cultivation.” As SV said that, she threw a big bag to Boe. Boe caught it and saw three black rocks with shadow attribute battle aura emanating from them inside, two ordinary books, one heavy big book with a leather cover and bunch of plants, “Those are three shadow magic stones, you can use them to quickly raise level of a power aura inside your body, books with a teaching of the basic attack technique “Shadow arrow” and movement technique “Shadow step”, both of them are very well suited for your shadow attribute affinity, few basic level plants to help you in your alchemy experiments and finally most important thing is a book with the battle teaching “Black Scorpio” which can allow you to advance up to rank 4 wizard. You will be getting resources based on your contribution to the school every month, even if you won’t do any missions you will be getting 1 magic stone with attribute of your choice and few plants of your choice as well. If you will want to get more resources, including magic stones, plants of level higher than basic or any new techniques you will just need to complete individual or group missions of our school, but I don’t recommend you to take any missions before you will grasp both “Shadow arrow” and “Shadow step” to extent of being able to easily utilize them without wasting all your battle aura.”

Back in his room, Boe was thinking about items he received from SV, he obviously wasn’t interested in the battle technique of this school, since he already had far superior the “Demon Emperor” technique, so he just tossed that book under his bed. After that, he read through contents of two techniques he got from SV and understood that he will first need to gather some battle aura inside of his body and only then he would be able to use those. Magic stones weren’t actually as amazing as he expected, they were just an ordinary stones that existed inside of areas where battle aura was very thick so they were full of it; wizards were gathering them to absorb battle aura those stones had in them to hasten their progress in filling their body with battle aura. The next few days Boe spent getting used to his new life in the school at day and training in his battle technique at evening. He finally managed to grasp Demon Emperor’s way of gathering battle aura from air into his body, “Wow, feeling I get from absorbing even a little bit of shadow attribute battle aura into my body is amazing. Seems like breaking through to rank 1 wizard with my battle technique and shadow attribute affinity is very easy, I just need sufficient time. Since I now have some battle aura inside of me, I can finally start learning those 2 techniques SV gave me.” Boe was very diligent in learning his techniques, so he finished the basic level of training in both techniques in three weeks. He was already a full month int the school and he got used to all his classes and even made a great progress in alchemy and magic arrays, teachers were sure he got talent in both these fields, SV was especially satisfied when she saw how talented he was in alchemy. In cultivation of physical strength classes, he was a lot weaker than rest of his class since they had trained there for half a year longer than he did and he couldn’t catch up to them for now, path of sacrifices needed basic knowledge of magic arrays so he could only attend it after he finished first year of magic arrays classes. Spirits control classes were hard for him since he had to catch up to them in basics individually without teachers help, but his senior John agreed to tutor him and that helped Boe a lot. After spending some time with John he understood that John was actually quite a nice guy and decided to befriend him. And finally, companions nurturing classes were like a torture to Boe, teacher seemed to dislike Boe for some reason and gave him a little black bat to nurture. Boe named his bat Wayne and was expecting to have fun raising his little bat, but Wayne was a night creature and it was awful for Boe since he was attending his classes at day, practiced battle technique at evening and couldn’t stay awake at night to actually babysit Wayne.
“Hello, senior John, I heard you were looking for me?”
“Hi Boe, Lady Sky Venom told me to take you with me today for a group mission from school. She said she doesn’t like that you didn’t take any missions and was just staying at school for a whole month and some other professors were very displeased with that too for some reason.” John was very puzzled with all the attention Boe was getting from SV and all other teachers, he never heard of a student being so monitored by professors.
“Sure, if mentor wants me to go out for a mission I can only obey.” Boe understood some professors still suspected him and his origins even after his talk with SV, so he was expecting this kind of thing, he was even sure that the one who proposed this was companions nurturing classes professor Rid Hag. He would love to just stay inside of the school and keep getting stronger without getting himself in any kind of danger, but he had no choice but to agree to this.
“What’s our mission, senior?”
“Mission this time is to eliminate a monster who kills people in the Dark Forest near our school. You don’t have to worry about anything, our third companion for this mission is a senior Lok Tar and he’s already a wizard of rank 1, so he will be dealing with monster himself, we’re going there only as a backup for him to get some real battle experience.”
“With senior Lok accompanying us we have nothing to be afraid of in the dark forest.” Lok Tar was one of Boe’s seniors he got to know through John, he was a big muscular man with green skin and battle axe as his main weapon.
“Be careful and don’t go too far away from me, if that monster will attack suddenly I won’t be able to save you if you’re too far from me.” Lok Tar was calm and collected and was commanding both Boe and John as if they were frail ladies and he was a knight protecting them.
“Senior Lok, if reports of our men are correct then monster should be living inside that cave over there.” Boe noticed that there were a lot of holes near cave.
“If I’m not wrong then this monster should be some kind of huge spider and this cave is where it stores his food.”
“You are 100% correct, John, looks like we will be facing a Giant Huntsman spider. Don’t let it bite you or you will be poisoned, lose your ability to move and I won’t bother to save you from stones falling or other effects of my battle with spider. If this spider has any children or eggs laying inside of cave you two will have to destroy all of them while I fight big spider.”
Boe felt goosebumps all over his body when he entered the cave. Three of them started walking deeper and deeper into the cave until they heard something moving. Before Boe could react, something big flashed behind them and attacked John, but before it could reach John, Lok Tar screamed something and attacked spider with his axe, “Run deeper inside and destroy its children and eggs!”
Boe and John immediately ran away from the big spider and went in even deeper into the cave without looking back even once. After two minutes of running they saw a big nest full of eggs. Boe and John both took out swords from behind their backs and started destroying eggs, but before they had a chance to destroy even a dozen of them, they heard something coming their way from a passageway in front of them.
“Spider wasn’t alone! Another Giant Huntsman spider is coming our way, run for your life Boe.” But Boe didn’t need any instructions from John, he already ran off in Lok’s direction before John even finished screaming.
