Chapter 10 - Back to school

Chapter 10 - Back to school

Boe was walking in complete darkness of a secret passage for three hours before he finally saw the light at the end of the tunnel. When he walked close to the light, he saw a little metallic door on a ceiling of the passage. He jumped up and punched the door.

*CREEEEAK*

Boe jumped up and crawled out of the small door. He was now in a middle of a small room of an old house. House was abandoned, but Boe still heard people speaking.

“I heard that owner of the house killed his whole family with a butcher knife and then killed himself too right in that closed room.” Boe heard child’s voice.

“Syril, stop scaring us!” Little girl was scared and even her voice was trembling when she said it.

“Clara, I’m only telling you all what I heard from my grandfather. He lived in the house next door when all that happened, so he definitely told me the truth.” Syril even tried to make his voice sound creepy when he was saying those things to Clara.

“My father once told me about this house too, owner of this house was a local butcher and everyone in village loved him. But one day he found out that both his kids were not from him, that’s why he killed his family.” Another boy joined Syril in scaring Clara.

“I hate you, boys. I don’t want to stay here anymore, I’m leaving!” Boe now heard light footsteps walking out of the house.

“Hahaha, she really got scared. All girls are stupid after all.” Syril and another boy were evidently happy that their plan worked out.

*CREEEEEEEEEEEEEAK*

At that moment Boe decided to open the door of the little room he was in and walk out. But two little boys only saw dark silhouette walking out from the closed little room.

“AAAAAAAAAHH” Both boys started screaming and running away from the abandoned house, but before they reached the door Syril stumbled and fell on the floor.

“Don’t leave me here to die!!!” Syril was screaming as loud as he could, but the other boy didn’t even react as he ran out of the house.

“Senior ghost of a butcher, please don’t kill me, I didn’t want to intrude into your house, I just wanted to play with my friends. Please spare me, I am the only child of my father and mother, they will not be able to live after my death. Please spare me, senior.” Syril started pleading as hard as he could without even lifting his head to look at Boe.

“Kid, do I look like a ghost to you?” Boe was standing before Syril with kind smile on his face, but inside he was barely able to hold himself from laughing. All these emotions surprised Boe, he rarely felt anything after his brother’s death, but these little kids brought joy into his life.

“Are you sure you aren’t a ghost, big brother?” Syril already looked at Boe, he was looking like an ordinary human being, but his presence was as if he was some kind of magical creature. Boe was now almost fifteen years old, but his body was already a lot stronger than ordinary adults. Boe’s hair were still black, but now there were some kind of barely visible black spark running through them. Boe’s eyes were now even darker shade of black than they were. Boe’s face became a little bit better looking somehow, even though nothing changed in it, it was as if he was noble prince with an ordinary face, but a very noble presence.

“I am definitely not dead yet. Little Syril, can you tell me where am I right now? What’s the name of your village and where should I go if I want to go to the Black Scorpio school?”

“Black Scorpio school? I don’t know any school with such a name. Village I live in is called “Edison village” and we are in the Shadow Kingdom territory.”

“Thanks, little Syril.” Boe decided to play around with little Syril and used his Shadow Step technique to vanish from his sight in a split second.

Syril stood there motionless for a few seconds without even blinking, he was now sure that big brother from before was a real ghost and just lied to him.

Boe was now standing on a roof of the highest building in the Edison village. ‘I have no idea where am I right now, so I guess I will have to go to a local pub and get information from there, I hope common folk here knows something about Black Scorpio school's whereabouts.’

When he entered the biggest pub of the village, a heavy alcohol odor of the wine assaulted his nose, and Boe almost threw up because of that. After all, Boe was now only fourteen years old and has never drank alcohol yet.

“Oi, pretty boy, that’s not a place for you to play in. Get the fuck out of here or I’ll have to smack your ass and hand you to your parents.” Barman looked to be sixty years old and he was certainly a warrior in his youth.

“I’m here just to get information I need; I don’t need alcohol or any problems here. I can even pay for information if needed.” Boe only smiled in response and was talking to the barman as if he was a respectable senior.

“One copper coin for each question of yours.” Barman checked out Boe’s appearance and guessed that he was some noble because of his school uniform.

“Alright, do you know anything about the Black Scorpio school?”

“Yes, I do.”

“Where is it?”

“Pay up for your first question, then I will answer your second one.” Barman held out his hand to show Boe that he won’t be answering any more questions before he will pay. Boe didn’t like barman’s attitude from the beginning, but now he was really mad.

“How do you value your life, old man? Is it worth more than two copper coins?” Boe activated his demonification and looked at the barman with his red eyes. Barman wanted to say something, but his words got stuck in his throat and his legs started trembling, he felt like he was standing before a real devil. Seeing barman’s reaction, Boe slightly chuckled and deactivated his demonification.

“Please spare my life, esteemed lord. Black Scorpio school is in thirty kilometers to the east from this village. There are few bandit gangs on the way from here to that place, but they will definitely be nothing in front of your might. I would never dare to be impolite to you if I would know who you are.” Barman dropped to his knees and was almost crying while begging to spare his life.

Boe didn’t say anything to the barman and just walked out of the bar; he didn’t have any desire to stay even a moment longer in that place.

“Nick, what the fuck was that? Why would you kneel and beg for your life in front of that pretty boy? Is he some kind of big-shot noble? Should we catch up to him and rob him while he’s alone?” Big fierce-looking man with a huge scar on his face walked up to the barman with a greedy look on his face.

“Go ahead and try him out, Johan. I know you were once famous bandit leader, but that kid is a fucking demon. A real fucking demon…”

Boe was now walking in a middle of a forest in a direction of his school. ‘I should have killed that barman there, that would be a good first human murder experience. I am a dark wizard after all, and even a future Demon Emperor… Killing ordinary humans should be a normal thing for me.’ Boe now felt that he got scared of killing that barman, he killed a lot of beasts already, but couldn’t force himself to kill one mere human. That man wasn’t even a decent person to begin with, but even with that in mind, Boe couldn’t do it for some reason.

*WHISTLE*

“Hey, pretty boy, why don’t you stop and chat with this big brother here?” When Boe turned around, he saw three men sitting on a big stone. First one was the one who whistled and said all these things to Boe, he was almost two meters tall, very thin, had a lot of scars all over his face and held a curved short blade in his hands. Second one was almost same height as the first one, but his body was very muscular, his face looked like he was hit in a head in his childhood. The last one was a very young looking guy with red hair, brown eyes, perfect facial features, muscular body and he held a beautiful black sword in his hands.

“I don’t want any problems, so please just let me go my way.” Boe felt that first two guys wouldn’t be a problem to deal with, but the last one was emitting a strange aura. Boe was sure he wasn’t a wizard, so he couldn’t understand how an ordinary human could emit any kind of aura.

“Brother, I’m sorry for Krem’s behavior, he wasn’t educated so he doesn’t know how to properly greet people,” Young man said as he hit Krem on the head.

“No worries,” Boe answered, turned around and started walking away again.

“Brother, please don’t leave so fast. We got lost and need help in finding Black Scorpio school, can you please help us out?” Young man ran past Boe and blocked his way. Boe was shocked by the young man’s movement speed, he was definitely not inferior to Fiery Monkey, but how was that possible?

“Are you sure you want to start a fight with me?” Boe felt his desire to fight flaring up.

“Brother, we don’t want to fight with you at all. I can tell that you are a dark wizard, so you are probably from Black Scorpio school, aren’t you?”

“Big bro, stop that bullshit and just force him to tell us everything he knows.” Krem was obviously used to use force to get anything he wants in life.

“Shut your mouth when I’m talking, Krem.” Young man looked at Krem with a very angry expression on his face. Krem retreated few steps back and sat down near big guy.

“How rude of me to ask a questions without introducing myself. My name is Kamys, I’m an ordinary citizen of our great Kingdom. I was training in Cultivation of a physical strength in my little town when my master noticed that I was emitting fire attribute battle aura. He then got me tested for affinity toward battle aura, and they told me that I have a level 2 affinity toward fire attribute battle aura. They called me one in ten thousand genius wizard and sent me here to study magic.” Boe now understood that Kamys was emitting strange aura because he had relatively high affinity toward battle aura, but didn’t gather any of it into his body, so battle aura was always around him, but couldn’t get inside of him.

“This rude idiot is called Krem, even though he is a little rash and stupid, he is a very honorable warrior. That big guy over there is named Oman, he is always quite, but unstoppable in battle. They both are my sworn brothers from hometown, my master sent them with me so they would accompany me and then get back to town to deliver good news if I would be accepted into Black Scorpio school.” Kamys seemed like was used to be the center of attention back in his hometown and everyone loved him for his amiable character.

“Boe, student wizard from Black Scorpio school. You can follow me if you want.” Boe turned around and started walking again. He didn’t really mind those three guys following him, he might even make that Kamys guy his first friend for his master’s mysterious last test.

When four men reached the territory of the Black Scorpio school, Boe took a last glance at Kamys and went in his room’s direction. Kamys slightly nodded at Boe and went in different direction, he walked straight to the director’s office.

*KNOCK-KNOCK*

“Come in.” Old voice sounded from inside of the office.

“Greetings, honorable elder.” Kamys deeply bowed right after he entered.

“Kamys Tad, I suppose?” When Kamys raised his head, he saw a middle-aged man with dark black hair and black eyes dressed in completely black official suit sitting in big chair.

“My father told me you will be expecting me and I will have an opportunity to become a student in your school.” Kamys was respectful, but at the same time arrogant, when he spoke to director.

“You are already an official student in my school, even though I don’t have much time to teach you myself, I appointed you to become a student of the best professor of my school. Go and introduce yourself to your new teacher right now, she’s waiting for you in the next office.”
